Biagio PROIETTI
Autore e regista, è nato a Roma il 23/06/1940; si laurea nel
1966 in giurisprudenza con una tesi in diritto
amministrativo con il professor Massimo Severo Giannini
su L’intervento dello stato nel cinema. Per il cinema ha
scritto la sceneggiatura di film come Fai in fretta ad
uccidermi... ho freddo di Maselli, La morte risale a ieri sera
(da I milanesi ammazzano il sabato di Giorgio
Scerbanenco) di Duccio Tessari, The Black Cat di Lucio
Fulci, L’assassino ha riservato nove poltrone di Giuseppe
Bennati, Chewingum e Puro cashmere, che ha anche
diretto. Nel 1970 ha inaugurato la stagione dei grandi gialli
televisivi Rai, scrivendo Coralba, Come un uragano, Lungo
il fiume e sull’acqua, Un certo Harry Brent, Ho incontrato
un’ombra, Philo Vance, Signé: Ta Claudia (prodotto dalla
Televisione Belga), La mia vita con Daniela, Doppia
indagine, Un uomo curioso, e soprattutto Dov’è Anna?
pubblicato anche come romanzo da Rizzoli nel 1976 e di
nuovo uscito adesso per Editore 21 in versione totalmente
rivista), record d’ascolto nel 1976 con 28 milioni di spettatori nella puntata finale. Sempre
per la tv ha scritto Racconti fantastici da Edgar Allan Poe, Madame Bovary, e due serie
cult di racconti del mistero Il filo e il labirinto e Il fascino dell’insolito.
Nel 1980 ha esordito nella regia con Storia senza parole, presentato in molti festival
(Praga, Locarno, Nizza, Sorrento, Montreal ecc), premiato dai critici italiani come miglior
FilmTv e trasmesso in tutto il mondo. Da allora, è anche regista delle proprie opere:
L’armadio, La casa della follia, La mezzatinta, Miriam e Sound, un film di fantascienza
con Peter Fonda.
Per la radio ha scritto e diretto, fra l’altro, Il lungo addio e Aspetterò da Raymond Chandler
e con Diana Crispo gli originali Tua per sempre Claudia (con il titolo Ta Claudia pour tou
jours trasmesso anche in Francia, Svizzera, Belgio) e Così è la vita. Per il teatro ha scritto
e diretto L’ultimo incubo di Edgar Allan Poe e Hammett n.3241.
Oltre la versione in romanzo di Dov’è Anna? ha scritto racconti (in antologie importanti
quali Il ritorno del Duca (Garzanti) e Seven, i vizi capitali(Piemme) e romanzi: Una vita
sprecata, Io sono la prova, Chiunque io sia e stanno per uscire Io che ho visto i delfini
rosa e Gelo nel cuore.
È stato presidente dell’ANART (Associazione Nazionale Autori Radiotelevisivi Teatrali) e
per due legislature presidente della Commissione DOR. Fa parte del direttivo di Writers
and Directors Worldwide (CISAC), che rappresenta gli autori drammatici e cinematografici
di tutto il mondo.

Biagio Proietti, writer and director, was born in Rome on 23 June 1940. He graduated in
Law in 1966 with a dissertation in Administrative Law with Professor Massimo Severo
Giannini titled: “The Government intervention for Cinema”.
For cinema he wrote the screenplay for films such as “Hurry up and kill me ... I'm cold” by
Maselli, “Death dates back to last night” (from “People from Milan kill on Saturday” by
Giorgio Scerbanenco) by Duccio Tessari, “The Black Cat” by Lucio Fulci , “The murderer
has reserved nine seats” by Giuseppe Bennati, and “Chewingum and Pure cashmere”,
which Biagio Proietti also directed.
In 1970 Biagio Proietti opened the season of the great detective stories broadcasted by
Rai Italian Television, by writing “Coralba”, “Like a hurricane”, “Along the river and on the
water”, “A certain Harry Brent”, “I met a shadow”, “Philo Vance”, “Signé: Ta Claudia”
(produced by Belgian Television), “My Life with Daniela”, “Double investigation”, “A curious
man”, and, above all, “Where is Anna?” also published as a novel by Rizzoli in 1976 and
recently republished for Editore 21 in a totally revised version), that registered the highest
average audience rating in 1976 with 28 million viewers in the final episode. Also for TV
Biagio Proietti wrote “Fantastic tales” by Edgar Allan Poe, “Madame Bovary”, and two cult
series of mystery tales “The thread and the maze” and “The charm of the unusual”.
In 1980 he made his directorial debut with “Story with no words”, presented to many
festivals (Prague, Locarno, Nice, Sorrento, Montreal etc.), awarded by Italian Film Critics
as the best Film for TV and broadcasted all around the world. Since then, Biagio Proietti
also started working as a director of his own works: “The Wardrobe”, “The House of
Madness”, “The Half Tone”, “Miriam” and “Sound”, a science fiction film starring Peter
Fonda.
For radio he wrote and directed, among the others, “The Long Goodbye” and “I’ll wait” by
Raymond Chandler and he wrote with Diana Crispo the eccentric “Yours forever Claudia”
(titled “Ta Claudia pour toujours” also broadcasted in France, in Switzerland and in
Belgium) and “So is life”. For theater he wrote and directed “The Ultimate Nightmare” by
Edgar Allan Poe and “Hammett n.3241”.
In addition to the novel version of “Where's Anna?” Biagio Proietti wrote short stories (in
important anthologies such as “The Return of the Duke” published by Garzanti) and
“Seven, the deadly sins” published by Piemme and other novels: “A wasted life”, “I am
proof”, “Whoever I am” and are about to be released “I, who saw pink dolphins” and “Frost
in the heart”. Biagio Proietti was President of ANART (National Association of Theater
Radio-Television Composers) and President of the Commission DOR for two terms.
Biagio Proietti is a member of the executive board of writers and directors Worldwide
(CISAC), which represents playwrights and filmmakers from all around the world.
