B. Using a coin, turn the locking screw
clockwise (using some force to do this)
until the arrow mark points to the
“Unlocked” position.
B. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver
and software. Do not turn off your computer until all
the software has been installed.
NOTE: If the Microtek Software Installer screen does
not appear automatically, double-click the following in
succession: “My Computer” on your Windows desktop;
the CD-ROM icon; then cdsetup.exe to start the
installer program.
NOTE: To lock the scanner (for shipping and
other reasons), tilt the front-right corner of the
scanner to see the locking screw. Next, use a
coin to turn the locking screw
counterclockwise until the arrow mark points
to the “Locked” position. Do not turn the
scanner upside down and attempt to lock the
scanner this way; as this may not work.
C. Install the image-editing software application that
came with your scanner.

Connect the power adapter
to a power source
Connect the Hi-Speed USB cable
A. Connect the power adapter to the back of
the scanner.
B. Connect the other end of the cable to the scanner.
B. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet
or other power source. The green LED on
the scanner’s front panel will illuminate.
NOTE: At present, the Hi-Speed USB feature runs in
Windows only. If your computer has both Hi-Speed USB
and USB 1.1 ports, you should connect the cable to the HiSpeed USB port rather than USB 1.1 port to obtain faster
scanning. If your computer does not have a Hi-Speed USB
port, use the USB 1.1 port instead.

A. Place the original to be scanned on the
scanner bed.
To launch ScanWizard 5 as a stand-alone
program, double-click the ScanWizard 5 icon
on your desktop.
You can use the following tool buttons to
change the settings according to your
preferences.
A. Click the Scan to button from the
ScanWizard 5 Control Panel.
By default, the scanner will detect the settings
(under Original, Scan Type, and Purpose), and
automatically perform a “fast preview” of
your image based on those settings.
Original – defines the category of the
original (scan material).
B. The top of the original should be
positioned towards the front end of the
scanner with the surface to be scanned
facing down.
Scan Type – selects the output image type
(color, gray, or B&W).
Purpose – defines the image resolution to
match your target application.
NOTE: Click the Scale Output, Adjust,
and Reset buttons if you need to make
further adjustments.

B. When the Save As dialog box appears,
specify the folder location, a file name,
and the format for the output image, then
click Save. The image is then scanned and
saved to the specified location.
Send image to application after saving:
If this option is checked, the scanned image is
saved first, then automatically delivered to an
image-editing software, an e-mail editor, or a
web browser as indicated in the destination
box.
Scanner Button Controls
The ScanMaker 5800 is equipped with seven scanner
buttons, providing quick access to the most frequently used
functions. These buttons are Scan, Copy, E-mail, OCR,
Scan-to-Web, Cancel/Setup, and Custom. The
parameters for each button can be set through the Microtek
Scanner Configuration (MSC) utility. (NOTE: You need to
exit ScanWizard 5 before accessing the MSC utility).
To launch the MSC utility, simply press the Cancel/Setup button
on your scanner or choose it from your computer: (For PCs) Go
through the Windows menu —click Start, Programs, ScanWizard
5, MSC; or (For PCs or Macs) double-click the MSC icon on your
desktop. When the MSC panel appears, click any of the 6 tabs to
specify the settings accordingly. (For detailed information, refer
to the built-in help in the Microtek Scanner Configuration Utility
software).

Le ScanMaker 5800 est équipé avec sept boutons sur le

OCR

Pour lancer l’utilitaire MSC, pressez simplement le bouton
Annuler/Config. sur votre scanner ou choisissez-le de
votre ordinateur : (PC) Utilisez le menu Windows — cliquez
sur Démarrer, Programmes, ScanWizard 5, MSC ; ou (PC ou
Mac) cliquez deux fois sur l’icône MSC sur le bureau.

B. Quando viene visualizzata la finestra di
dialogo Salva con nome, specificare la
posizione della cartella, un nome file e il
formato dell’immagine di output, quindi
fare clic su Salva. L’immagine viene
acquisita e salvata nella posizione
specificata.
Invia l’immagine all’applicazione dopo
averla salvata:
Se questa opzione è selezionata, l’immagine
acquisita viene prima salvata, quindi
trasferita automaticamente a un software di
elaborazione grafica, un editor di posta
elettronica o un browser Internet, come
indicato nella casella di destinazione.
Per avviare l’utilità MSC, premere il pulsante Annulla/
Imposta dello scanner oppure selezionarla da computer:
(per PC) nel menu di Windows -- fare clic su Start,
Programmi, ScanWizard 5, MSC; oppure (per PC o Mac)
fare doppio clic sull’icona MSC sul desktop. Quando appare
il pannello MSC, fare clic su una qualsiasi delle 6 schede
per specificare le impostazioni di scansione corrispondenti.

Botones del escáner
A. Haga clic en el botón Digitalizar a desde el
Panel de control de ScanWizard 5.
ScanMaker 5800 está equipado con siete botones de
escáner que proporcionan un rápido acceso a las funciones
utilizadas más frecuentemente. Estos botones son
Digitalizar, Copiar, Correo electrónico, OCR, Digitalizar
para Web, Cancelar/Configurar y Personalizar. Los
parámetros de cada botón se pueden establecer a través
de la utilidad Microtek Scanner Configuration (MSC).
(NOTA: debe salir de ScanWizard 5 antes de acceder a la
utilidad MSC).
B. Cuando aparezca el cuadro de diálogo
Guardar como, especifique la ubicación
de la carpeta, el nombre del archivo y el
formato de la imagen y haga clic en
Guardar. La imagen se digitalizará y se
guardará en la ubicación especificada.
Enviar la imagen a una aplicación
después de guardar:
Si está activada esta opción, la imagen
digitalizada se guardará y, a continuación, se
enviará automáticamente a un programa de
edición de imágenes, a un editor de e-mail o
a un navegador de Internet, en función de la

Annulla/Imposta
Avvia l’utilità MSC quando non vi sono scansioni in corso. Annulla

Copia

Acquisisce un’immagine e ne invia l’output a un sito Internet. Si apre
il browser predefinito, che visualizza l’immagine acquisita.
Personalizza
Personalizza le funzioni Risparmio energetico, Esegui scansione, Fax,
e Avvia applicazione in base alle proprie necessità.
Cancelar/Configurar
Inicia la utilidad MSC cuando el escáner no está digitalizando.
