A
s December 2013 rolls
around it becomes
necessary to report on
SECOIN’s activity during the
past year.
Luckily it has been a quiet year
for SECOIN and there are no
crises to report. Brise-Galets
gave us a good scare but is
reported to be doing great. He
continues to maintain the BOC
list in spite of some issues with
his left hand. To further hinder
his work, changes imposed by
Yahoo now prevent him from
entering and checking the list.
Bernard writes; “In the present
state of affairs with Yahoo I can
no longer maintain the BOC list
(I cannot ADD members and I
cannot download the full list of
members to compare with my
master list).” I am happy to say
that we have found an alternative
which we will be testing shortly.
The Team continues to dedicate
themselves to the production of
TTP and the translation of
documents associated with the
World Zaf.
Jacques Rial,
working with The Grand Frѐre of
France Bernard Couvercelle, has
started to undertake the gathering
of documents needed for use by
the Assembly of National
Captains during the World Zaf.
This time of the year is also my
opportunity to thank the Team,
Rene Olhaberry,
Maurizio
Piantoni, my Lieutenant Bernard
Lefèvre and of course Jacques
Rial for their dedication to TTP,
the BOC list and our fraternity. I
am truly grateful for your hard
work and your commitment to
our beloved Brotherhood.
Wishing you all fair winds, calm
seas and, as our South American
Brothers so gallantly say, “A big
hug full of sea”.

préparer et à réunir les

serviront à l’Assemblée des
Capitaines nationaux.

écembre est là, c’est
donc le moment pour
SECOIN de présenter un
rapport de ses activités durant
l’année.
Heureusement, l’année a été
calme pour SECOIN, et il n’y a
eu aucune crise. Brise-Galets
nous a fait une grosse émotion,
mais, aux dernières nouvelles, il
récupère bien. Il continue à s’occuper de la BOClist en dépit de
quelques problèmes encore du
côté de sa main gauche. Ce qui
complique sa vie, ce sont les
changements imposés par Yahoo:
il est devenu impossible de modifier la liste à sa guise. Bernard
Ce moment de l’année me donne
donc l’occasion de remercier
mon équipe: René Olhaberry,
Maurizio Piantoni, mon
Lieutenant Bernard Lefèvre et
bien sûr Jacques Rial, de leur
dévouement à TTP, à la BOClist
et à notre Confrérie. Je leur suis
sincèrement reconnaissant du
boulot qu’ils font et de leur
engagement en faveur de notre
Confrérie bien-aimée.
Je vous souhaite à tous bon vent
et mer calme. Et comme le disent
si joliment nos Frères sudaméricains: "Con un gran abrazo
pleno de mar" (Avec un grand
abrazo plein de mer!).

uando ya Diciembre del
2013 comienza a rondar,
se hace necesar io
informar sobre las actividades
de SECOIN durante el año que
ya se va. Por suerte, ha sido un
gran año para SECOIN y no ha
habido crisis. Brise-Galets nos
dio un buen susto, pero se nos ha
informado de que está muy bien.
Sigue manteniendo el BOC list a
pesar de algunos problemas con
su mano izquierda. Para dificultar
aún más su trabajo, los cambios
impuestos por Yahoo ahora le
impiden entrar y chequear la
lista. Bernad escribe: “En el
actual estado de cosas con Yahoo
ya no puedo mantener el BOC
list (no puedo añadir miembros y
no puedo descargar la lista
completa de los miembros para
compararla con mi lista
maestra).” Estoy feliz de decir
que hemos encontrado una
alternativa que probaremos en
breve.
El equipo continúa dedicándose a
la producción del TTP y a la
traducción de documentos
relacionados con el Zaf. Mundial.
Jacques Rial, que trabaja con el
Gran Frère de Francia Bernard
Couvercelle, ha comenzado a
hacer la recopilación de los
documentos necesarios para el
uso de la Asamblea de Capitanes
Nacionales durante el Zaf.
Mundial.
Esta época del año, es también
muy oportuna para agradecer al
eq uip o , R e né Ol hab er r y,
Maurizio Piantoni, mi
Lugarteniente Bernard Lefèvre y
por supuesto a Jacques Rial, por
su dedicación al TTP, a la BOC
list y a nuestra fraternidad. Estoy
realmente agradecido por su duro
trabajo y su compromiso con
nuestra querida Hermandad.
Deseándoles a todos buenos
vientos, mares calmos y como
nuestros Hermanos de América
del Sur tan galantemente dicen:

icembre 2013 è qui e
pertanto è il periodo in
cui diventa necessario
riferire sull’attività di SECOIN
durante l' anno trascorso.
Per fortuna è stato un anno
tranquillo per SECOIN e non ci
sono crisi da segnalare. Brise –
Galets ci ha fatto prendere un
bello spavento, ma riferisce che
sta andando alla grande. Egli
continua a mantenere la BOC list
a dispetto di alcuni problemi con
la mano sinistra. Per ostacolare
ulteriormente la sua opera, le
modifiche imposte da Yahoo ora
gli impediscono di entrare e
controllare l’elenco .Scrive
Bernard : " Nel presente stato di
cose con Yahoo non posso più
mantenere la lista BOC (Non
posso aggiungere membri e non è
possibile scaricare l'elenco
completo dei membri da
confrontare con il mio elenco
principale)". Sono felice di dire
che abbiamo trovato
un'alternativa che testeremo a
breve.
Il Team continua a dedicarsi alla
produzione del TTP e alla
traduzione dei documenti
correlati allo Zaf Mondiale.

documenti necessari per l’uso da

loro dedizione al TTP all'elenco
BOC e alla nostra fraternità. Io
sono veramente grato per il
vostro duro lavoro e il vostro
impegno per la nostra amata

Tengo el honor de informar como

CONOSUR, lo resuelto en esta
reunión de amena camaradería,
respeto y fraterna hermandad,
donde se trataron todos los temas
del orden del día, de los cuales se
eligieron los que se incluirán en la
Reunión de Capitanes en el
Zafarrancho Mundial de Francia
2014. Los Capitanes quedaron
satisfechos por los logros resueltos,
que servirán para una mejor
organización de nuestras Cofradías
y también agradecidos por el trato
que nos brindó la Armada
Argentina.

Punto 1 El Capitán JAMBO
señaló que se deben mencionar las
actividades principales,
crecimiento, número de Mesas y
número de Hermanos. También la
constitución de la nueva Nao
Antonio Lusich, en Ocean Park,
Maldonado (ROU) integrada por
7 Hnos además en Uruguay se
está creando una página WEB y
que cada Nao tendrá su link. El
Capitán CACHAFAZ por su parte
hizo referencia al proceso de
actualización del rol y de las Naos
en Argentina iniciado con su
Capitanía, haciendo una reseña de
la situación de la Hermandad de la
Costa Argentina.
El Capitán
Blood destacó la creación de una
nueva Nao en la comuna de
Chicureo, próximo a Santiago e
integrada por14 hnos. Luego de un
referencia a la personería jurídica
de la Hermandad de la Costa
Argentina, la que comienza a
reactivarse su actualización, que
había quedado inactiva por falta
de recursos. El Capitán JAMBO
anunció que se obtuvo la
personería jurídica y se registraron
la marca y el nombre de la
Hermandad. punto 3 Se trata del
Secretario de Coordinación
Internacional, siendo el actual el
Hermano Tony “RASCAL” Olmer
, proponiendo el Capitán
CACHAFAZ que
se designe
como titular de la Secretaría al
Hermano René Olhaberry en el
caso que dicho nombramiento
recae en América del Sur, moción
a la que los demás adhirieron en
forma unánime.
Punto 4 Aprobándose por
unanimidad que se proponga que
lo organice la Hermandad de la
Costa de Uruguay.

The New Zealand Table of the
Brotherhood of the Coast met in
August for our annual Mid-Winter
Feast. While not as raucous as our
annual Zafarrancho, this gathering
ensures that all our Brothers and
Captives maintain close bonds
throughout the year. Toasts were
offered for our brothers overseas,
now flying our flag in Spain, Italy,
Fiji, Australia, and points in
between.

OBITUARY
It is with great sadness that I report to the world of The Brotherhood of the Coast that our dear
Brother Gonfleur (John Eberhardt)
has departed this life. He passed
away on 28 October 2013 after a
long illness.
Gonfleur bore our flag number 6,
being one of the earliest members
of the Solent Table, here in UK.
He was one of the most revered
to sail he took part in numerous
races in the Solent, English Channel, Mediterranean, Atlantic and
Caribbean seas. He was instrumental in the foundation of the
Tables of Savannah, Bergen and
tables here in the UK.
Gonfleur was supported by his
family and caring Captive Joan
who helped him through the difficulties particularly these last couple of years.
John and his dearly departed Captive, Brenda, gave safe harbour to
any visiting Brother from foreign
shores welcoming them into their
home and giving help and wisdom. John and Brenda travelled extensively throughout the
world carrying the spirit of the
Freres de la Cote to harbours far
and wide, coming back with tales
of adventures and new bonds formed.
Gonfleur is only just out of sight
and beyond the horizon, where the
curvature of the earth meets the
sky. He will be sailing there with a
small crew of his brothers including Flogg, la Barbe, Fordissimo,
Griffon, El Torro and others as he
so often did, rustling up his famous goolash and carrying the
true spirit of the Brotherhood into
eternity. They sail where others
have gone before, sailing to meet
their international Brothers from
other shores throughout the world.
So many memories for our Brothers of happy days, so much sadness in our loss: the loss to the
brotherhood. Gonfleur can never
be replaced.
Sail on, Gonfleur, with the fair
winds and calm seas you deserve,
for that lifetime of fraternal love
you gave to your brothers and the
sea.

every last ounce of his energy and
enthusiasm and dedication to the
Freres de la Cote’.
Gonfleur was the driving force of
the British Brotherhood. He held
the position of Vigie for many
years and served as Grand Frere in
the 80’s. For most of his life his
relationship with the sea included
scuba-diving and offshore racing
in the 60s. Thereafter converting

I partecipanti hanno goduto di un
meraviglioso panorama sulla città
di Lugano , seguendo in diretta le
tappe della "Coppa Roda" regata classica che si svolge
annualmente sul lago di Lugano.
La sera di sabato 31 agosto, si é
tenuta la cena di Gala al
ristorante dell'Hotel Victoria di
Paradiso, direttamente affacciato
sul lago di Lugano.
La cena é stata preceduta
dall'Assemblea Generale nella
quale é stato eletto CESARE
LUCINI nuovo Capitano
Nazionale Svizzero al posto del
Capitano uscente Yves Balmas e
FABIANO MARTINELLI quale
nuovo scrivano nazionale.
La serata di venerdì 30 agosto ha
visto i partecipanti dilettarsi in una
suggestiva festa pirata sulle rive
del lago di Lugano, in un'
atmosfera piacevolmente
romantica e goliardica come la
pirateria.
Il giorno successivo, dopo una
visita guidata della città di
Lugano, ci siamo imbarcati su di
un battello privato che ci ha
portato a mangiare in un
caratteristico Grotto sulle rive
del lago a Caprino.

Signals from
POLAND
During first half of 2013, by local
consultations, we all confirmed
granting our Glory of the Seas
Trophy to Jędrzej Porada (#102),
yacht/merchant navy captain,
doctor of technical sciences. In
Szczecin where he works at the
Maritime Academy, there was a
final of the Tall Ship Races. So
early August public spot for
decoration became obvious…
Polish President with Kowalski
On the 2-nd of May (Day of the
Flag), President of Poland
honoured several yachtsmen who
in the past made significant
voyages presenting Polish ensign
all over the world. One of them
was Capt. Bolesław Kowalski
(#1). Lead by him 1965/66
expedition around the South
America (which fruited in
foundation of Polish
Brotherhood), was a topic of the
adjacent exhibition. Other Polish
Brothers were honoured as well.
“Magnus Zaremba”
In Wilkasy (Mazurian District of
Poland) on 13-15 September there
was the 3-rd International Lake
Zafarrancho. Over seventy
participants (including Brothers
fr o m E n gl a nd , I ta l y a nd
Switzerland) enjoyed meals,
sailing, bonfire evenings and
excursion to “Delphia” in Olecko.
Brother Wojciech Kot (#91) owner-director of that modern
yacht yard played the host,
That Zaf was simultaneously a
Polish national one. Membership
issues were voted, candidates
accepted and rejected, brothers
sworn-in… Jerzy Kołakowski and
Mieczysław Ircha, were granted
roll numbers 133 and 134. Those
on Eternal Seas or marooned,
reduce our current roll to ca.
ninety. Important note: Our
regulations state, that the sworn-in
ceremony is a secret one and “for
Brothers eyes only”. We have to
remind that and strongly request
that none of photographs taken
can be published anywhere.
Year 2013 was significant for the
future. Our former National
Captain, Eugeniusz Moczydłowski
(#73), scientist experienced in
polar expeditions, at long last and
much expense, launched a new
yacht designed to his own
specification. She is flat-bottom,
with hydraulic lifted keel and
ready to withstand freezing-in
during a winter in the Antarctica.
Until now scientist did such work
there only during Antarctic
summers! She is named
MAGNUS ZAREMBA. (MMSI:
261025570 Call Sign: SPG3930)
It’s the name of English King
Harold the Second’s son and there
are genealogical connection to the
Captain! She is already
undergoing sea trials. Details of
her construction and whereabouts

Sabres au clair, ils prennent en
otage le Grand Frère de France
AJUT et lui font subir les pires
supplices, il est couvert de sang.
Ils nous injurient et nous obligent
à chanter avec eux de terribles
chants.
Ce samedi 16 Septembre de l'an de
grâce 2013, l'embarcadère de Vannes fleurit de tricornes, l'ambiance
des retrouvailles avec nos frères
venus célébrer cet anniversaire est
visible ... et audible.
Nos Frères Belges, Fondateurs de
la Flotte de France, étant présents
en forte délégation.
À l'heure dite, accueillis
par
CUMBERLAND et IZENAH,
nous embarquons à bord d' Angélus 3, navire capturé pour l'occasion.
Le commandant va nous faire découvrir des passages peu connus
entre les îles du Golfe du Morbihan.
Ils nous détournent en eaux peu
profondes, pour échapper à
d'éventuels poursuivants. Tout
semble perdu.
Il défie le chef des pirates, lui fait
entendre raison, mettre genou en
terre et faire allégeance à la
confrérie… Exploit salué par des
chants.
L'agneau de Belle Ile est invité à
table, la ravissante esclave capturée nous charme de sa voix envoûtante entourée de tous et du
MANCHOT ARCTIQUE, l'assemblée reprend de bon coeur,
d'une voix forte sinon juste…
BRIN D’ARCHET,
virtuose,
chante et joue l'hymne de la Table
de Bretagne qu'il a mis en musique
et GUIGUITTE, captive de notre
regretté Frère MAGMUM, enchante la salle de ses savoureuses
anecdotes trégorroises.
Malheureusement, alors que nous
sommes presque en eau libre, une
sinistre voile apparait à l'horizon :

les échanges de cadeaux entre
flottes de France et de Belgique
qui tentent d'empoisonner notre
grand frère en lui offrant une liqueur odorante mais certainement
mortelle en deçà du Quiévrain
BINOCLE a préparé un document
rappelant les origines de la Table
par nos amis belges et a offert à la
Flotte de Bretagne son propre pavillon d'origine.
Surgit alors par miracle GULF
STREAM, Grand Frère de la
Flotte de Bretagne, sabre et moustache levés.
L'Angélus 3 aborde à Sauzon où
nous serons accueillis en grande
cérémonie par le maire, MonsieurNorbert Naudin.
À sa proue, une ravissante esclave
nous supplie de l'arracher aux griffes de ces mécréants.
que GULF STREAM remettra les
trophées de remerciement à tous
les valeureux fondateurs, DECIME et BARBECUL n'ayant pu
se déplacer.
Les Frères en grande tenue entourent BINOCLE et BRADEFER
qui vont recevoir des mains
d'AJUT l'étoile bleue pour grands
services rendus aux Frères en tant
que membres fondateurs tandis
Au petit matin, tout le monde est
gai et frais… Rien de meilleur
qu'une galette saucisse pour démarrer la journée avant de reprendre le bateau, cap sur Hoëdic.
Une brume épaisse est tombée et
Hoëdic nous attend pour retrouver

CAPTAIN RUSTIN qui nous
accueille sous le soleil au son de
son accordéon et Monsieur Allanic, ancien maire, nous conduit au
Fort, repaire du Club Nautique
Hoedicais.
Le maire pousse la chansonnette
Hoedicaise et les Frères Belges
récidivent leur tentative d'empoisonnement avec leur breuvage qui
se révèle, au deuxième jour, porteur de bonne humeur.
La musique reprend, les frères
entonnent, au son du violon de
BRIN d'ARCHET “Partons , la
mer est belle...”, l'hymne des
lieux.
C'est sous un grand soleil et sur
une mer d'huile que l'Angélus fait
route vers le continent.
Sous le Grand Mont, le tumulus de
César et la tombe du petit mousse,
AJUT, dans un moment de recueil
silencieux, chacun tricorne bas, va
rendre hommage à nos frères qui
naviguent sur des mers sereines.
Et la gerbe qui nous a accompagnés en place d’honneur à tous les
instants de ce bel anniversaire est
déposée à la mer.
La corne de l'Angélus 3 sonne
longuement …
L'Angelus 3 est restitué à son armateur, chacun repart le cœur
plein d'émotions, de bons souvenirs et de belles images dans les
yeux.

Nei giorni 25, 26 e 27 Ottobre
scorso si è svolto nella splendida
cornice autunnale di Marciana
Marina il 56° Raduno Nazionale
dei Luogotenenti che, grazie al
tempo propizio, ha visto giungere
il loco alcuni Fratelli con le loro
barche che hanno trovato ospitalità
presso il C.V.M.M. che ha altresì
contribuito alla organizzazione
della manifestazione.
La sera si è svolta la cena di Gala
durante la quale sono stati
consegnati i premi relativi al
concorso tra le Tavole e i Fratelli
italiani; il concorso ha visto, per la
seconda volta, primeggiare la
Tavola di Marsala condotta dal
Lgt. Carlo Pellegrino mentre tra i
Fratelli si è aggiudicato la vittoria
il Fra. Mario Noto, anch’egli della
Tavola di Marsala, per la sua
vittoria alla Middle Sea Race
I vincitori sono stati salutati da
grandi e numerosi golpe de canon
e fiumi di rhum.
Venerdì 25 sono iniziati gli arrivi
e i partecipanti sono stati accolti
con un coktail di benvenuto.
Il giorno successivo i fratelli e
cautivas non impegnati nei lavori
dell’Assemblea al mattino
procedono ad un’ampia escursione
a Portoferraio e alle sue
fortificazioni e alla dimora di
Napoleone, mentre il pomeriggio
si inoltrano nei dedali delle cave di
ferro.
Intanto si svolgono i lavori del
C.G. e G. che si apre con il
benvenuto del nuovo Gran
Commodoro Fabio Scarpellini.
I lavori, visto il periodo di acque
calme, procedono senza sussulti e
come atto finale si procede
all’investitura di 7 nuovi fratelli.
Accolti e salutati dagli uncili
levati dei Fratelli.
Il raduno si è concluso il giorno
seguente con una simpatica
zingarata alla festa della castagna
tipica del luogo; poi lo sciogliete
le righe e i legni hanno fatto
ritorno ai porti d’armamento

started his last journey on 24 July
2013.
The Frères de la Côte (GB)
are deeply saddened by the
passingof our dear Brother
John Eberhardt.
His warmth, generosity of spirit,
integrity and wise counsel
epitomised all that was best in the
Worldwide Brotherhood of the
Coast,
for he was known and loved
the world over.
We have all lost a good friend.

Egbert was a beloved brother en
we joined a lot of joy with him.
He was a very good sailor an a lot
of Dutch and Belgian brothers had
the honor of having him aboard.
Egbert worked from 1967 till
1996 at the Erasmus university in
Rotterdam an under his leadership
the first hart transplantations in
the Netherlands took place. Egbert
was an authority on Thoraxchirurgie and that’s why he put in that
time this chirurgie on the map.
We wish his family strength and
craft with this big loss.

estela de tremendo aprecio y cariño en su tripulación y un innegable legado de fraternidad y enseñanza en toda la Hermandad. El

enviamos nuestras sentidas condolencias a la tribulada tripulación
de la Nao Quintero y por su digno
intermedio a toda su familia, sabiendo que el Todopoderoso, Neptuno, y todos los Hermanos que lo
han antecedido, se regocijarán de
recibirlo en la cubierta de la Nao
Celestial, desde donde él les estará
ayudando a mantener el rumbo del
buen navegar que supo llevar en
su Nao.

national Brotherhoods are authorized to use it
