La parola Tatuaggio viene da Tau, che significa
colpire, battere. Viene usato tra le popolazioni occidentali introducendo sotto pelle un pigmento
e tra le popolazioni di etnia africana o comunque
di pelle scura ,usando altre ornamenti permanenti
come l’incisione sulla pelle. Il tatuaggio, oggi cosi
cool, non sempre è stato cosi . In passato è stato
attribuito a diverse categorie socio culturali. Nella
Genesi ,il primo tatuato fu Caino , e fino a tutto l’800
, proprio per questo, il tatuaggio fu considerato il
marchio di Caino, simbolo permanente di “colpa”.
Il tattoo ha avuto una fama altalenante: da simbolo
volgare e legato alla criminalità, all’essere considerato trendy , non più simbolo di inferiorià. Che
fino al secolo scorso il tatuaggio fossi considerato
un segno di appartenenza a una clasta o a una classe sociale, o fossi d’origine criminale o nobiliare,
poco importa. Ora è un simbolo di distinzione, un
modo per raccontare sulla pelle il passato e il futuro.
The word tattoo comes from Tau, which means hitting, beat. It is used among Western populations by
introducing a pigment under the skin and between
the populations of ethnic African or otherwise dark
skin, using other ornaments permanent as the skin
incision. The tattoo, now so cool, it was not always
so. In the past it Has Been ascribed to various social and cultural categories. In Genesis, the first
tattoo was Cain, and until the end of the 800, because of it, the tattoo was considered the mark of
Cain, permanent symbol of “guilt.” The tattoo has
had a fluctuating hunger: from symbol vulgar and
related crime, being considered trendy, no longer
a symbol of inferiority. It doesn’t matter that until
the last century the tattoo were considered a sign
of belonging to a caste or a social class, or were of
criminal or noble origin. It is now a symbol of distinction, a way to tell on the skin’s past and future.

Even today, running away to join the circus has a glorious sound to it: It’s a myth of reinvention, of taking on a new identity,
of dressing in spangles and glitter and swinging above the crowds on a trapeze.
It doesn’t matter that circus performers train as long as athletes, that they’re amazingly disciplined, and that circus life is hard -- what matters is that the circus is a magical, alluring,
irresistible place -- a place that has captured the imagination for centuries.

The eighteen minutes that led to glory
The Schooner America
diciotto minuti di distacco sulla seconda barca, la britannica Aurora. La regina Vittoria,
venuta a conoscenza del primato dell’America Schooner,
domandò chi fosse arrivato al
secondo posto e fu grande la
sua sorpresa quando le venne
risposto: “there is no second
your Majesty”. Una risposta
che poteva sembrare illogica,
ma che in realtà era dovuta
all’enorme distacco ottenuto
dall’ America Schooner nei
confronti delle altre imbarcazioni quando terminò la gara.
E fu proprio in quell’occasione che nacque il motto e il
nome dell’attuale America’s
Cup there is no second !
Thinking about it, the waiting
is full of joy, expectations, curiosity, hope, as when the fist
was born. Everything is to discover, to live for the first time.
The same feeling experienced
by William H.Brown, during
the “gestation”, or better, the
construction of a work which
measured 30.9 meters, in white
oak, locust, cedar and walnut.
Launched May 3, 1851, the
ship Schooner America became immediately noticed by
participating in the 100 Guinea
Cup, offered as prizes by
Queen Victoria of England.

Ghinee, messe in palio dalla
Regina Vittoria d’Inghilterra.
Il 22 Agosto 1851, con un percorso attorno all ‘isola di Wight,
America Schooner vinse con
Dopo un periodo di gloria, l’
America Schooner fu venduta
al governo confederato, armata di 3 cannoni e infine messa
al servizio della US Navy fino
1873, quando venne radiata
e venduta all’ex generale
e politico Benjamin Franklin
Butler per 5000 $. Nelle mani
della famiglia Butler il veliero riacquistò fama e onore,
partecipando con successo a diverse regate, al punto
che dal 1921 fino ad oggi la
goletta è tutt’ora l’icona
dell’attuale America’s Cup.
Non solo. Il suo prestigio tolse luce alla celebrazione della
prima esposizione universale a
Londra , venne restaurata dalla America Restoration Found
e donata all’Accademia Nava
le di Annapolis dove, tuttavia,
questo grande pezzo di storia
americana fu alata all ‘interno
di un capannone di legno e abbandonata a suo destino .Un
destino che non volle essere
benevolo con il prediletto dei
cantieri William H.Brown. Il 29
marzo 1942, infatti, l’hangar
dove era ricoverata la goletta
crollò sotto il peso di una nevicata, danneggiandola irrimediabilmente, al punto che i suoi
resti finirono bruciati insieme
alle macerie del capannone nel
1945. Schooner America ,campione e fedele soldato al servizio delle US Navy scomparve
dunque senza una degna cerimonia, una tristestoria che non
meritava, ma che, tuttavia, tornò
a brillare nuovamente grazie
a Rudolph Shaefer, noto industriale e proprietario della birreria F&M SCHAEFER
BREWING CO, che commissionò la costruzione di una
replica identica della “ signora “ originale riutilizzando
alcune parti salvate nel crollo della struttura ,tra queste
la stufa che si trova nel salone della goletta . Il 3 Maggio 1967, finalmente, avvenne il varo, all’unanimità di
tutta la società di esperti del
settore ,gemella omozigota
dell’Americas Cup del 1851.
Replica che doveva essere
testimonial della storia della navigazione Americana .
Following a period of glory, the
‘Schooner America was sold to
the Confederate government,
armed with three guns and finally put to the service of the
US Navy until 1873, when it was
striked off and sold to former
general and politician Benjamin
Franklin Butler for $ 5,000. In
the hands of the Butler family
the ship regained fame and
honor, participating successfully in several sailing regattas,
to the point that from 1921 to
date the schooner is still the
icon of the America’s Cup.
Then, its prestige has taken visibility to the celebration of the
first World Expo in London, it
was restored by the Restoration
Found America and donated
to the Naval Academy at Annapolis, where, however, this
great piece of American history was winged inside of a wooden shed and left to its fate.
A fate that would not be kind
to the favorite of the shipyards
William H.Brown. In fact, on
March 29, 1942, the hangar
where was the schooner collapsed under the weight of a
snowfall, irreparably damaging it, to the point that its
ruins ended up burned along
with the rubble of the shed
in 1945. Schooner America,
then, champion and faithful
soldier in the service of the US
Navy, disappeared without a
worthy ceremony, a sad end
that did not deserve; however,
a path around the island of
Wight, America Schooner won
with eighteen minutes of posting the second boat, the British Aurora. Queen Victoria,
became aware of the primacy
of America Schooner, asked
who had come in second place, and great was his surprise
when he was answered: “There is no second your Majesty.” An answer that might
seem illogical, but that was
actually due to the huge gap
obtained from the American
Schooner against other boats
when he finished the race.
And it was then that was
born the motto and the
name of the current America’s Cup there is no second!
he returned to shine again
thanks to Rudolph Shaefer,
well known manufacturer and
owner of the beer house F &
M Schaefer BREWING CO,
who commissioned the construction of a original copy of
the “lady” reusing some parts
saved in the collapse of the
structure, among them the
stove located in the lounge
of the schooner. The launch
took place on May 3, 1967,
unanimously of the whole society of industry experts, homozygous twin of the Americas Cup in 1851. A copy of
which was to be a testimonial
of the history of American navigation.

è tornata a solcare le acque di
tutto il mondo e ha partecipato ad svariati eventi ..

americani che sfidarono con
un nuovo concetto la sua costruzione nel lontano 1851. Ma
è anche una scuola di vita, che
prevede l’ affiatamento di 14
marinai a bordo, che condividono l’amore e rispetto per
il mare. Lo sa bene chi vive
queste esperienze. Ogni volta
che si salpa è una sfida con il
mare e con se stessi ed ogni
volta che si ritorna in porto
si è colmi di un bagaglio di
esperienza, conoscenza tecnica e umana. Un ritorno in
porto con la consapevolezza
di essere stati previlegiati per
aver potuto vivere emozioni
su una goletta che ha tanto
da raccontare e condividere
con tutti noi .

believe today, as the six Americans who challenged with a
new concept in its construction
in 1851. But it is also a school of
life, which includes the ‘harmony of 14 sailors on board, who
share a love and respect for
the sea. Those who live these
experiences know how it feels.
Whenever we sail is a challenge

and whenever you go back to
harbor you are filled with a
wealth of experience, technical
knowledge and human. All that
with the awareness of having
been previleged to have been
able to live emotions of a schooner that has so much to tell
and share with us all.

Un giorno in cantiere ……
tutto inizia dalla secca
Alle prime luce dell’alba, a Genova, si vedono in lontananza le
imbarcazioni che entrano in porto,
bandiere a poppa di navi ormeggiate .Nella vita d’ una imbarcazione
si devono fare i conti con i periodi
di mantenimento o ristrutturazione
nella messa a secco, ovvero le cosiddette operazioni di carenaggio .
Tutti in cantiere devono essere pronti ad accogliere la nuova arrivata
,iniziando dalle manovre di entrata
nel bacino, o squero della nave.
Tutte operazioni complesse e pericolose, per le quali serve massima attenzione e cura soprattutto
quando la tramontana si fa sentire
e le correnti d’aria gelida che si riversano sul mare possono rendere
più complesso tutto l’intervento,ed
è per questo che ci vuole esperienza e dedizione per svolgere
un mestiere che viene trasmesso
da generazioni insieme alla passione per il mare . Una volta segnalata la posizione della poppa al
comandante ,la nave è pronta e
si inizia l’operazione ..finalmente la nave viene messa a secca ,
pronta per prendere vita . Inizia
così la giornata nel cantiere Navale Di SESTRI , ultra modernissima struttura inaugurata lo scorso
9 luglio ,ma di lunga tradizione .
Nati a metà degli anni cinquanta prevalentemente per la demolizione e la manutenzione di
chiatte e rimorchiatori, i Cantieri
Navali di Sestri hanno avviato la riconversione rivolta al diporto verso
la fine degli anni ‘80. I 22.000 metri quadrati di struttura accolgono le imbarcazione dove mestieri
antichi come quello del maestro
d’ascia convivono con una struttura
di progettazione e di realizzazione
al passo con i tempi. Dalla carpenteria, alla falegnameria, dalla saldatura dell’acciaio o dell’alluminio
all’ elaborazione della vetroresina,
meccanici, elettricisti , ebanisti ed
esperti in elettronica e comunicazione collaborano insieme per la
messa a nuovo . Questo cantiere,
che si trova vicinissimo alla Marina
Genova Aeroporto, il nuovissimo
Polo nautico con posizione strategica nel Mediterraneo, segnala
tra le sue attività il refitting totali
del Sea Home, navetta del 1919
, del Gin Tonic, 37 metri del 1963
uscito dal cantiere Hall Russel&co,
e quello del C5, un Riva Caravel di
23 metri del ‘67, riportato alle sue
forme originali. E se è vero che i
mestieri si imparano, a volte nella
vita e altre sui banchi di scuola,
solo se si se concilia l’arte antica
del navigare trasmesso di generazione in generazione alla passione per un mestiere che si ripete
ogni giorno, alla evoluzione e alle
nuove tecnologie si può perpetuare une delle professioni più antiche trasmesse da un popolo di navigatori. Mentre esiste nell’uomo
la curiosità di navigare, esisterà
