atteso appuntamento di categoria A in quel
di Menton, la rinomata località della Costa
Azzurra a ridosso del confine italiano, si è
tenuto il 21 ed il 22 giugno scorsi, in una atmosfera davvero rovente e non ci riferiamo esclusivamente all’aspetto meteorologico, peraltro scontato.
Gli oltre centoventi soggetti iscritti in gara e provenienti dall’Europa e da tutto il Medio Oriente
che conta, in termini di numeri e di campioni posseduti, facevano prevedere già alla vigilia grande
agonismo e lotte serrate per un mezzo punto, poi i

he much awaited Class A appointment in Menton,
the well-known town on the Côte d’Azur at the border between Italy and France, was held on June 21
and 22. The atmosphere was really hot, and we are not just
talking about the weather, which is usually sunny at this
time of the year. In the days before the event, the competitors
list of over 120 horses from Europe and the Middle East
that counts in terms of number of champions owned, made
you already envisage great competitiveness and hard fights
for half a point. On the actual days there were less participants tha expected but you could really feel the tension in the

Il 21 e 22 giugno scorsi si è tenuta la 15ma edizione
del campionato di categoria “A” ECAHO
nella splendida Menton, in Francia.
The 15th edition of the ECAHO “A” Championship
was held in the wonderful setting of Menton (France)
on June 21 and 22.

soggetti realmente presentati in gara sono stati meno
del previsto, ma la tensione è stata davvero palpabile.
D’altronde non può che essere così quando a scontrarsi in campo troviamo campioni provenienti dai quattro continenti sui quali si concentrano tante aspettative. Lo show di Menton non poteva esimersi da quanto
detto, la qualità in campo era davvero notevole. Da
sottolineare l’alto numero di soggetti bai e sauri presenti in ogni categoria, inusuale negli anni scorsi e la
discreta quantità, in termini numerici, di soggetti di
pura razza egiziana che in genere non trovano il giusto

was truly exceptional. It is
worth highlighting the
unusually numerous presence of bay and chestnut horses in
each category compared to previous years, and the good number of straight Egyptians, which are generally underrepresented in these types of events, often participating only in
Egyptian or theme-based events. The scenes were of high
quality as usual and so was also the organization, managed
by Mrs. Christianne Chazel with the support of Jean Pierre
Chazel (directors), Mrs. Dominik Briot (assistant), Mrs.
Dominique Quet (secretary), Mr. José Marty (ring master),
Roger Crozet (veterinarian), Guillaume Robbe, Maud
Briot, Hassan Valsan, Martine Marty, J-Marie Roques,
Ludo Suau and Margot Chazel. The experienced speaker
Mr. Guy De Fontaines did also an excellent job. Five judges
had been appointed for this event: Mr. Jarzy Bialobok (Poland), Mrs. Silvia Garde-Ehlert (Germany), Dr. Mohammed Machmoum (Morocco), Mrs. Ann Norden (Sweden)
and Mr. Francesco Santoro (Italy). The event had the support of the Town of Menton in the person of Mr. Jean Claude Guibal, the Honorary Presidency of Mr. Essam Abdalla,
General Manager of E.A.H.S. (United Arab Emirates),

spazio in queste manifestazioni agonistiche e spesso
vengono presentati solo agli Egyptian Event o manifestazioni a tema. Bella come sempre la scenografia in
campo ed ottima l’organizzazione dell’evento, gestito
dalla sig.ra Christianne Chazel coadiuvata da Jean
Pierre Chazel in qualità di Direttori, dalla sig.ra Dominik Briot in qualità di assistente, dalla sig.ra Dominique Quet nella gestione della segreteria, dal sig. José
Marty responsabile di campo, ed ancora dai sigg. Roger Crozet Dottore Veterinario, Guillaume Robbe,
Maud Briot, Hassan Valsan, Martine Marty, J-Marie
Roques, Ludo Suau, Margot Chazel. Ottimo il lavoro
svolto dal consumato speaker il sig. Guy De Fontaines. Cinque i giudici designati per l’occasione, il sig.
Jarzy Bialobok dalla Polonia, la sig.ra Silvia GardeEhlert dalla Germania, il dr. Mohammed Machmoum
dal Marocco, la sig.ra Ann Norden dalla Svezia e il dr.
Francesco Santoro dall’Italia. Con il patrocinio della
Città di Menton nella persona del sig. Jean Claude
Guibal, la Presidenza Onoraria del sig. Essam Abdalla, direttore generale dell’E.A.H.S. degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, con la partecipazione in qualità di Membri
Onorari del sig. Christian Patria, Presidente del Salon
Du Cheval di Parigi e del sig. Claude Serre, Presidente dell’ACA, lo show ha avuto inizio con lo svolgimento delle categorie delle femmine a partire dalle
puledre di un anno, categoria suddivisa in due sezioni.
Per la sezione A della categoria delle puledre di un
anno, sponsorizzata dall’Al Khalediah Stables (KSA),
si aggiudica il primo posto ed il premio per la “Testa
più bella” offerto da Rabab Stud dall’Egitto, *Miss El
Power JQ (Power World JQ x Elkada Sahibi), già
Campionessa nazionale Brasiliana lo scorso anno, presentata, in questa occasione, da Michael Byatt e di
proprietà dell’Al Shaqab Stud (QAT). Secondo posto
di categoria per la pura egiziana *PSE Rasheekah
(Royal Colours x Imperial Baarezah), presentata da
Paolo Capecci, che ne ha esaltato il movimento, allevata e di proprietà del Prestige BVBA_P Groenen &
Bongaris (B). Terzo posto per *Djoonam OS (Ajman
Moniscione x Khaleifa), presentata da Scott Allman e
di proprietà della sig.ra Nicole Pinchinat (FR). Per la
sezione B della stessa categoria, sponsorizzata dall’Halsdon Arabians (UK), un pari merito, risolto da un
punto in più in tipicità, caratterizza le prime posizioni.
La spunta *Nadjah Al Zobair (Marwan Al Shaqab x
JFN Bint Ludhan) ben presentata da Schoukens, alle-

off with the female categories, starting with the yearling fillies, divided into two sections. With regards to section A of
the yearling fillies category, sponsored by the Al Khalediah
Stables (KSA), the winner of the top place and of the “Best
Head” prize presented by the Rabab Stud (Egypt) was
*Miss El Power JQ (Power World JQ x Elkada Sahibi),
National Brazilian Champion last year, presented this year
by Michael Byatt and owned by the Al Shaqab Stud (QAT).
Second place in the category for the straight Egyptian *PSE
Rasheekah (Royal Colours x Imperial Baarezah), presented
by Paolo Capecci, who was able to highlight her movement.
This filly is bred and owned by Prestige BVBA_P Groenen
& Bongaris (B). The third place went to *Djoonam OS (Ajman Moniscione x Khaleifa), presented by Scott Allman and
owned by Mrs. Nicole Pinchinat (FR). A tie characterized
section B of the same category, sponsored by Halsdon Arabians (UK), which was resolved by one point more in type.
To obtain the higher score was *Nadjah Al Zobair (Marwan Al Shaqab x JFN Bint Ludhan), well presented by
Schoukens, bred and owned by Sh. Abdulla Bin Mohammed
Ali Al Thani (UAE). With the same score but finishing in
second place was another talented filly, *Baila De Djoon OS
(Ajman Moniscione x Shak Shakira), a multiwinner in several international shows, presented by Scott Allman and
owned by Sh. Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi (UAE).
Third place for the chestnut *Aja Aphrodite (WH Justice x
Lovin Spyche SSA) which was awarded the “Best Head”
prize presented by the Rabab Stud (EG). She was presented
by Michael Byatt and is owned by Mistyca Arabians (Australia). The category of two-year-old fillies, sponsored by
Mrs. Anne Heiloo from Austria, had eight wonderful participants, and the top places were decreed by very narrow
margins. Thanks to an excellent score, the winner was the
beautiful *Abha Palma (Marwan Al Shaqab x Abha Gazali), which obtained also the “Best Head” prize presented by
the Rabab Stud (Egypt). She was presented by Philip Looyens, bred by Ses Planes of Marieta Salas (ES) and sold just
before the start of the show to a newly-established stud from
Saudi Arabia, the Al Mohammadiah Stables. Second with a
margin of one point was *Psyche Victoria (Ekstern x Pallas
Atena), Reserve Champion at the Wells Championship, presented by Johanna Ullstrom and owned by Chrcynno Palace
Stud of Krzysztof Poszepczynski (Poland). Third place for
*Lady Adelina DD (Psytadel x Monogrammed Lady), pre-

e di proprietà dello Sh. Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi (UAE). Terzo posto per la saura *Aja Aphrodite
(WH Justice x Lovin Spyche SSA) che ottiene il premio per la “Testa più bella” offerto da Rabab Stud

puledre di due anni, sponsorizzata dalla sig.ra Anne

contese i primi posti, ottenuti con scarti di punteggio
davvero risicati. Con ottimi punteggi si aggiudica il

“Testa più bella” offerto da Rabab Stud dall’Egitto,

sette, ma di alto rango, le partecipanti alla categoria di tre anni, anch’essa sponsorizzata dalla
sig.ra Anne Heiloo. Pari merito, risolto questa
volta da un solo mezzo punto di differenza in
tipicità, anche per il podio di questa categoria.
La spunta la bella *Om El Bernadette (Om El
Shahmaan x Om El Benedict) che ottiene anche
il premio per la “Testa più bella” offerto da Rabab Stud dall’Egitto. Questa splendida puledra,
allevata in USA e presentata da Philippe Hosay, è
di proprietà dell’Al Khalediah Stables (KSA). A
seguire l’altrettanto affascinante *PS Rose Off
Marwan (Marwan Al Shaqab x PD Rose Maho-gany), cavalla ben conosciuta visti i risultati otte-nuti che ottiene sempre ottimi riscontri dalle giu-rie, anch’essa allevata in USA. Presentata daa

Dejonckleere (Belgium). Only seven but high quality participants in the category of three-year-old fillies, which was
also sponsored by Mrs. Anne Heiloo. A tie for the podium
was resolved this time by half a point in type. The winner
was the lovely *Om El Bernadette (Om El Shahmaan x Om
El Benedict) which obtained also the “Best Head” prize presented by the Rabab Stud (Egypt). This wonderful filly,
bred in the USA and presented by Philippe Hosay, is owned
by Al Khalediah Stables (KSA). She was followed by another charming filly, *PS Rose Of Marwan (Marwan Al
Shaqab x PD Rose Mahogany), well known thanks to her
achievements, constant recipient of outstanding scores by the
judges. She was also bred in the USA. Presented by Giacomo
Capacci, this filly is owned by the Al Shaqab Stud (QAT).
Third place by a tiny margin – as one can expect, given the
extremely high quality of participants – for the wonderful
American bay owned by the Ajman Stud of H.H. Sh. Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi (UAE): we are talking about
the beautiful *Kharrea PGA (Kadraj NA x Gai Portia),
which did and excellent show and was well presented by
Franck Sponle. Highly competitive was also the category of
mares aged 4 to 6, sponsored by the Al Bidayer Stud (UAE).
As many as nine young mares gave their best in the ring. The
category and the “Best Head” prize presented by the Rabab
Stud (Egypt) was won by the outstanding *Venetzia (Versace x Giavanna), a guarantee rather than a horse, because
she has never underperformed in any ring and at any

presenza di soggetti di qualità così elevata, per la

*Kharrea PGA (Kadraj NA x Gai Portia), ben presentata da Franck Sponle. Molto combattuta anche la categoria delle fattrici dai quattro ai sei anni, sponsorizzata dall’Al Bidayer Stud (UAE). Ben nove giovani
fattrici hanno dato il meglio di se nel ring. Vince la
categoria ed il premio per la “Testa più bella” sempre
offerto da Rabab Stud dall’Egitto, la sempre strepitosa
*Venetzia (Versace x Giavanna), una garanzia più che
un cavallo, non l’abbiamo mai vista in un ring non
esprimersi al meglio ed a qualsiasi latitudine. Per chi
non lo sapesse questa splendida saura, presentata da
Giacomo Capacci, è di proprietà dell’Al Shaqab Stud
(QAT). Con ottimi punteggi generali ed una differenza risicata, ottiene il secondo posto la grigia *Lumiar
Bint Balzac (Lumiar Balzac x Supreme Focus), autrice
di un ottimo show, presentata da Paolo Capecci e di
proprietà della Dubai Arabian Horse Stud (UAE).
Terzo posto per *Abha Myra (Marwan Al Shaqab x
ZT Ludjakalba) di proprietà dell’Al Shaqab Stud
(QAT). Sponsorizzata dall’Al Shaqab Stud (QAT), a
seguire, si è svolta la categoria delle fattrici dai sette
anni di età in su. Su tutte la pura egiziana *Simeon
Sehavi (Asfour x Simeon Sheba), una saura dorata allevata in Australia ed acquistata di recente dalla Dubai
Arabian Horse Stud (UAE), Riserva Campionessa
allo show tenutosi a Las Vegas, ben presentata da Paolo Capecci. Seconda classificata ed autrice di uno
show convincente la grigia *Oso Axotica (Monogramm x Algoda) presentata da Cristian Franceschina
e di proprietà del sig. Lobello Daniele (IT). Terza posizione per la splendida *Fer Mia ( JK Nasser x Martinique) che ottiene il premio per la “Testa più bella”,
sempre offerto da Rabab Stud, presentata da Paolo
Capecci e di proprietà della Dubai Arabian Horse
Stud (UAE). Ben undici i partecipanti alla categoria
dei puledri maschi di un anno, sponsorizzata dalla Elite Arabians dal Marocco. Il podio è stato caratterizzato da distacchi minimi tra i primi tre classificati. Bella
prova che gli vale il primo posto per il tipico *Gazan
Al Nasser (Gazal Al Shaqab x Ftoon Al Shaqab) che
ottiene il premio per la “Testa più bella”, offerto da

(Monogramm x Algoda) presented by Cristian Franceschina and owned by Mr. Daniele Lobello (IT). She was followed in third place by the wonderful *Fer Mia (JK Nasser x
Martinique), which obtained also the “Best Head” prize,
always presented by the Rabab Stud, presented by Paolo Capecci and owned by the Dubai Arabian Horse Stud (UAE).
The category of yearling colts, sponsored by Elite Arabians
(Morocco) had eleven participants. The top three horses were
separated by tiny margins. The performance that was worth
the top place was that by the typey *Gazan Al Nasser (Gazal
Al Shaqab x Ftoon Al Shaqab), which won the Best Head
prize presented by the Rabab Stud. This colt was bred and is
owned by H.H. Sh. Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani (QAT),
excellently presented by Schoukens. An outstanding performance also by the second best of this category, which was
awarded good general scores and a very high score in movement. We are talking about the bay *RFI Farid (RFI
Maktub x RFI Fayara El Shiraz), a very correct colt bred in
Brazil and owned by Giuseppe Palumbo (Italy) of the Aretusa Arabians, Reserve Champion at last year’s Brazilian
National Championship. The colt was well presented by
Luca Oberti. Third place for *Joy’s Creation (Psytadel x Silk
Melodie), bred and owned by Joy Horses (B) and presented
by Schoukens. The category of two-year-old colts, sponsored
by Al Khalediah Stables (KSA) consisted of six participants,
and the winner was *Ash Antares (Ekstern x La Diva)
which obtained also the “Best Head” prize presented by the
Rabab Stud. He was presented by Schoukens and is owned
by Sh. Khaled Bagedo (KSA). The second place went to
*Preemium (WH Justice x Pricilla) presented by Paolo Capecci for Dubai Arabian Horse Stud (UAE). The third place

da Schoukens. Ottima prova anche per il secondo
classificato, che ottiene buoni punteggi generali ed ottimi in movimento. Parliamo del baio *RFI Farid (RFI
Maktub x RFI Fayara El Shiraz), soggetto molto corretto allevato in Brasile e di proprietà dell’italiano
Giuseppe Palumbo dell’Aretusa Arabians già Riserva
Campione al Nazionale lo scorso anno in Brasile. Il
puledro è stato ben presentato da Luca Oberti. Terzo
posto per *Joy’s Creation (Psytadel x Silk Melodie),
allevato e di proprietà della Joy Horses (B) e presentato da Schoukens. La categoria dei puledri di due anni,
sponsorizzata dall’Al Khalediah Stables (KSA), ha visto in campo sei soggetti, sui quali si è imposto *Ash
Antares (Ekstern x La Diva) che ottiene anche il premio per la “Testa più bella”, offerto da Rabab Stud,

Franck Sponle. Terzo posto per un altro bel soggetto autore di un’ottima prova, parliamo di
*Shagran Al Nasser (Ansata Selman x Dana Al
Nasser) allevato e di proprietà della Al Nasser
Stud dal Qatar e presentato da Schoukens. Ben
più nutrita numericamente la categoria successiva, quella degli stalloni dai quattro agli otto anni
di età, sponsorizzata dall’Al Nasser Stud (QAT).
Ottimi punteggi per il primo classificato, il grigioo

(UK) had six participants. The winner with a very high
score was *Baanderos (Marwan Al Shaqab x HB Bessolea),
presented by Philippe Hosay for the Al Khalediah Stables of
H.H. Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud
(KSA). Second place for the outstanding *AJ Dinar (WH
Justice x Deska HJE) bred and owned by the Ajman Stud of
H.H. Sh. Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi (UAE), well
presented by Franck Sponle. The third place went to another
beautiful colt which performed very well, *Shagran Al Nasser (Ansata Selman x Dana Al Nasser) bred and owned by
the Al Nasser Stud (Qatar) and presented by Schoukens. The
subsequent category, stallions aged 4 to 8 sponsored by the Al
Nasser Stud (QAT) had many more entries. The gray *Nijem Ibn Eternity (Eternity Ibn Navarrone x Narav WA),
presented by Philippe Hosay for the Al Khalediah Stables of
H.H. Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud
(KSA) won this category with excellent scores. He was followed in second place by the amazing *Marajj (Marwan Al
Shaqab x RGA Kouress). The congratulations seem totally
redundant, considering that he is the World Champion
2007, yet we still would like to congratulate this young stallion which seems to be more sculpted rather than real and
fully deserves the prize for the “Best Head” presented by the
Rabab Stud. Presented by Scott Allman, this wonderful stallion is

posto per lo strepitoso *Marajj (Marwan Al Shaqab x
RGA Kouress), sembrano quasi scontati trattandosi
del campione del mondo 2007, ma sono tutti meritati
e doverosi i complimenti per questo giovane stallone
che sembra scolpito più che reale e che merita il premio per la “Testa più bella”, offerto da Rabab Stud.
Presentato da Scott Allman questo meraviglioso stallone è di proprietà di Sh. Mohammed Bin Saud Al
Qasimi (UAE). Al terzo posto si attesta *Imperial Bareeg (Imperial Baarez x Imperial Karnah), presentato
da Steve Dady per Tarek e Ahmed Hamdy Soliman
(EG). Solo quattro i partecipanti alla categoria degli
stalloni dai nove anni in su, ma non è certo mancata
l’emozione. Sponsorizzata dall’Al Khalediah Stables
(KSA), i quattro soggetti hanno dato il meglio di loro
regalando forti emozioni, come sempre accade in questa categoria. Mezzo punto di differenza tra i primi
due classificati ha posto al primo posto l’arci noto, non
solo per le sue performance di tutto rispetto, *WH Justice (Magnum Psyche x Vona Sher Renea), stallone a
cui si devono, anche, parecchi campioni in show internazionali. Ben otto venti in tipicità e testa e collo ed
ottimi risultati generali, oltre ovviamente il premio per
la “Testa più bella” della categoria, gli regalano il primo posto, per la gioia del proprietario, la Equid Sistem LTD (IT), ben presentato da Franck Sponle.
Secondo posto per l’altro grigio, anch’esso ben conosciuto, il puro egiziano *Imperial Baarez (PVA Karim
x BB Ora Kalilah), apparso non al top vista l’intensa
stagione di monta da cui proviene ma dal fascino inconfondibile, ben presentato da Paolo Capecci per Tarek e Ahmed Hamdy Soliman (EG). Staccato al terzo
posto ed a pari merito con il quarto classificato, Khidar, si attesta *Emrod (Emigrant x Empressa) di proprietà del sig. Joseph Geenen (FR). Il Campionato
finale ha riservato le solite emozioni e qualche sorpresa. Per il campionato delle puledre, sponsorizzato dalla Dubai Arabian Horse Stud (UAE), titolo di Campionessa, o meglio, Medaglia d’Oro per la bella *Miss

*Imperial Bareeg (Imperial Baarez x Imperial Karnah),
presented by Steve Dady for Tarek and Ahmed Hamdy Soliman (EG) finished in third place. For the category of stallions aged 9 and up there were only four but thrilling participants. Sponsored by Al Khalediah Stables (KSA), the four
horses competed at their best and gave goose bumps to the
spectators, as it is often the case in this category. Half a point
of difference between the first and the second placed *WH
Justice (Magnum Psyche x Vona Sher Renea) on top, a very
well known stallion, not only for his incredible performances, which has sired several champions at international
shows. A staggering eight 20s in type and head and neck,
outstanding general scores and the “Best Head” prize in this
category placed him on the top place, to the joy of his owner
Equid Sistem LTD (IT), well presented by Franck Sponle.
The second place went to the other gray, very well known
participant, the straight Egyptian *Imperial Baarez (PVA
Karim x BB Ora Kalilah), which did not appear to be in top
form due to the demanding covering season. Nevertheless he
was unmistakeably charming as usual and was well presented by Paolo Capecci for Tarek and Ahmed Hamdy Soliman
(EG). In third place and in a tie with the fourth (Khidar)
was *Emrod (Emigrant x Empressa) owned by Mr. Joseph
Geenen (FR). The Final Championship was thrilling as
usual and provided a few surprises. For the filly championship, sponsored by the Dubai Arabian Horse Stud (UAE),
the Champion title or, better, the Gold Medal went to the
beautiful *Miss El Power JQ, wonderfully presented by Michael Byatt and owned by the Al Shaqab Stud (QAT). The
Silver Medal was awarded to the typey *Nadjah Al Zobair,
well presented by the Schoukens Training Center, bred and
