realtà artigianale dall’intraprendenza del Sig. Aldo Colombo
e dei due figli, si propone oggi sul mercato come una realtà

attività nel settore della produzione di accumulatori al
piombo, è proiettata verso il futuro tramite continui
accorgimenti atti a rendere sempre migliori ed innovativi i

Our history
Fabbrica Accumulatori Ariete was established on 1963 by
Mr. Aldo Colombo and his two sons as an artisan reality but
soon became one of the most important supplier with
motorbike batteries to the most famous and prestigious
brand (VARTA, TUDOR, SAEM, etc.).
E’ in quest’ottica che si colloca l’ormai consolidato Sistema di
Gestione della Qualità secondo le più aggiornate Norme ISO.
La nostra storia
Inizialmente propostasi di produrre batterie per motocicletta
per conto terzi, l’Ariete divenne in pochi anni una delle
maggiori fornitrici di batterie moto delle più importanti e
prestigiose fabbriche italiane di accumulatori (VARTA,
TUDOR, SAEM, etc.).
In 1969 Fabbrica Accumulatori Ariete settled in the present
address taking up its transformation in industrial reality.
Between 1970 and 1974 its production was about 150.000
motorbike batteries/year.
In 1975, because the tumble in motorbike batteries market,
Fabbrica Accumulatori Ariete changed immediately its
production in starter batteries for car and truck.
Thanks to its good name due to the good quality of its
product, Fabbrica Accumulatori Ariete entered briskly into
automotive batteries market.
Trasferitasi nell’attuale sede di Suisio, grazie ad attenti ed
oculati investimenti, nel 1969 incominciò la vera e propria
“metamorfosi” da realtà artigianale a realtà industriale.
Negli anni compresi tra il 1970 ed il 1974 l’Azienda produceva
mediamente 150.000 batterie per motocicletta all’anno.
Nel 1975, causa un forte crollo nel mercato delle batterie
moto, con una svolta decisiva, l’Ariete differenziò la propria
produzione passando a quella di accumulatori per auto ed
autocarri. Grazie ad una buona immagine creatasi nel
tempo e all’alta qualità dei prodotti forniti, l’azienda si
inserì attivamente nel nuovo mercato.

Thanks to its continuous investments today Fabbrica

the lead ingot to the wet battery.

La serie standard offre una concreta risposta alla vasta gamma di modelli richiesta dal mercato della
batteria auto. Le batterie della serie standard, prodotte con tecnologia ibrida piombo/calcio con piastre
positive fuse con lega di piombo-antimonio affinata al selenio e piastre negative al piombo-calcio
imbustate in separatori di polietilene, offrono ridotto consumo di elettrolito ed alta affidabilità per tutti
gli usi nel campo dell'avviamento.
The standard series includes a large range of models of car batteries. The car standard batteries are
produced with hybrid technology Pb/Ca with fused plates enveloped with polyethylene separators;
reducing the water consumption they offer good quality for every use in the automotive market.

La serie special completa l'intera gamma delle batterie avviamento con i modelli più ricercati offrendo la
risposta applicativa a qualunque richiesta del marcato del ricambio auto/camion. Prodotte con piastre al
piombo-antimonio imbustate in separatori di polietilene, le batterie possono essere fornite sia in versione
carica che in versione carica secca per consentire tempi maggiori di stoccaggio a magazzino.
The special series complete the range of starter batteries with the most various and uncommon models
for every vehicle. Produced with fused plates Pb/Sb enveloped with polyethylene separators, the batteries
can be supplied in both the version wet or dry to bear longer time on stock.

The power series offer very high performance for top class vehicles. The strengthened thickness of the
plates guarantee the batteries to satisfy as well the higher consume of electric power due to the new
equipment trends. Thanks to a special hot melt fixing the plates on the bottom of truck models, the
batteries obtain excellent resistance to vibrations and stress.

Especially designed for agricultural vehicles and vintage cars, the 6V series offer a wide range of

Born for nautical uses (yachting, fishing boats), the batteries are largely used for truck and buses too.
Produced by hand in polypropylene or wood boxes, the batteries are available just only in dry version.

Le batterie per veicoli militari vengono fornite sia nel complesso flame retardant grigio sia nel
complesso in polipropilene neutro, in tre diverse versioni di amperaggio che permettono al Cliente di
scegliere le caratteristiche che meglio rispondono alle proprie esigenze. La serie si arricchisce inoltre del
modello 12N60 che pochi al mondo annoverano nella propria gamma di produzione. Le batterie sono
disponibili sia in versione carica che in versione carica secca.
The military batteries can be supplied in PP neutral case or in Flame-retardant grey case in three
different versions of capacity to satisfy as well every use. The series includes the 12N60 battery, a
very uncommon model that only we produce in Italy. The batteries are available in both the versions
wet or dry.

La vasta gamma di modelli proposta per la serie trazione leggera cerca di soddisfare le sempre maggiori
esigenze del mercato nel campo delle idropulitrici, lavapavimenti, spazzatrici, piattaforme elevatrici, macchine da
golf, servizi per nautica e camper, energia d'emergenza, pannelli fotovoltaici, ect. La scelta della piastra piana
offre maggiori vantaggi nella manutenzione delle batterie con consumi d'acqua e tempi di ricarica decisamente
inferiori rispetto alla piastra tubolare. L'aggiunta di speciali additivi chimici all'impasto e l'utilizzo di separatori a
busta in polietilene con lana di vetro garantiscono inoltre alle batterie un elevato numero di cicli di vita
The wide range of light-traction batteries propose the answer for different application and requirement needing
deep cycles: floor machine, aerial lift, golf cars, utility vehicles, caravan and marine equipment, renewable
energy, etc. The fused plates, instead of tubular plates, guarantee an easier maintenance of the batteries due to
the lower water consumption and to the shorter recharging time. Special chemical additives and glass-mat
separators guarantee high resistance to vibration and good performance with charging and discharging cycles.

Replace the vent plugs. When the charge is finished, at
room temperature and not working, the battery should has
a tension between 12.7 V and 12.9 V.
Modalità di attivazione per batterie carica secca
Rimuovere i tappi e riempire ciascun elemento della batteria
con acido solforico alla densità di 1.27-1.28 kg/l pari a 32° Bé
(temperatura > 15°C) fino al livello massimo indicato sul
monoblocco della batteria (10-15 mm circa sopra le piastre).
Attendere 30 minuti ca. (in caso di giacenza superiore ai
quattro mesi o nei periodi freddi lasciar “riposare” e
raffreddare la batteria almeno 3 o 4 ore).
Rabboccare il livello dell'acido aggiungendo acido solforico
alla stessa densità di quello di riempimento fino a
ripristinare il livello massimo.
Verificandone l’esatta polarità (+ polo positivo, - polo
negativo), procedere all’attivazione della batteria a corrente
costante pari a 1/10 della sua capacità nominale sino al
raggiungimento, sotto carica, di una tensione di 16 V.
Riavvitare i tappi. A ricarica ultimata la batteria, a riposo, a
temperatura ambiente, dovrà avere una tensione compresa
tra 12.7 e 12.9 V ai terminali.
Modalità di ricarica per batterie con acido libero
La batteria va ricaricata a tensione costante (max 16 V) o a
corrente costante pari a 1/10 della capacità nominale della
batteria, sino al raggiungimento, sotto carica, di una
tensione nominale di 16 V.
A ricarica ultimata la batteria, a riposo, a una temperatura
ambiente, dovrà avere una tensione compresa tra 12.7 e
12.9 V ai terminali. Nel caso di giacenze superiori ai 4 mesi,
le piastre potrebbero subire delle solfatazioni irreversibili
con conseguente riduzione delle prestazioni e della durata
della batteria stessa; in tal caso è necessario utilizzare per
la ricarica un caricatore idoneo alla carica/scarica
dell’accumulatore.
Se il processo di immagazzinamento o di ricarica non viene
effettuato correttamente, utilizzando gli strumenti adatti, si
può incorrere in un’efficienza del prodotto non imputabile
ad un difetto di fabbricazione.
N.B. per i paesi a clima tropicale occorre utilizzare acido
solforico a densità di 1.23 Kg/l per il riempimento.
Dry battery activation
Remove the vent plugs and fill each battery cell with sulfuric
acid with a density of 1.27-1.28 Kg/l (1.23 Kg/l for tropical
countries) up to the acid level mark and never more than 15
mm above the top of the plates.
Wait about 30 minutes for the level to settle and then top
up where necessary.
Connect the positive battery terminal to the positive charger
terminal and negative battery terminal to the negative
charger terminal. It’s recommended to use a charging
Wet battery recharging
Batteries must only be recharged using continuous current
(max 16 V). Connect the positive battery terminal to the
positive charger terminal and negative battery terminal to
the negative charger terminal. It’s recommended to use a
charging current of 10% of the Ah capacity of the battery
(e.g. 44Ah battery = 4,4 A charging current) till 16 V
tension. When the charge is finished, at room temperature
and not working, the battery should has a tension between
12.7 V and 12.9 V.
For more than 4 months in stock it’s necessary use a special
charger able to do charge and discharge cycles.

Conservazione a magazzino di batterie con acido libero
pronte all’uso
Le batterie devono essere immagazzinate in ambiente
asciutto e ventilato, con temperatura ambiente
possibilmente non superiore ai 25°C, al riparo da raggi solari
e polvere.
Possono essere impilate l’una sull’altra a patto che i poli e i
coperchi siano adeguatamente protetti e non sia impedito
lo sfogo dei gas ed una libera circolazione dell’aria.
Le batterie inattive a magazzino si scaricano: è quindi
necessario che siano facilmente prelevabili secondo il periodo
di giacenza seguendo il criterio FIFO (First In First Out).
Si consigliano scaffalature metalliche protette da vernici
antiacido.
La conservazione delle batterie è sempre notevolmente
influenzata dalla temperatura ambiente: è quindi
opportuno verificarne la tensione ai terminali (specie dopo
un periodo estivo). Perché la batteria sia efficiente occorre
che la tensione (misurata con volmetro) sia superiore ai
12.40 V; in caso contrario è necessario ricaricare la batteria.
È consigliabile non superare i 6 mesi di giacenza.
Chiunque commercializzi una batteria dopo che siano
decorsi più di 6 mesi di stoccaggio deve controllarne lo stato
di carica per garantirne l’efficienza. Tale avvertenza è
importante al fine di evitare “rientri in garanzia” da parte
del Cliente finale perché la batteria è semplicemente scarica.
Wet batteries storage
Store in dry and cool environment (frost free), at room
temperature not higher than 25°C, sheltered from
sunbeams, powder and weather conditions.
The batteries can be stacked one of the top of the other
only if terminal and lids are sheltered and gas can circulate
freely.
Wet batteries gradually discharge during storage: that’s why
the batteries should be so arranged that they can be
properly rotated with respect to date of manufacture (FIFO
storage system).
Metal shelves with anti-acid paint are recommended.
Batteries storage depend by temperature: check regularly
the terminal voltage: it has to be more than 12.40 V; on the
contrary the battery needs to be recharged.
Wet batteries that have been in stock for 6 months are
considered “over age”.
Conservazione a magazzino delle batterie carica secca
Per le batterie carica secca valgono le stesse modalità di
conservazione a magazzino delle batterie ad acido libero
con l’unica differenza del tempo di stoccaggio che, per le
batterie a carica secca, può arrivare ai 12 mesi.
Dry battries storage
Dry batteries need the same storage conditions as wet
batteries but for longer time (12 months).
Installazione della batteria sul veicolo
Controllare con il volmetro che la tensione della batteria da
installare sia = 12,40 V.
Verificare che la capacità necessaria al mezzo (indicata dai
dati di targa della batteria da sostituire o dal costruttore
dell’automezzo) corrisponda al prodotto che si vuole
installare.
Controllare la cinghia di trasmissione dell’alternatore, le
eventuali inefficienze dell’alternatore stesso o del motorino
di avviamento ed eventuali dispersioni di tensione (il cattivo
funzionamento della batteria può essere infatti causato da
difetti di tali componenti del veicolo senza alcuna
responsabilità della batteria stessa).
A motore spento alloggiare la batteria nell’apposito vano
ed attaccare i morsetti prima al polo positivo poi al negativo.
Controllare che il contatto dei morsetti sia stretto e che il
terminale positivo non sia troppo ossidato.
Installing the battery
Check that the tension of the new battery is 12.40 V.
Check the capacity requested by the vehicle.
Check the driving belt, the alternator and the starter
because often they are directly concerned with bad working
batteries.
Switch off the engine, fill the battery in its compartment
and connect the terminals. Ensure that the clips are secured.
Norme di sicurezza
Gli accumulatori al piombo contengono acido solforico
(corrosivo) ed emettono, in particolar modo in fase di
carica/ricarica, una miscela di idrogeno ed ossigeno
potenzialmente esplosiva. Per evitare danni a cose e/o
persone occorre pertanto attenersi rigorosamente a precise
norme di sicurezza quali:
• Maneggiare con cura
• Usare protezioni individuali quali guanti, occhiali, etc.
• Utilizzare, per la ricarica delle batterie, locali con
abbondante ventilazione (naturale o forzata) per la
dispersione dei gas eventualmente sviluppati
• Non avvicinarsi o ispezionare le batterie con fiamme libere
(fiammiferi, accendini, sigarette, etc.)
• Evitare ogni causa di scintillio
• Evitare il contatto tra i due terminali della batteria
Primo soccorso
• In caso di contatto con pelle o occhi lavare
abbondantemente con acqua
• In caso di ingestione bere abbondante acqua o latte e
comunque contattare immediatamente il medico
• In caso di fuoriuscite d’acido lavare con acqua

non disperdere nell’ambiente
Precautions
Batteries contain sulfuric acid (corrosive) and give off an
explosive gas especially during charging process.
To avoid problems is better:
• Handle with caution
• Wear gloves and eyes protection
• Always charge in a well airy place
• Avoid sparking, smoking and flames when handling
batteries
• Avoid direct contact between battery terminals
First aid
• If acid splashes over the skin or into the eyes rinse
immediately with a lot of water
• If acid is swallowed drink water or milk; in every case
contact a doctor immediately
• Small spillages can be washed away with water
