Becoming European Capital of Sports and being part of EXPO-TO in 2015, Torino will return under the spotlight of the automotive world, hosting
from 11th to 14th of June, PARCO VALENTINO - SALONE & GRAN PREMIO, an event under the patronage of the City of Torino and presented by
Parco Valentino Organising Committee.
The President of the Committee, Andrea Levy, is a Torino entrepreneur who has worked for years in the trade of communication, tourism and
events, exploiting his four-wheel experience and passion, creating a unique festival which celebrates vehicles both stationarily and dynamically.

PARCO VALENTINO - SALONE & GRAN PREMIO will mark a turning point in the evolution of automotive events, giving the opportunity to
automobile manufacturers and designers to present their cars either in the stationary exhibition set in the Parco del Valentino, or in a dynamic
way, with an event that will catalyze the attention of worldwide television, media, photographers and enthusiasts, the GRAN PREMIO PARCO
VALENTINO which will take place on Sunday, June 14th.

The car is back, and in the leading role.
Stripped down of the captivating sets of traditional car shows, displayed along the beautiful avenues of the Park par excellence of Torino, the
Valentino.
The car will rise on a podium, outdoor, a concept artwork of those automobile manufacturers and designers who will present their novelties on
the market.
Everyone will be welcomed with free admittance, making an event usually for professionals and enthusiasts an all round celebration that will
involve the entire city of Torino, allowing a larger exposure to the exhibited vehicles.

THE GALA TRACK OF AUTOMOBILE AND RACING SPORT
Sunday 14th June, from 10 a.m., the peak of the event: GRAN PREMIO PARCO VALENTINO.
A 14 Km long track departing from the Parco del Valentino and finishing at the Reggia di Venaria, across a city ready and willing to cheer the starring
vehicles.
The most significant production cars of various automobile manufacturers, on an evolutional journey starting from the golden age of automobile up
to the futuristic and most up-to-date vehicles on the market, as well as concepts and prototypes.
Closing the parade, racing and sports cars, the Formula 1, Rally, GT-Series and Sports prototypes will arouse enthusiasts across the city.

AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS
A slender and dynamic Show, away from the demanding and expensive traditional standards yet a lot more car-focused. The Torino Car Show 2015
ideally combines the early 20th Century exhibitions into a new millennium vision.
Designed by Camerana & Partners, the podium concept is a fresh new system on which the cars will be exhibited across the boulevards of the Parco
del Valentino, in a sort of a open-air show-room.
Automobile manufacturers will exhibit and present their models in a new different format to a free admission audience, who will fully enjoy the big
event that will involve the entire city of Torino.
Each brand will have a reserved area, with a minimum of one podium (one car each) up to a maximum of four with various hospitality area and info
points styles (or bespoke).
Areas will be identified for all the different purposes, making them easily recognisable to the visitors.

CAR DESIGNERS
The area assigned to car designers will have a strong visual impact.
Along the avenues of the Parco del Valentino, they will exhibit the most important models of their productions as well as their prototypes, playing an
eye-catching game between the past and the future.
Besides the futuristic lines created by top designers such as Pininfarina, Giugiaro, Stola, Zagato, I.DE.A. Institute and UP Design there will also
be exhibited models created in the ancient times for the European aristocracy, four-wheeled craftsmanship artworks that defined the history of the
automotive world.
RACING BOXES
Inside the Show automobile manufacturers will be provided with a box area, where they may choose to exhibit their racing models celebrating their
commitment to motor sports, displayed in a way visitors will have the feeling of walking through a proper pit-lane.
In addition to automobile manufacturers, private collectors and museum cars will take part to the exhibition.

THE GALA TRACK OF AUTOMOBILE AND RACING SPORT
Sunday June 14th, from 10am to 13pm spotlights will turn over the cars and the city hosting them: Torino, European Capital of Sports 2015. The event
within the event, the GRAN PREMIO PARCO VALENTINO, the track created on purpose where the sports cars, the all-time most successful racing and
standard cars, the most representative of automobile manufacturers and designers, will parade.
GRAN PREMIO PARCO VALENTINO - TRIBUTE TO AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS
With an enthusiasts’ crowded roadside, rushed to see the Gran Premio, it will be even more exciting to applaud each automobile manufacturer’s Tribute,
thanks to the passion that will bring both private collectors and clubs to take part to the parade with their own four wheels. A unique opportunity to gaze
at the most beautiful and significant classic cars, those who marked the motoring history.
While the first part of the event sees the most popular winners in racing sports, the second half will show the evolution of times that each automobile
manufacturer has gone through, concerning the bodywork, the choice of materials and designs. Until this evolution is brought into contemporary times,
to the present day, with the presentation in the dynamics way of news presented to PARCO VALENTINO - SALONE & GRAN PREMIO.
During the Tribute it will also be possible to see future models working, the low environmental impact cars Automobile Manufacturers have been
developing for years. From Parco del Valentino to the Reggia di Venaria the history of the most well known brands in the world will parade, history
climaxing in Piazza San Carlo when each one of the vehicles will be called by name through the loudspeakers and will be photographed, therefore
deservingly entering the prestigious celebrating book that will collect images of all the cars featured in the parade.

A PARADE CELEBRATING RACING SPORT
A further memorable event within the PARCO VALENTINO - SALONE & GRAN PREMIO will be the GRAN PREMIO PARCO VALENTINO, the first
group of Sports cars will start from Parco Valentino and finish at the Reggia di Venaria, glorifying the all-time most winning cars in various motorsports
inside the Savoy courtyard.
One of the highlights of the programme, it must be said, of Torino, European Capital of Sports 2015: a roundup of cars that stood out for wins,
commitment and success. An essential invitation for automobile manufacturers who will have cars who are or were stars in Formula 1, Rally, GT-Series
and Sports Prototypes, hence induced in the Legend, to celebrate motorsport success in a path that will go through the most enchanting locations of
Torino, such as Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Via Po, via Roma and Piazza San Carlo.

TORINO, CAPITAL OF IDEAS
Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Abarth’s big production and the links with Ferrari and Maserati brands, have always made Torino a pivotal place of the
international automobile manufacturing, and it is no conicidence the Sabaudian city is enrolled as a candidate to become Unesco’s Creative City for
the automotive design.
Turin, has always been synonymous with dynamism of thought, innovation, synergies that cross to the future. Torino knows how to renovate and it’s
very good in doing it, embracing the new faces of entrepreneurship, as well as art, culture and publishing.
And trade too, as windows all across town will be adorned with top car miniature models and automotive elements.
A further method to merge Torino with the universe of automobile.
Torino was ready in 2006 when the Winter Olympics had all the world’s spotlights on it. It will be ready again in a few months when it will become
European Capital of Sports and will enter the agenda of the EXPO-TO 2015 events circuit.
Another stage to build a further piece of identity, looking at tomorrow without forgetting the past, building little by little a calendar full of internationally
relevant sports events, including the GRAN PREMIO PARCO VALENTINO, which stands out for originality and media relevance.

“IL VALENTINO”: THE HEART OF THE CITY
Parco del Valentino, simply “il Valentino” for the citizens of Torino, is the oldest and most famous public park in Torino. Covering 421,000 square
metres it takes its place alongside the Mole Antonelliana as one of the great icons of the city.
Set in a splendid position, not far from the historic centre and facing the wonderful Torino hills, it stretches along the western bank of the river
Po, between the Umberto I (corso Vittorio Emanuele II) and Isabella (corso Dante) bridges. The park contains the Castello del Valentino, a royal
residence of the House of Savoy and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The main facade shows architectural features of French castles of the seventeenth century and Baroque Italian buildings. In centuries past, battles
were fought around the castle. Inside, powerful forces met to forge agreements, arrange truces, and bring alliances to an end, placing it at the heart
of many highlights of Italian and Piemontese history.
Even before its completion in 1856, the park was home to large national and international exhibitions, and these continued until 1961. A reconstruction
of a medieval village, with features typical of medieval Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta, was made on the occasion of the Italian General Exhibition in
1884.
Splendid architectural and urban design, the wonderful natural environment, and its history as a location for major events with an international
flavour, make Parco del Valentino a perfect stage for events that combine charm, elegance and innovation.

Parco Valentino has long been a venue for sports and racing events. From 1935 to 1955 the streets winding through the park provided the track for
10 official Formula A (later Formula 1) races.
The greatest drivers of the day - Nuvolari, Ascari, Varzi, Villoresi - pitted their skills against each other along the twisting route, attracting excited
crowds from far and wide. In 1955 more than 50,000 people, including many celebrities, attended the Gran Premio - a record at the time. The finest
racing cars, such as Maserati, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Fiat, faced each other on the park’s track; brands not only embodying the quintessence of
car-making but also representing the excellence of Italian design and technology.
The Gran Premio del Valentino witnessed one of the most extravagant sights in racing history: Tazio Nuvolari crossing the finish line waving the
detached steering wheel.

The last two races in the park, in 1952 and 1955, were named the Gran Premio del Valentino.
From the newspapers of the time we read: “A really wonderful track, winding for 4.088
Kilometres in a long ring through the famous Torino park by the river Po, from the square
in front of the Castello del Valentino to the long, sinuous and uneven avenue up the river
passing by the romantic Medieval Village and under the Isabella bridge tunnel up to the new
Vittorio Emanuele III bridge, to get back with a series of uneasy twists and turns to the start,
after circling the Palace of the Fashion Fair and the pond. All roads are paved, excellent,
wide, though full of difficulties – you can tell by the not very high average speed – because
of the absence of really straight roads and the tricky bends, almost all of them are not
raised, indeed some of them have an adverse camber.
All in all a track where, more than absolute speed or the car’s quality, the driver’s merit is
what really counts, and his audacity; therefore a more than appropriately strict test for the
Italian Driver’s Championship.”

In 1952 the Automobile Club of Torino was able to organise the race again, managing to
reserve it to Formula 1 cars in a season where almost everywhere in Europe was choosing
Formula 2 due to lower costs and risks.
Thirteen cars started on the brand new track, among them four official Ferraris driven by
Ascari, Villoresi, Taruffi, and Farina.
Five Ferraris took the first five places in the race. Villoresi was the winner after the best
drivers had to withdraw because of either mechanical failure or accidents. Nino Farina’s
race ended after 32 laps.

Maybe the most famous Gran Premio del Valentino took place in 1955, and it was
dominated by the unforgettable Alberto Ascari in a Lancia D50. The race took place
on Sunday 27 March and was preceded by practice sessions the day before. Ascari
was in pole position but was overtaken at once by the Maseratis of Musso, Mieres and
Behra. These four were in the lead for much of the race until, on the 21st lap, Musso
had to stop because of an oil pipe failure, making way for Ascari. From that moment
on it was a solo performance by the Lancia driver, who crossed the finish line before
Mieres, giving the Torino team the first win in a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
His supporters, in memory of his last win on the Valentino track, embedded a marble
inscription in the asphalt where his Lancia started the race, right in front of the Castello
del Valentino. The inscription is still there today.
