R425A
R425A is a new environment-friendly refrigerant to replace R22, R502 and R407C in commercial
air conditioning / heat pump, industrial process refrigeration, cold-storage refrigeration and
transport refrigeration etc.
Technique Characters:
1. Environment-Friendly, No CFCs and HCFCs;
2. Non-Toxic and Non-Flammable;
3. Thermophysical Properties similar to R22 and R407C;
4. No Need to Modify the Existing System and Lubricant Oil;
5. Drop-in.

2. Main Technique Parameters
Main technique parameters of R425A, R22, R502 and R407C are listed in Table 1. It shows
that R425A has such advantages as higher critical temperature, larger latent heat, larger thermal
conductivity and lower viscosity than R407C. The curves of saturated vapor pressure of R425A,
R22, R502 and R407C are showed in Figure 1. It shows that R425A has near saturated pressure
curve as R22 and R407C etc.

3. Environmental Parameters
The Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and Global Warming Potential (GWP) values of R425A,
R22 and R407C etc. are listed in Table 2. It shows that R425A has zero ODP value as R407C and
lower GWP value than R22 and R407C etc.

4. Safety
Like R22 and R407C, R425A is classified as A1, i.e. non-toxic and non-flammable.
5. Cycle Performance Parameters
The theoretical cycle performance parameters of R425A, R22, R502 and R407C are listed in
Table 3 in the standard cycle condition, i.e. the evaporating temperature is 7.2 °C, the
condensing temperature is 54.4 °C, the superheated temperature is 11.1 °C, the subcooling
temperature is 8.3 °C and the adiabatic efficiency of compressor is 0.72. In Table 3, pe is the
evaporating pressure, pc is the condensing pressure, T2 is the exhausting temperature of
compressor, ∆T is the glide temperature, COP is the coefficient of performance, q0 is the
capacity per mass and qv is the capacity per volume. Among these, COP, q0 and qv are the relative
values to R22. It shows that R425a has better cycle performance than R502 and R407C, even
than R22.
The tests show that R425A has better cycle performance than R407C and R22.

6. Compatibility and Miscibility
According to the results of the compatibility tests based on present international standards,
R425A is compatible with metals, plastics and elastic materials of original systems of R22, R502
and R407C. It doesn’t need to change any component.
According to the results of the miscibility tests, R425A is miscible with POE oil and PAG oil,
and weakly miscible with MO oil.
