Nato nell’Ohio nel 1954, Ron cominciò a disegnare fin dalla tenera età di tre anni. Il suo
bagaglio culturale italiano gli fece scoprire l’arte in giovane età. Attraverso diversi viaggi
in Italia durante le vacanze estive, i suoi genitori lo introdussero al lavoro dei maestri, la cui
influenza vive tutt’oggi nei suoi lavori, avendo Ron fatto riferimento a questi lungo tutta la
sua prima fase di crescita.
Nel 1970 la sua famiglia si trasferì a Long Island e Ron cominciò la sua formazione professionale nella School of Visual Arts di New York City. Lì gli fu assegnata una borsa di studio, con la quale conseguì il diploma universitario in Belle Arti, diventando così il più giovane insegnante della scuola. Ron teneva corsi universitari di illustrazione quando aveva
solo vent’anni.
Poco tempo dopo, Ron cominciò la sua carriera come libero artista editoriale; produsse lavori per numerose riviste e case di produzione: Ballantine Books, Bantam Books,
Doubleday, RCA Records, Field e Stream, Sports Illustrated e per il periodico “Time”. Fece
parte per un periodo dello staff dei creativi della celeberrima “Tiffany & Co.”, in qualità di
disegnatore dei gioielli e della preziosa oggettistica. Inclusi in questi lavori troviamo anche
Piatti commemorativi di Washington, scatole Battersea per l’anniversario del ponte di
Brooklyn e della Statua della Libertà. Disegnò anche come specialità articoli da regalo per
Sony, IBM e Caesar’s Palace.
Nel 1978 a Ron fu commissionato un quadro per il debutto del regista italiano Ermanno
Olmi, con il film “L’albero degli zoccoli”, che vinse il festival cinematografico di Cannes. Il
quadro di Ron più tardi venne usato come poster promozionale nell’area di New York City.
Nel 1995 ebbe inizio per Ron il più grande cambiamento della sua vita. Durante le vacanze in Italia, nella città natale dei suoi genitori, egli rimase così affascinato dalla bellezza
del paesaggio e delle persone, che decise di spendere tempo in più per dipingere le sue
nuove opere. Nella poesia dei colori dell’Italia egli trovò “Un’aura di pace che raramente
si trova in qualsiasi altra parte del mondo”. Fu durante questi mesi che Ron conobbe la sua
musa ispiratrice, Maria.
Oggi Ron è felicemente sposato e risiede in una pittoresca provincia nel Molise, regione
centrale dell’Italia. A chi gli chiede quale sia il suo più grande lavoro, egli risponde che è
suo figlio, di due anni.
Ron posside un esteso portafoglio di dipinti figurativi, che dice, sono ispirati agli artisti John
Singer Sargent e Joaquin Sorolla.
I lavori di Ron possono essere ammirati presso gallerie negli Stati Uniti e in Italia, e nelle
collezioni permanenti di molte corporazioni di Long Island e New York.
Il suo dipinto commissionato per il tradizionale avvenimento di carattere religioso, la
“N’docciata”, che si svolge nella provincia di Isernia ogni Vigilia di Natale, è attualmente
esposto nella residenza Papale.
Se guardo Ronney negli occhi, io vedo la passione del sogno di un bambino a cui piaceva disegnare, vedo la determinazione di un ragazzo che ha avuto il coraggio e la costanza di rincorrere quel sogno di bambino, vedo la felicità di un uomo che guarda il suo sogno
diventare sempre più reale.

Born in Ohio in 1954, Ron began drawing at the early age of three. His italian heritage
exposed him to art at a young age. Through several early trips to Italy during summer vacations, his parents introduced him to the work of the Master. Ron would look at these influences throughout his early development and they are still evident in his work today.
In 1970 his family moved to Long Island and Ron began his formal training at the School
of Visual Arts in New York City. There, he was awared a scholarship, earned his Bachelor’s
Degree in Fine Art, and became the youngest instructor at the school. He taught
Undergraduate courses in Illustration when he was only twenty years old.
Soon after, he began his career as a freelance editorial artist; Ron has produced work for
Ballantine Books, Bantam Books, Doubleday, RCA Records, Field and Stream, Sports
Illustrated, and Time Magazine. Ron also worked for Tiffany and Company, in their corporate division, where he was assigned to design jewelry and art object. Included in these
works are the Washington Commemorative Plates, and Battersea boxes for the anniversary
of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. He also designed specialty gift items for
Sony, IBM, and Caesar’s Palace.
In 1978 Ron was commissioned to produce a painting for the debut of the italian movie
director, Ermanno Olmi’s film “the Tree of the Wooden Clogs”, (L’albero degli Zoccoli).
The film became the winner of the Cannes Film Festival. This painting was later used as the
promotional poster in the New York City area.
In 1995 Ron began what would be a major life change. While vacationing in Italy, in the
hometown of his parents, he was so draws to the beauty of the land and the people that
he decided to spend some extra time to paint for his portfolio. In Italy he found “an aura of
light rarely seen anywhere else in the world”. It was during these months that he met his
inspiration and muse, Maria.
Today, Ron is happily married and resides in the mountainous and picturesque province of
Molise, Italy. When asked what is his greatest work, he points to his two-years-old son.
Ron has an extensive portfolio of figurative paintings, which he says were inspired by the
artists John Singer Sargent, and Joaquin Sorolla.
Ron’s works can be seen at galleries in the United States Italy and appear in the permanent
collections of many Long Island and New York corporations, as well the private sector.
His commisssioned painting of “N’ Doccciata”, is currently displayed in the Papal residency.
