Tenor
Born in Messina, he began the music studies in his home town at the “Arcangelo Corelli” Academy of Music, with Antonio
Bevacqua. A winner of the first prize at the “Giuseppe Di Stefano” international competition held by Luglio Musicale Trapanese, he
made his debut as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore in 1996 in Lecce.
He started a successful career performing in some among the most important international theatres such as Teatro alla Scala, New
York MET, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra Natonal de Paris, Berlin Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, La Monnaie in Bruxelles, Teatro
Real in Madrid, New National Theatre in Tokyo, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro dell’Opera in Roma, Accademia
Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, with a repertoire including Don Giovanni, Falstaff,
L’italiana in Algeri, Gianni Schicchi, La sonnambula, I Puritani, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Semiramide, La Cenerentola , Œdipus Rex,
L’elisir d’amore, Don Pasquale, Elisabetta, regina d’Inghilterra, L’equivoco stravagante, La gazzetta, Rossini’s Otello and Il
viaggio a Reims.
He collaborated with such important conductors as Adam Fischer, Valeri Gergeev, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Daniele Gatti,
Maurizio Benini, Alberto Zedda, Renato Palumbo, Roberto Abbado, Bruno Campanella, Donato Renzetti and Yves Abel.
During his career he performed several times the role of Conte d’Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in such venues as Wiener
Staatsoper, Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper in Berlino, Opéra National de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Hamburgische
Staatsoper, Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, New National Theatre of Tokyo, National Center for the Performance Arts in Beijing,
Opera Company of Philadelphia, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro
Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
Regolar guest of Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro, he took part in several productions, such as Otello, Il viaggio a Reims, La scala di
seta, La gazzetta, L’equivoco stravagante, Elisabetta, Regina d’Inghilterra, Ermione and Tancredi.
He opened the 2015/16 season with Don Pasquale (Ernesto) at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, followed by Mass in E minor by Mozart,
Stabat Mater by Rossini in Torino and Bergamo, Zelmira at Opéra de Lyon, La Cenerentola and Il barbiere di Siviglia at Wiener
Staatsoper, La Sonnambula at Palacio Euskuladana de Bilbao.
Among his future plans are La Cenerentola at Teatro Regio di Torino, I Capuleti e i Montecchi at Liceu de Barcelona, Ciro in
Babilonia at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Don Pasquale (Ernesto) at Otsu Biwako Hall, L’Italiana in Algeri at Wiener
Staatsoper, Il barbiere di Siviglia at Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
During the last season 2014/15 he performed Tancredi with the Russian National Orchestra in Moscow, La fille du régiment at
Teatro Real de Madrid, Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, L’elisir d’amore and Il
barbiere di Siviglia at Wiener Staatsoper and at Teatro Regio di Torino, Il turco in Italia at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and at
Teatro Regio di Torino, and I Puritani at Opera in Florence.
He opened the 2013/14 season making his company debut with Liceu de Barcelona in Verdi Bicentary Concerts, followed by Il
barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro Regio di Torino, Le Comte Ory at Bunka Kaikan of Tokyo, L’italiana in Algeri at Palau de les Arts de
Valencia and at Opéra National de Paris, L’italiana in Algeri at Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris, Armida at Rossini Opera
Festival in Pesaro. During the 2012/13 season he made his debut in such Verdi’s titles as Falstaff at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Un
giorno di regno (Edoardo) at Opera de Bilbao and La traviata (Alfredo) at Teatro della Fortuna di Fano.
The recent seasons has also brought him to perform Armida at the Metropolitan in New York, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini at
the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris and with London Philharmonic Orchestra, Guillaume Tell at the Opernhaus in Zurich,
L’italiana in Algeri at the Staatsoper in Berlin, at the Teatro Regio in Torino and in Bilbao, Les Pécheurs de perles at the Teatro
Filarmonico di Verona, L’Osteria di Marechiaro at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Tancredi at the Teatro Regio in Torino, La
Cenerentola at the Opernhaus in Zürich, at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris and at the New
National Theatre in Tokyo, Roméo et Jiuliette, L’italiana in Algeri, La fille du régiment and L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Verdi di
Trieste, Sigismondo, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Il cappello di paglia di Firenze and Il turco in Italia at the Teatro Carlo Felice in
Genova, Rossini’s Stabat Mater at the Teatro Real in Madrid, La sonnambula, Elisabetta, Regina d’Inghilterra and I Puritani at the
Monnaie in Bruxelles, Semiramide and La donna del lago at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Il barbiere di Siviglia and I Puritani at the
