Aquileia Crossroad of the Roman Empire Exhibition Opening Tuesday 23rd August at 6.30pm Italian Institute of Culture Free Admission The exhibition will be open to the public during office hours and on the occasion of cultural events Office Hours: Mon/Fri -10:00/13:00 and 15:00/17:00 Aquileia was founded by the Romans in the year 181 B.C. Due to its strategic position and its port, Aquileia soon became an important centre of cultural and commercial exchange between North Europe and the Mediterranean Sea and grew to become the ninth city in size and importance of the Roman Empire. This exhibition was created in 2009 and since then has travelled around Europe explaining the history and the role of Aquileia in the Roman Empire. An event promoted by Mitteleuropa Cultural Association in partnership with Fogolâr Furlan d’Irlanda and Italian Institute of Culture and in collaboration with Ente Friuli nel Mondo, Province of Udine, Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia and Turismo Friuli Venezia Giulia.
