*The Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art – CRT has undertaken the Resò
project in the conviction that the creation of a permanent platform of residencies that
facilitate the mobility of artists is not just a way of helping to develop their creative
abilities, but also a concrete contribution to the process of internationalization of the
Piedmont territory. Making it possible for young Egyptians, Brazilians, Indians, Colombians and others to have an experience of life and work in the excellent institutions
that operate in the education sector in our region, and for young inhabitants of that
region to spend time in foreign countries to come to grips with realities that are very
distant from our own, is undoubtedly a precious gift for our entire community, and
not only for the artistic community. The encounters, knowledge, crossings of visions
and values, and exchanges of residencies produce respect for diversity and innovation,
on both an artistic and a social level. Twenty years ago, conversing with Hans Ulrich
Obrist, Douglas Gordon confessed with great simplicity that “art is an excuse to have
a dialogue.” Dialogue, réseau of human threads, which seems to be the only antidote
to the spread of lacerating differences and misunderstandings. After the first five years
in which the network has spread and become established, the time had come to identify
its contours and to observe its results, in a publication that captures it in time. Acknowledgment of the efforts of those in charge of the Piedmont institutions that have managed and contributed to the project, demonstrating ability and intelligence in a team
effort in the interest of all, was also due. For our part, we can pledge our commitment
to continue to believe in what they are doing.

*La Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea – CRT ha promosso la progettazione di Resò nella convinzione che la realizzazione di una piattaforma permanente
di residenze che favoriscano la mobilità degli artisti sia non soltanto un sostegno allo
sviluppo della loro capacità creativa, ma anche un contributo concreto al processo d’internazionalizzazione del territorio piemontese. Che a giovani egiziani, brasiliani, indiani, colombiani e via dicendo sia fornita l’occasione di vivere un’esperienza di vita e
di lavoro nelle istituzioni eccellenti che operano nel settore della formazione nella nostra
Regione e che ai giovani qui residenti sia consentito di soggiornare in località straniere
per misurarsi con realtà lontane dalla nostra, è senza dubbio un regalo prezioso per
tutta la nostra comunità, e non soltanto per quella artistica. Gli incontri, la conoscenza,
gli incroci di visioni e di valori e gli scambi di residenze producono rispetto per le diversità e innovazione, non solo artistica ma anche sociale. Vent’anni fa, conversando
con Hans Ulrich Obrist, Douglas Gordon confessava con molta semplicità che “l’arte,
in realtà, è una scusa per cominciare un dialogo”. Dialogo, réseau di fili umani, che
appare come l’unico antidoto al diffondersi d’incomprensioni e differenze laceranti.
Dopo i primi cinque anni in cui la rete si è diffusa e consolidata era opportuno individuarne i contorni e osservarne i risultati in un prodotto editoriale che li fissi nel
tempo. Analogo riconoscimento meritavano i responsabili delle istituzioni piemontesi
che hanno gestito e animato il progetto dimostrando la capacità e l’intelligenza di saper
operare in squadra nell’interesse di tutti. Per quanto ci riguarda, permane l’impegno a
continuare a credere in quello che stanno facendo.
