Qualche tempo fa un noto mobilificio svedese aveva fatto parlare
di sé trasformando il leggendario teatro Olympia di Parigi nell’inaspettata location di una campagna pubblicitaria per promuovere
i propri letti. Oggi in Malesia l’idea è stata ripresa e trasformata in
realtà: in alcune sale dei cinema TGV, lo spettatore può concedersi
il privilegio di guardare un film comodamente sdraiato sui beanbag,
confortevoli letti a due piazze, da condividere con la propria metà o
con gli amici. E se il film fosse troppo noioso, che male ci sarebbe a
schiacciare un pisolino?

designer di 26 anni, ha dichiarato di essersi ispirata al periodo dell’adolescenza quando tutti a scuola usavano il cuscino
per fare pratica con i baci. Forse il risultato estetico è un po'
inquietante, ma di certo farà felice i teenager più inesperti!

mouth to learn how to kiss. The creator, Emily King, a 26 year
old designer, said she was inspired during the adolescence
period when everyone at school used the pillow to practice
kissing. Perhaps the aesthetic result is a bit disturbing, but it
certainly will make happy the least experienced teenagers!

e quella d’Africa, nell’ombelico del Mediterraneo, le calette
rocciose dell’isola di Pantelleria sono
state da sempre teatro di miti e racconti.
A cominciare da Omero, che nella sua
Odissea ne fece l’accogliente dimora
della dea Calipso. Ulisse vi naufragò,
scampando ai gorghi di Scilla e Cariddi
e trovando rifugio nella Grotta di Sàtaria, riscaldata dall’amore della dea e dalle
vasche naturali d’acqua termale. Tutt’ora
è possibile inoltrarsi al suo interno, a ridosso di una caletta nella zona sud-ovest
dell’isola, per godere del tepore delle sue
sorgenti.
Pantelleria è sfondo di un altro amore
mitico e divino, quello tra Venere e Bacco. Leggenda vuole che Venere, ebbra
d’amore per il dio, fosse solita accompa-
gnarlo nel suo peregrinare per le isole del
Mediterraneo. Prima di ogni incontro la
dea della bellezza si andava a specchiare
in un lago dell’isola e sospirava, triste,
per la passione che Bacco riservava al
vino e negava a lei. Di sera ancora oggi è
possibile ascoltare quei sospiri, trasportati dal vento verso le rive del lago che
prende nome dal mito: lo Specchio di
Venere, un gioiello azzurro incastonato
tra le colline verdi smeraldo dell’isola.
Alimentato dal Mediterraneo e da calde
sorgenti sotterranee, le sue acque si colorano di bianco e di blu, lì dove il mare
si riversa nell’antica caldera. Il fondale
è ricco dei minerali sulfurei che, oltre a
donare all’acqua le sue sfumature caratteristiche, hanno proprietà rinvigorenti:
un tuffo nello Specchio costituisce un
trattamento ai fanghi naturale e completo. Ma se la dea della bellezza ha saputo
scegliere un lago degno di lei, il dio della
vendemmia non poteva essere da meno.
L’isola del vento è famosa per i suoi vini
DOC, come il Passito di Pantelleria, dolce e ambrato, ottenuto dall’uva Zibibbo
che viene lasciata essiccare naturalmente al sole, o il Malvasia, che prende il
nome dall’uva da cui viene lavorato. Ma
l’ombelico del mare non è solo terra di
fantasia. Nei secoli ci misero piede Fenici, Bizantini, Romani, Arabi e Normanni e ciascun popolo ha lasciato testimonianze del suo passaggio. Così troviamo
assieme i Sesi, antichissimi monumenti
funerari dalla forma ellittica, e il castello
Barbacane, costruito da mani bizantine
ma ampliato da ogni popolo che riuscì
ad espugnarlo, e, ancora, l’architettura
araba dei dammusi.
Se Pantelleria è legata a doppio filo a
miti e racconti, Lampedusa non è da
meno. Per Platone e Diodoro l’isola e il
suo arcipelago andavano a comporre il
continente sommerso di Atlantide, abitato da elefanti e calpestato dai giganti.
Forse ad oggi entrambi non fanno più
parte della colorita fauna locale, ma la siciliana Lampedusa resta comunque una
terra d’Africa dove convivono tradizioni
e culture diverse: come quella africana, che ritroviamo nel cuscus di cernia,
piatto tipico che sintetizza l’incontro
gastronomico tra l’isola e il continente
africano; gli antichi costumi, gialloblù
come il gonfalone di Lampedusa, sono
l’espressione del folklore iberico, arabo
e locale; persino il paesaggio, conteso tra
steppe, praterie e garighe, sembra voler
sottolineare la personalità sfaccettata
dell’isola. Così come Pantelleria, cugina
lontana ma non troppo, Lampedusa è
nel tempo crocevia di eroi, fiabe, popoli
e culture.

alfway between the coasts of
Sicily and Africa, in the navel of
the Mediterranean, the rocky
coves of the island of Pantelleria have
always been a setting for myths and stories. Beginning with Homer, whom in his
Odyssey made it the cosy abode of the
goddess Calypso. Odysseus was shipwrecked here, surviving sea storms from
Scylla and Charybdis, and then finding
refuge in the Cave of Sataria, warmed by
the love of the goddess and the natural
pools of thermal water. It is still possible
to enter inside this, next to a creek in the
south-west of the island, to enjoy the
warmth of its springs.
Pantelleria is the backdrop of another

mythical and divine love, the one between Venus and Bacchus. Legend has
it that Venus, intoxicated with love for
the God, used to accompany him in his
travels through Mediterranean Islands.
Before each meeting, the goddess of
beauty would mirror in to an Island lake
and would sigh, sadly, for the passion that
Bacchus had for wine and denied to her.
At night you can still hear those sighs, carried by the wind toward the shores of the
lake which takes its name from the myth:
the Mirror of Venus, a blue jewel nestled
between the emerald green hills of the
island. Powered by the Mediterranean
Sea and from warm underground springs,
its waters are colored in white and blue,
there where the sea pours in the ancient
caldera. The seabed is rich in sulphur
minerals which, as well as giving the water character shades, have reinvigorating
properties: a dip in the Mirror is a natural
and complete mud treatment. But, if the
goddess of beauty was able to choose a
lake worthy of her, the god of the grape
harvest could not be of less. The island
of wind is famous for its DOC wines, such
as the Passito of Pantelleria, sweet and
ambered , made from the zibibbo grape
which is left to dry naturally in the sun, or
the Malvasia, which takes its name from
the grape from which it is made. But the
navel of the sea is not only a land of fantasy. Over the centuries Phoenicians, Byz-

funerary monuments of elliptical shape,
and the Barbican castle, built by Byzantine hands but extended by all people
who managed to conquer it, and more the
architecture of the Arab dammusi.
If Pantelleria is doubly tied to myths and
stories, Lampedusa is no exception. For
Plato and Diodorus the island and its archipelago were part of the lost continent
of Atlantis, inhabited by elephants and
trampled by giants. Maybe today both
are no longer part of the colourful local
wildlife, but Sicilian Lampedusa remains a
land of Africa where traditions and different cultures live side by side, such as the
African one, which we find in the couscous
of Cernia, a typical dish that sums up the
gastronomic meeting between the island
and the African continent; the ancient costumes, yellow and blue like the banner of
Lampedusa, are the expression of Iberian,
Arab and local folklore; even the landscape, filled by steppes, scrublands and
prairies, seems to want to emphasize the
multifaceted personality of the island. Just
as Pantelleria, a not too distant cousin,
Lampedusa is a time line of heroes, fairy
tales, peoples and cultures.

Di fronte alla bianchissima spiaggia dei
Conigli, considerata tra le più belle al
mondo, si trova l’isola dei Conigli. Così
vicina che con la bassa marea è possibile
raggiungerla con una passeggiata, ogni
cinquant’anni l’isola rocciosa riabbraccia
la terraferma, quando una breve striscia di
terra riemerge dall’acqua a ricongiungere
le due coste. L’isola si porta dietro lo stesso nome affidatole dai navigatori inglesi
nell’ottocento, ma al momento non sono
i conigli gli abitanti che destano più interesse. L’isola è infatti l’habitat di riproduzione della tartaruga Caretta caretta, che
ha scelto la piccola spiaggia dell’isolotto
per deporre e far schiudere le sue uova.

walking, every fifty years the rocky island
embraces the mainland, when a small
strip of land emerges from the water to
join the two coasts. The island still has
the same name given to it by British sailors in the nineteenth century, but at the
moment it is not the rabbits that are of
most interest. The island is in fact the
breeding habitat of the turtle Caretta,
who chooses the small beach of the isle
to lay and hatch her eggs.

Nyong’o.
Astro nascente del cinema hollywoodiano, Lupita riceve il suo primo Oscar come attrice non protagonista la notte del 2 marzo 2014. La sua interpretazione
di Patsey in 12 Anni schiavo di Steve McQueen – serva preferita di Edwin Epps, proprietario della piantagione di cotone dove presta servizio –, le ha aperto
le porte del cinema inaspettatamente. Poca gavetta e tanto talento: prima di calcare il tappeto rosso
ha ricoperto qualche piccola parte in documentari
e serie Tv. Una volta approdata alla Yale School of
Drama, ha subito capito quale strada intraprendere:
quella cinematografica.
Il segreto del suo successo? Bellezza, bravura e il colore della pelle. Anche se nata da una famiglia agiata
– il padre è un senatore keniota –, in un momento
storico lontano da soprusi e razzismi, la trentenne Lupita ha sempre avvertito il peso della tragica
storia nera. «Accendevo la Tv e vedevo solo persone dalla carnagione chiara – ha raccontato l’attrice
sulle pagine di Vanity Fair –, a scuola ero derisa per
via della mia pelle del colore della notte. L’unica preghiera che rivolgevo a Dio era di risvegliarmi, il giorno dopo, più chiara. Ogni volta era una delusione:
mi scoprivo scura come sempre». Finchè un giorno
la ragazza ha smesso di vergognarsi della sua pelle
di ebano.
Presa coscienza delle sue capacità e forte della storia
del suo popolo, l’attrice decide di dare il suo contributo alla causa del razzismo prima attraverso il
documentario In My Genes – in cui mostra le discriminazioni subite dagli albini in Kenya –, vincitore al
Five College Student Film Festival, e poi attraverso
l’interpretazione di Patsey: un schiava che lotta contro i suo aguzzini (il proprietario della piantagione di
cotone e sua moglie) con tenacia e dignità.

Dencia, cantante camerunense che promuove il commercio
del prodotto associando il colore bianco alla “purezza”. Forte la risposta della Nyong’o che grida a gran voce su tutte le
testate: «Siate orgogliose di essere nere!».

Lupita Nyong'o (al secolo Guadalupe Amondi
Nyong'o, 1º marzo 1983) è un'attrice e regista
messicana naturalizzata keniota. è nata in Messico
poiché il padre, un senatore, per lavoro si era
momentaneamente trasferito, ma subito dopo
torna nel paese di origine dei genitori, il Kenya. Si
è laureata negli Stati Uniti (Università di Hampshire,
Massachussetts) in Studi cinematografici e
teatrali. A ventisei anni ha realizzato il suo primo
documentario, In My Genes, di cui è regista,
produttrice e ideatrice. In precedenza ha lavorato
come assistente alla produzione e attrice.

College, Massachussets). She hit
the spotlight at the young age of 26
thanks to her first documentary, In My
Genes, which she directed, produced
and wrote. Before that, she worked as

upita Nyong'o: a difficult name to
pronounce but spread all over the
pages of the most glamorous magazines and engraved in the history of the
Oscars 2014.
The new born star of Hollywood cinema,
Lupita receives her first Oscar as supporting actress on the night of March 2nd,
2014. Her interpretation of Patsey in 12
Years of Slave by Steve McQueen – favourite servant of Edwin Epps, owner of
the cotton plantation where the girl works
– has unexpectedly opened the doors of
the cinema for her. Little work and much
talent: before walking the red carpet she
held some small parts in documentaries
and TV series. As soon as she has arrived
at the Yale School of Drama, she quickly
realized which path to take: Cinema.
The secret to her success? Beauty, talent,
and the colour of her skin. Although born
to a wealthy family – her father a Kenyan
senator – during a time distant from historic oppressions and racism, the thirty
year old Lupita has always felt the weight
of the tragic black history. «I switched on
the TV and saw only light-skinned people
– said the actress on the pages of Vanity

anni del Premio omonimo. Lui, uno

sempre più spesso, lanciarsi in mirabolanti acrobazie, senza l’aiuto di

li unisce è l’amore per la musica e la curiosità di sperimentare insieme i molteplici orizzonti sonori che si aprono

La prima curiosità viene dal nome:
perché vi chiamate Quint’etto?
Ci è piaciuto immaginare gli ascoltatori
al mercato, alla ricerca di "ingredienti"
per nutrire la loro immaginazione. Noi
ci proponiamo come gli “etti” della loro
spesa e ci consideriamo noi stessi come
tali, cioè ascoltatori appassionati di
cose genuine, curiosi di provare nuove
ricette.
Qual è la forza - l’essenza, il concetto, il comune denominatore - che
tiene unite le vostre cinque persona-

lità in un progetto di ricerca formale comune?
Ognuno di noi cinque ha un passato da
raccontare, di musica rock, jazz, folk,
pop e perfino sacra, ma siamo uniti
dall'amicizia e dalla musica classica,
ciò permette ad ognuno di noi di sperimentare i generi portati dall’altro. La
gioia che abbiamo nel suonare e, ancor
più, nel creare nuovi brani è il segno di
un piccolo prodigio spirituale del quale l'ascoltatore è partecipe: crediamo
nell’uso di una lingua comune a tutti e "sentiamo"
il nostro pubblico suonare con noi, tanto che il programma, che viene deciso sul palco durante il concerto, non è qualcosa che ha a che fare solo con noi. Gli
ascoltatori rappresentano il mezzo kilo mancante: il
pubblico ci completa.

up over the landscape of their classical

The first curiosity comes from the
name, why is your name Quint'etto?
We liked to imagine the listeners on
the market, looking for "ingredients" to
feed their imagination. We are like the
"pounds" (etti) of their shopping and we
consider ourselves as such, that is passionate listeners of genuine things, keen
to try out new recipes.
What is the force – the essence, the
concept, the common denominator
– that binds your five personalities
in a formal research of a common
project?
Each one of us has a story to tell, of rock
music, jazz, folk, pop, and even sacred
music, but we are united by friendship
and classical music, this allows each of
us to experiment with the other genres
brought in by the other. The joy we find
in playing music, and more importantly,
in creating new music are the signs of a
small spiritual prodigy to which the listener is a part: we believe in the use of
a common language and we "feel" our
audience performing with us so much
that the program, which is decided on
stage during the concert, it’s not just
about us. Listeners represent the half a
kilo missing: the audience completes us.
What do you imagine for the music of
tomorrow?
The music of tomorrow is... today! Crossing the border between genres is being
done today, because humanity has always
needed the same things: beauty, joy,
peace, hope, and even memories, being
able to go home after a concert, singing
a little piece of what has been heard. The
music of tomorrow will be as beautiful as
always.

Occuparsi del proprio balcone o praticare attività social quali il rinverdimento dell’area condominiale o di zone urbane
ingrigite dal cemento sono diventate pratiche sempre più
diffuse anche in Italia. Alcuni programmi televisivi hanno
contribuito allo sviluppo di questo trend, pensiamo all’Erba
del vicino (Rai2), in cui un gruppo di giardinieri risponde di
punta in punta alla chiamata di un condominio bisognoso di
cure per il proprio giardino; perla di questo format tv è che
tutti i condomini sono coinvolti nel lavoro di giardinaggio.

le isole dei venti: Lipari, Panarea, Salina, Filicudi, Alicudi,

selvagge, dove le scogliere si alternano a calette dall'acqua

iente era più perfetto del cerchio agli occhi dei
Greci e nonostante la loro idea che il tempo fosse
stratificato e non sequenziale, ciclicità e circolarità
hanno sempre costituito un enigma della natura per quelle
menti così razionali. Il termine "ciclico" è anche all'origine del
nome dell'arcipelago più famoso dell'Egeo: Cicladi, appunto.
Le isole infatti sono disposte come un cerchio intorno a Delo,
un posto sacro. È lì che il mito fa approdare Leto perseguitata
dalla gelosia di Era, lì che dà alla luce Apollo e Artemide, i gemelli divini. Il dio della musica e della bellezza, in particolare,
è, con il nome Febo, anche dio del sole, il disco luminoso della
vita, e non è affatto un caso che l'altro luogo sacro panellenico, Delfi, fosse ancora dedicato a lui. Qui si trovava l'omphalos, l'ombelico del mondo: i due estremi, Delo e Delfi, così
si congiungono sotto il segno di Apollo. È con gli occhi della
mente e dei sensi allora che bisogna viaggiare per le Cicladi,
perché altrimenti non si capirebbe come isole così rocciose e
brulle, buone solo per le capre, siano state la culla del mondo
occidentale così come lo conosciamo. A parte Delo, su cui si
tornerà, il percorso segue allora il tragitto del sole, da oriente
a occidente, per terminare sugli splendidi tramonti di Thera, Santorini. Da Amorgos, imperdibile per gli appassionati

Di Mykonos si può solo dire che la sua
fama di leggerezza e spensieratezza è
pienamente giustificata: non perdetevi
però le atmosfere cubiste di Hora, la
cittadina principale. Prima di piegare
verso occidente bisogna risalire il mel-
temi e raggiungere Tínos e Ándros: al
fervore religioso della prima si può accostare il dolce far niente delle spiagge
della seconda. Il tuffo a sud è costellato di perle di rara meraviglia: Ioulida,
Khytnos, Serifos e Sifnos, giù, fino alla
bellezza eterea e struggente di Folégandros, uno dei luoghi più emozionanti e
languidi dell'Egeo. Théra finalmente,
la fine del cerchio. L'isola è rude, aspra
e spigolosa come la sua storia, fatta di
esplosioni vulcaniche e maremoti, eppure conserva ancora quella dolcezza
impalpabile che si ritrova negli affreschi
di Akrotiri, la città sepolta. È a Santorini, allora, mentre ci si perde nei meandri
liquidi di un cocktail di fronte a uno dei
tramonti più emozionanti della Terra
che bisognerebbe pensare al suo antico
nome, quello che aveva prima dell'eruzione che l'ha trasformata: si chiamava
Strongili a quel tempo, "la rotonda".

UNA CUCINA,
TANTE
CUCINE
Rispetto alla Grecia continentale, dove elementi
non-greci – slavi e turchi in
particolare – hanno lasciato dietro di sé una cultura gastronomica di meticciamento, le Cicladi presentano ancora un panorama
squisitamente locale. Gli isolani sono orgogliosi dei loro piatti
tradizionali che chiamano la "cucina della yayia", della nonna.
Ogni isola ha i suoi e al contrario del continente, dove predomina la carne, qui il pesce e le verdure sono la base: su tutto,
immancabile, l'olio d'oliva, spesso espressione di piccole produzioni locali. Il polpo grigliato è l'insostituibile piatto forte dei
mezedes, gli stuzzichini, a cui si aggiungono le sardine, i gávroi
(acciughe marinate), il lakerdá (pesce affumicato) e l'hainosálata
(insalata di uova di ricci). A parte le mayireftá di verdure stufate,
straordinari sono i formaggi, dall'anthotyró cretese al krasotyri
di Sifnos stagionato nel vino, dal chloro di Santorini al kopanisti
di Mykonos. E a proposito di vino, lasciate stare la retsina: nelle
Cicladi si bevono l'Assyrtiko, l'Athiri o l'Aidani.

The islanders are proud of their traditional dishes they call the

eyes of the Greeks and despite their idea that
time was stratified and non-sequential, cyclical
and circularity had always been an enigma of nature to
those rational minds. The term "cyclic" is also at the

symbol of artistic avant-garde and Mexican cultural of the last century. The exhibition brings together masterpieces
inspired from biographical events and

masterpieces also represent the political and artistic currents that alternated
over the decades in which the artist

a domanda a cui è più difficile rispondere a proposito dei Mondiali di quest'anno non è chi li vincerà ma
se loro ce la faranno a battere l'avversario più temibile, quello che prima di entrare in campo ti taglia le gambe, quello per cui non bastano i miracoli del portiere o le
veroniche dell'attaccante. Lui si chiama "O Maracanaço",
"il disastro del Maracanã" e loro sono i campioni della Seleçao, la nazionale verdeoro. Il fatto è che non è la prima
volta che i Campionati del Mondo di Calcio si disputano
in Brasile: è già successo nel 1950 ed è stato l'evento più
traumatico della storia di questo paese. 16 luglio, il Brasile
è in finale. Di fronte c'è l'Uruguay, giunto fortunosamente
alla fase finale (nel ’50 la coppa veniva assegnata alla prima
classificata di un girone a quattro). Il Brasile aveva spazzato
via la Svezia per 7 a 1 e la Spagna per 6 a 1. L'Uruguay con un
pareggio e una vittoria di misura sembrava incarnare perfettamente il ruolo di vittima sacrificale da immolare sotto
una valanga di gol. Al Brasile sarebbe bastato un pareggio
ma non bastava né per i 200.000 del Maracanã, né per milioni di brasiliani, né per gli 11 del tecnico Costa. Vennero
stampate 500.000 magliette con la scritta "Brasil campeão",
incise canzoni celebrative, i giornali uscirono con titoli altisonanti: "A Copa será nossa", "Estes são os campeões do
mundo". Alle 15 le squadre scesero in campo. Il Brasile aveva fuoriclasse del calibro di Friaça, Zizinho, Ademir, Jair,

fischio finale dell'arbitro Reader si consuma il dramma. La
coppa viene consegnata in fretta a Varela, il capitano dell'Uruguay, e i giocatori accompagnati di corsa negli spogliatoi;
sugli spalti ci furono dieci decessi per infarto e due suicidi, 56 e 34 in tutto il paese; la banda non suonò l'inno dei
vincitori perché non l'aveva imparato. Ricorda Jules Rimet
nelle sue memorie: «Era stato tutto previsto, tranne la vittoria
dell'Uruguay». Il giorno dopo il Brasile si svegliò diverso. Le
maglie della nazionale che fino ad allora erano state bianche vennero sostituite con le attuali e i giornali titolarono
a caratteri cubitali: "Nunca mais", "Mai più". Riusciranno

Ma ci sarebbe anche qualcuno che sostiene di aver
avvistato una luna blu. Il satellite della terra, secondo
l’Agenzia Spaziale Europea, può colorarsi a causa di
particolari polveri che si riversano nell’atmosfera terrestre. La luna ha assunto questo insolito colore nel
1883 per le ceneri sollevate dal vulcano Krakatoa in
Indonesia, nel 1927 a causa di intensi monsoni e nel
1951 in seguito a un grande incendio nelle foreste canadesi che ha innalzato nubi di fuliggine.
I
l fascino di questo disco luminoso nel cielo, si sa, ha ispirato
poeti e artisti di ogni tempo. Leopardi tra tutti ha interrogato a
lungo la luna per comprenderne le fasi e la silenziosa, luminosa
presenza in cielo. E così, secolo dopo secolo, con la complicità di
artisti, innamorati e sognatori, la luna si è ritagliata il ruolo di ancella
del buio. Cangiante e mutevole sempre.

Ma esiste anche una luna blu? L’espressione inglese “blue moon”, da
cui proviene la traduzione italiana, non indica il colore di cui si tinge
il satellite della terra. Non si vedrà quasi mai un plenilunio bluastro
o azzurrino. Con “blue moon” si indica un evento che avviene più o
meno ogni 3 anni: cioè una seconda luna piena nel corso dello stesso
mese. Ogni mese dell’anno è previsto un plenilunio, ma poiché il
ciclo lunare è di 29 giorni e il calendario mensile ha 30 o 31 giorni,
ogni tanto il magico cerchio bianco e brillante appare per due volte
nello stesso mese.
Sin dall’antichità questo evento ha assunto un significato quasi
magico, e in tanti hanno voluto attribuirgli effetti benefici e propiziatori. Il “blue moon” è un fenomeno privo di importanza per
l’astronomia, ma da tempo immemore affascina grandi e bambini, e
nel linguaggio popolare anglosassone ha finito per indicare qualcosa
che avviene molto raramente.

Chissà se Richard Rodgers e Lorenz Hart nel 1934 quando scrissero
le parole della canzone Blue Moon pensarono a una luna azzurra
davvero? Qualunque sia la verità, quel che è certo è che la canzone è rimasta un classico per il repertorio di molte formazioni jazz.
Negli anni ’50 Blue Moon venne inserita come cover nell’album
di esordio di Elvis Presley diventando un successo memorabile.
Oggi Blue Moon è la canzone dei tifosi del Manchester City e,
nonostante il testo sia malinconico, viene cantata come fosse un
inno eroico.

he charm of that luminous disk in the sky, it is known, has
inspired poets and artists of all times. Leopardi among
all has questioned at length to understand the moon’s
phases and its silent, luminous presence in the sky. And so, century after century, with the help of artists, lovers and dreamers,
the moon has carved out a role as a maiden of the dark. Always
changing and changeable.

But does a blue moon actually exist? The English expression
"blue moon" does not indicate the color in which the satellite
of earth is tinged. You will almost never see a full moon in blue
or bluish. "Blue moon" refers to an event that happens more
or less every 3 years: a second full moon in the same month.
Every month there is a full moon, but since the lunar cycle is 29
days and the monthly calendar has 30 or 31 days, sometimes
the magic and bright white full circle appears twice in the same
month.
Since ancient times this happening has taken on an almost
magical significance, and many have wanted to confer beneficial and propitiatory effects. The "blue moon" is a phenomenon void of importance for astronomy, but since time it has fascinates adults and children, and in the Anglo-Saxon language it
has came to signify something that happens very rarely.
But there are also some who claim to have spotted a blue
moon. According to the European Space Agency, the satellite
of the earth may change colour due to special powders that are
poured into Earth's atmosphere. The moon had this unusual
color in 1883 through raised ashes from the volcano Krakatoa
in Indonesia, in 1927 due to intense monsoons and in 1951 following a major fire in the Canadian forests which raised clouds
of soot.

Who knows if Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart when writing the words to the song
Blue Moon, in 1934, really thought of a blue moon? Whatever the truth, what is certain is that the song has remained a classic in the repertoire of many jazz bands. In
the '50s Blue Moon was included as a cover in Elvis Presley's debut album becoming
a memorable success. Today Blue Moon is the song of the supporters of Manchester
City, and although the text is melancholy, it is sung as it were a heroic anthem.

Resurrection è stato registrato a Los Angeles e contiene dieci
nuove canzoni nella versione standard e quattordici in quella
deluxe. Nel frattempo l’interprete di Paid My Dues è tornata a
collaborare con i produttori Sam Watterse e Louis Biancaniello.
Resurrection è il primo album di brani inediti dell’artista da Heavy
Rotation del 2008 ed è il suo sesto in generale. Anastacia, apprezzata a livello mondiale per la sua incredibile voce, ha venduto nella sua carriera oltre 30 milioni di dischi.
Resteranno delusi i fan dei fratelli Gallagher che aspettavano
una réunion della band, con tanto di nuovi pezzi e tour. Si dovranno accontentare di un remastering di Definitely Maybe, l’album che segnò il debutto della band vent’anni fa, nell’ormai
lontano 1994. Il cofanetto celebrativo, disponibile in triplo cd (il

Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’unione Europea ha adottato nuove regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi che possono essere
introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole si applicano nei confronti
tutti i passeggeri in partenza dagli aeroporti dell’unione Europea verso qualsiasi destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il relativo
bagaglio a mano devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi.
Comunque, le nuove regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere
acquistati presso gli esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di viaggio od a bordo di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’unione
Europea.

introduced new security rules to limit the amount of liquids that you can take through
security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all
destinations.
This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However, the
new rules do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond the
checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the EU
and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

Sometimes you “biological clock” may not welcome the time changes involved
in air travel and it finds ways of letting you know about this. Some of the most
common symptoms are a sense of weariness, difficulty in falling asleep at night
and appetite loss. To minimize jet lag effects, make sure you get a good night
sleep before leaving and, if you plan to stay abroad less than two days, keep you
biological clock set on your home time (i.e. keep your regular eating and sleeping
habits). In the event of a longer trip, it is advisable to get used to local time as
soon as possible and to conduct a regular and healthy life. Remember that getting over jet lag is generally quicker when travelling westwards than eastwards.

To help you feel better when you fly with us, just follow these
tips and suggestions designed to enhance your well being on
board
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a
disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e braccia ogni due ore
circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per
prevenire problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch your arms and legs
or carry out some easy exercises* suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione e limitare
bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy drinks, tea and
coffee.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole quantità e
spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché queste sono
assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta quota a causa della
bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali per evitare irritazioni
oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses
rather than contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before sleeping.

Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your seat in an upright position.

Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. ripetete per cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes pointing
upward, then point your toes downward Perform this exercise
five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando nuovamente il piede
sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso con l’altra gamba. ripetete cinque
volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few seconds and
then release, placing your feet back on the floor. Continue with
the other leg. Repeat five times for each leg.
