On Saturday evening, December 8, 2012 at the 15th annual winter charity event, Ballo di
Savoia (Savoy Ball), more than 250 guests enjoyed a glittering ball night to start the Christmas
Season. The Metropolitan Club again provided opulent surroundings for the stellar gala dinner
dance of the Savoy Foundation, which included music, dancing, raffle prizes and a short film
presentation on the history of the Savoy Orders. The white-tie charity gala ball, benefiting the
American Foundation of Savoy Orders, is supported by the knights, dames and friends of the
American Delegation of Savoy Orders, an international association of the dynastic orders of the
Royal House of Savoy.

Ballo di Savoia Reception
Ballo di Savoia – December 8, 2012
Under the patronage of Their Royal Highnesses Prince Victor Emmanuel and Princess
Marina of Savoy, the Savoy Ballo, steeped in tradition and reminiscent of European court balls
of the Royal House of Savoy before the Great War, offered guests a truly unique evening in the
company of Knights and Dames of the Savoy Orders, whilst raising essential funds to support the
Savoy Foundation’s inspirational education, hospice and emergency relief programs.
The Gala began at 7:00 p.m. with a glittering champagne reception in the third floor
ballroom. During the reception, guests had the opportunity to socialize while enjoying the fine
prosecco, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
At 8:00 p.m., the dignitaries and guests, impressive in white tie and tails with orders and
decorations for the gentlemen and ball gowns with decorations for the ladies, entered the Grand
Ballroom, after descending the elegant marble staircase accompanied by the stately Marche
Reale, the traditional anthem when Italy was a monarchy under the House of Savoy, played by
the Mitch Kahn Orchestra. Soprano Allison Davy sang the National Anthem and the Inno Sardo
Nationale, the Savoy anthem of the Kingdom of Sardinia. The evening was also distinguished
by the first public presentation seen on a large movie screen of the new American Delegation
Savoy Orders video. The video can be viewed in its entirety on the web site www.savoia.org or
