A Word from Father Sam
Today, Sunday, May 19 is Pentecost Sunday, the birthday
of the Church and the end of the Easter Season. Our liturgical season now is: Ordinary Time. Ordinary time, after
Pentecost, lasts for almost six months. During this extended period, the church calls on us to continue our efforts to
love and serve God in daily life. The example and teaching
of Jesus, the Apostles and the prophets are presented to us
each week. During the finals weeks, Ordinary Time looks
ahead to the end of time and the coming of Christ in Glory
as our Judge – leading us into the celebration of Advent
once again. So we experience the circle of worship life:
Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent, Easter, and
Ordinary Time. There is also the shortest liturgical cycle at
the end of Lent and that is the Sacred Triduum: Holy
Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Let us live in
our worship time with great faith worshipping God with
devotion.
Prayer for the Family
Lord God, from You every family in Heaven and on
earth takes its name. Father, You are love and life.

La Parola di Padre Sam
Oggi Domenica, 19 Maggio é Domenica di Pentecoste, il
compleannoa della Chiesa e la fine della stagione Pasquale.
Adesso inizia il periodo liturgico: Tempo Ordinario. Il tempo
ordinario, dopo la Pentecoste, ha una durata di quasi sei
mesi. Durante questo periodo la chiesa ci chiede di continuare ad amare e servire Dio nella vita giornaliera. L’esempio
e l’insegnamento di Gesú, gli apostoli e i profeti sono presentati a noi ogni settimana. Durante le finali settimane, il
tempo ordinario guarda avanti alla fine del tempo e la venuta
di Cristo in gloria come nostro giudice. Che ci porta poi alla
celebrazione nuovamente dell’avvento. E cosí si rivive il cerchio della vita di preghiera: avvento, Natale, tempo ordinario, quaresima, Pasqua e tempo ordinario. Cé anche il piú
corto cerchio liturgico alla fine della quaresima che é la sacra
trinitá. Viviamo il nostro periodo di preghiera con grande
fede e adoriamo Dio con devozione..
Funeral Practices
If a family is not going to have vigil prayers and only wants
visitation and mass on the same day this new regulation will
apply concerning eulogies:
1) If there is not a eulogy, visitation will be from 10am to
11am then Holy mass will begin
2) If there is a eulogy, visitation will be for 30 minutes (10am
– 10:30am) and then the casket will be closed and the eulogy
will be given. Mass will begin at 11am sharp. There will be
absolutely no deviation from this regulation.

Italian community in Winnipeg.

Eulogies are only given once. So, if the eulogy is given at
prayers it will not be presented again before mass.
Pratiche Funerarie
Se una famiglia non vuole le preghiere della veglia e vuole
solo visitazione e messa lo stesso giorno, questa nuova regola
sará applicata riguardante gli elogi:
1) Se non ci sono gli elogi, la visitazione sará dalle 10am alle
11am dopo ché inizierá la santa messa.
2) Se ci sono gli elogi, la visitazione sará di 30 minuti
(10am-10:30am) dopoché si chiuderá la bara e saranno detto
gli elogi. La messa inizierá alle 11am precise. Non ce nessuna deviazione a questa regola.
Gli elogi vanno detti solo una volta. Se é stato dato l’elogio
alle preghiere non sara presentato nuovamente prima della
messa.
50th Anniversary Celebration
A celebration will be held in honour of Archbishop James
Weisgerber`s 50th anniversary of ordination to the Priesthood
on Friday, May 31, 2013 in St. Mary`s Cathedral. Mass will
begin at 7:30pm followed by a reception in teh Grand Ball
Room of the Delta Hotel.
