The brassin’ mountains of Primiero
Primiero Dolomiti Brass Festival 2009: June 29th till July 4th:
The perfect musical vacation to keep in … mountain!
As for the last four years, Primiero, amongst Trentino Alto Adige’s most suggestive valleys, will
be hosting the Primiero Dolomiti Festival Ottoni/Brass, in Italy the most comprehensive brass
ensembles survey and, at the same time, an opportunity for brass and music lovers to enjoy the
valleys rich entertainment, nature and sports offer. The Festival, which is organized by Primiero’s
Music School with the support of local tourist institutions will take place from monday June 29th
through saturday July 4th. Among the festival’s guests world famous German Brass, Fabrizio
Bosso & Javier Girotto Latin Mood, RAI Orchestra Brass Quintet. Compared to the previous
editions of the Festival, this year’s is characterized by two new series: the JAZZ BRASS’, a must
for jazz addicted, and FRIENDS’, an entertaining programme for both music and sports lovers
(biking, trekking, orienteering). As from it’s beginnings the festival series will be set in various
locations such as:
CONCERT BRASS, the evening concerts series, held in Primiero and Vanoi’s Valley music
halls, featuring this year the Rimm 4 Brass and German Brass;
OPEN AIR BRASS, open-air concerts in Primiero and Vanoi’s Valley, hosting the Brass Quintet
of RAI Symphony Orchestra, the Millennium Drum & Bugle Corps, the Italian Horn
Ensemble and the Abracada Brass;
BABY BRASS concerts, especially conceived for children by the Bim Bum Brass;
JAZZ BRASS, one of 2009 season’s new series, special guest: Fabrizio Bosso & Javier
Girotto Latin Mood;
DRINK SOUND BRASS, the daily rendez-vous with mixed brass ensembles, set starting at 10.00
am in Fiera di Primiero’s centre.

BIM BUM BRASS
A teachers and performers ensemble, the Bim Bum Brass’ has performed worldwide in both
concert halls and theatrical contexts, and recorded many cds. They have authored musicals such
as “Il sogno di Mago Merlino” and “SuonaNapoli…oppur muori!” from Italo Calvino’s “Le città

FABRIZIO BOSSO & JAVIER GIROTTO LATIN MOODS
Fabrizio Bosso, world top trumpet player, enfant prodige then graduated at Washington DC St.
Mary’s College, studies with Pierre Thibaud. Musica Jazz best upcoming performer in 1999,
starts touring that same years with the “Fabrizio Bosso Quintet”. His collaboration with Javier
Girotto’s Latin Moods Argentine musicians leads to the cd “Sol!” (2008), by Blue Note.

A five world acclaimed – by both audience and critics - musicians group, the Rai brass quintet
repertoire includes music from the Renaissance and Baroque to Jazz and the contemporaries
authors, as well as worldmusic.
MILLENNIUM DRUM & BUGLE CORPS
Italy Marching Bands Competition (IMSB) five consecutive seasons winners, two times word
champions, the Millennium Drum&Bugle Corps are one of the national milestones in this field.

ENSEMBLE CORNISTICO ITALIANO
The esemble, which has often performed at the presence of Italy’s President, will perform horns’
as well as hunting traditional music, well-suited for the beautiful natural performance contexts in
which their performances will take place. Their repertoire includes the Messa di Hubert and
Rossini’s “Gran Fanfare” .
ABRACADA BRASS
Five outstanding musicians, the Abracada Brass’ broad repertoire includes both classical
masterpieces and pop and jazz hits.
RIMM 4 BASS
The chamber ensemble Rimm 4 Brass performers have a grounded performing and teaching
experience, which has lead the group to important festival scenes and to the attention, and
appreciation, of both audience and critics.
GERMAN BRASS
First brass ensemble in Germany and the field’s present milestone on an international level, the
German Brass’ are the very special guests of the Festival. Their performances are known for their
peculiar blend of crystalline and magnificent, symphonic sound and for a repertoire with no equal
ranging from Scheidt to Shostakovich, from dixieland to bossa nova, and including classical
