Research Activities : - The research project linked to the Lagrange Fellowship concerns the so called coordinated control, that is the analysis of the behaviour of a systems consisting of a large number of simple (in general identical) subsystems (agents) whose time evolution is subject to feedback control rules taking into account the dynamical state of the single agent and of its neighbours but also the boundary conditions and random perturbations of the velocity field. In collaboration with Prof. F. Fagnani (Dipartimento di Matematica, Politecnico di Torino), il Prof. M. Campanino (Dipartimento di Matematica, Università degli Sudi di Bologna), Prof. M. Isopi (Dipartimento di Matematica, Università di Roma “la Sapienza”) I started to analyse, making use of techniques borrowed from the theory of random graphs, percolation and control theory, the probability that, varying the control parameters and the initial conditions, such systems, in the limit of the number of agents becomes very large, assume particular dynamical states which in the literature go by the name of flocking or swarming. More precisely, since the agents are supposed to interact (communicate) only if their mutual distance is smaller than a certain value, my aim is to study the probability that a large number of agents (eventually infinite) give rise to a communication graph evolving in time or collapse in a specific point of the configuration space. - Since november 2001 I began to study, in collaboration with Prof. M. Campanino (Department of Mathematics - University of Bologna, Bologna (Italy)) the asymptotical shape of the percolation cluster for the Bernoulli percolation model in the subcritical regime. In particular, we have analised the local limit behaviour for the probability of the event that tree points are connected through three disjoint open self-avoiding paths under the condition that they are connected. Actually I am currently studying the dacay of truncated two points connectivity function for the Bernoulli percolation model, in the supercritical regime, along off-axis directions, for values of the lattice dimension larger than or equal to three. The expected asymptotic behaviour of such quantity, in the limit of the distance between the points becoming very large, is the Ornstein-Zernike one at least for values of the occupation probability sufficiently close to one. - Since january 1999 I began to study the equilibrium Statistical Mechanics of a model of plane rotaors with Kac potential. Most of the results in this subject were obtained in collaboration with Dr. P. Picco Directeur de Recherches at the Centre de Physique Théorique C.N.R.S. (Luminy - Marseille, France), where I spent two years as a PhD student, and with Prof. M. Campanino (Department of Mathematics - University of Bologna, Bologna (Italy)). Some of the results of these reseachs are contained in my PhD thesis (thèse en cotutelle France-Italie / tesi in cotutela Italia -Francia) entitled: Transizione di fase di Kosterlitz-Thouless per un modello di Kac a simmetria continua Transition de phase de Kosterlitz et Thouless pour un modèle de Kac à symétrie continue Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition for Kac rotators. - Since 1996, under the supervision of Prof. G. Dell’Antonio (Department of Mathematics - University of Roma “la Sapienza”), I began to study the evolution of a quantum system constrained to a surface of codimension lower or equal one. - Since 1993 in collaboration with Prof. C. Albanese (Department of Mathematics - University of Toronto, Canada) and with Prof. M. Isopi (Department of Mathematics - University of Bari, Italy)I began to study the stochastic evolution of descete interacting spin systems, in particolar the Glauber process for Ising spin systems. Some of the results of these studies are presented in my Laurea thesis in Physics entitled: Rilassamento Termodinamico per Sistemi di Spin Stocastici Thermodinamic Relaxation for Stochastic Spin Systems.
