Piani di Studio SP SANZIO - GEOGRAFIA IN
ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO TRENTO 5
Piani di Studio Scuola Primaria "R. Sanzio"
revisione 2014/2015
Classi veicolari, scuola R. Sanzio
Geografia
Primo biennio
Competenze
Leggere l’organizzazione di un
territorio, utilizzando il linguaggio, gli
strumenti e i principi della geografia;
saper interpretare tracce e fenomeni e
compiere su di essi operazioni di
classificazione, correlazione, inferenza
e generalizzazione
Avere coscienza delle conseguenze
positive e negative dell’azione
dell’uomo sul territorio, rispettare
l’ambiente e agire in modo responsabile
nell’ottica di uno sviluppo sostenibile
Abilità
The student is able to
- move effectively within a given space,
through the use of simple geographical
maps and also road maps;
- draw information from simple maps;
- illustrate paths and routes in different
spaces using simple graphs or models;
- recognize the functions and uses of a
variety of spaces and can locate objects
and their position from different points of
view;
- recognise and use points of reference/
landmarks.
Conoscenze
- simple keys and scales on maps and
graphs relating to classroom, school, the
local area and the city;
- simple coordinates on a map;
- paths and routes in familiar spaces;
- topological concepts;
- knowledge and understanding of their
position in familiar spaces.
The students
- begin to question and speculate about
the relationship between humans and
environment;
- reflect upon a personal experience and
also the positive or negative impact that
humans can have on their environment;
- hypothesize, speculate and propose
actions which could enrich and improve the
environment in which we live
- adopts responsible behaviour and
respect towards saving and avoiding
unnecessary waste of natural resources,
- examples of natural and human elements
for our own environment ;
- awareness of other natural environments:
e.g. deserts, forests and rainforests, the
northern and southern poles and the
equator;
- examples of how people affect their
environment;
- possible strategies and solutions to
address the problems related to
responsible use of energy and water,
recycling of waste materials at home and
at school. Eco friendly means of transport
energy/heating and water.
and renewable sources of energy.

Geografia
Secondo biennio
Competenze
Leggere l’organizzazione di un
territorio, utilizzando il linguaggio, gli
strumenti e i principi della geografia;
saper interpretare tracce e fenomeni e
compiere su di essi operazioni di
classificazione, correlazione, inferenza
e generalizzazione
Abilità
The student is introduced:
- to various types of maps, e.g. physical,
political, thematic maps;
- to the use of codes and strategies to read
maps (compares different types of maps,
draws information from graphs and tables
to describe different phenomena);
- solving problems techniques through the
use of graphs, maps (different scales),
aerial photographs and satellite images;
The children will learn to plan and describe
a trip, suggesting and using a range of
mapping skills.
The student is able to recognize the Italian
regions on a political map and draw
comparisons with English speaking
countries.
Conoscenze
-Knowledge of different maps and the
significance of different scales;
- satellite images.
Partendo dall’analisi dell’ambiente
regionale, comprendere che ogni
territorio è una struttura complessa e
dinamica, caratterizzata dall’interazione
tra uomo e ambiente: riconoscere le
modificazioni apportate nel tempo
dall’uomo sul territorio
The student will
- identify human activities in the local
environment;
- have the capacity to make connections
between the environment, its resources
and conditions of human life;
- understand through studying the local
area why and how we change our
environment and the consequences of
- The characteristics of the environment we
live in;
- natural and artificial elements of one’s
own environment;
- resources which have allowed the
development of human settlements.
these changes;
- be able to recognise/identify that people
have changed the natural environment
over time;
- express ideas based on their experience
of the impact human transformation has
had and may have on the environment;
Conoscere territori vicini e lontani e
ambienti diversi, saperli confrontare,
cogliendo i vari punti di vista con cui si
può osservare la realtà geografica
(geografia fisica, antropologica,
economica, politica, ecc.)
The student
- is capable of identifying and describing
features of the landscape, (mountains,
hills, plains, coastlines and volcanic areas);
- identify similarities and differences
between the past and the present in the
landscape;
- locate on a map of the world the positions
of the continents, different countries, with
particular attention to English speaking
countries.
- the elements of physical landscape,
morphology, sources of water and climate;
- concept of resources (water, land, sun
etc.)
- the main characteristics of a country
including geographical landscape;
- make comparisons with different
environments (plains, hills, mountains,
oceans/seas);
- the main physical and artificial features
within a country;
- concept of boundaries/borders;
- Italy and its geographic position in
Europe and the world.
Avere coscienza delle conseguenze
positive e negative dell’azione
dell’uomo sul territorio, rispettare
l’ambiente e agire in modo responsabile
nell’ottica di uno sviluppo sostenibile
The student will be able to
- understand the relationship between the
environment, environmental resources
(water, energy, earth and human lifestyle)
focusing on the positive effects humans
can have on the environment;
- study examples of human activities at a
local national and global level and
determine the positive and negative
consequences of them on the
environment;
-Main environmental problems in Italy and
other countries: for example climatic
changes;
- possible strategies to apply in order to
address these issues, for example sensible
use of electricity and water in the home
and school environment, separating and
recycling waste material, eco friendly
means of transport, resources of
renewable energy.
- study and suggest to problems related to
the protection, preservation and
improvement of the environmental and
cultural heritage
