La Biennale non è solo Arsenale e
Giardini, ma anche mostre ed eventi
collaterali che aprono le porte di
quei luoghi altrimenti chiusi, come
palazzi e salotti nobiliari privati, che
svelano per l’occasione i loro tesori
nascosti.

The Biennial is not just held in the
Arsenale and the gardens, there are
fringe exhibitions and events too,
held in venues that would otherwise

Espressione dell’architettura barocca
veneziana, la Chiesa è stata costruita
per rispettare un voto fatto dal
Senato nel 1630. Infatti il governo
della Serenissima per ringraziare la
scampato pericolo della peste e
della rinnovata potenza di Venezia
sul mare, fece ergere la Basilica di
Santa Maria della Salute.
An example of Venetian baroque
architecture, the church was built in
fulfilment of a vow taken by the
Senate in 1630. The government of
the Serenissima Republic had the
Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute
(St. Mary of Health) erected in
gratitude for having escaped the
perils of the plague and for the
renewed power of Venice over the
sea.

Costruito alla fine dei 1500, il Ponte è
stato fino al 1854, anno in cui fu
eretto quello dell'Accademia, l'unico
modo per attraversare il Canal
Grande a piedi. Il Rialto misura
ventotto metri di lunghezza e più di
sette di altezza.
Built towards the end of 1500s, the
bridge was the only way to cross the
Grand Canal on foot up until 1854
when the Accademia Bridge was
built. The Rialto is twenty-eight
metres long and more than seven
metres high.

Ca’ d’Oro è uno dei più prestigiosi
palazzi tardogotici di Venezia. Oggi
ospita la collezione d’arte del barone
Giorgio Franchetti (1865-1927), che
nel 1916 donò allo Stato italiano le
sue raccolte e l’edificio stesso, dopo
averne ripristinato, con ingenti
restauri, lo splendore originario.
Ca' d'Oro is one of the finest late
gothic palaces in Venice. It now
houses the art collection of Baron
Giorgio Franchetti (1865-1927), who
donated his collections and the
building itself to the Italian state in
1916, after having carried out
extensive restorations to restore its
original splendour.

Una chiesa affascinante risalente al
VII secolo e che fu la cattedrale di
Venezia sino al 1807, data in cui
venne sostituita dalla cattedrale di
San Marco. Il progetto della sua
facciata è attribuito all’architetto
Andrea Palladio.

seventh century that was the
cathedral of Venice until 1807, when
it was replaced by St. Mark's. The
design of the façade is attributed to
