MARCO CAPPELLINI RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ANVE
During the convention of the VIII Giornata Nazionale del Vivaismo Mediterraneo, the Meeting,
unanimously, confirmed Marco Cappellini as President of the Associazione Nazionale Vivaisti
Esportatori (National Association of Nursery-Stock Exporters). The new Board of Directors was
elected. Moreover, scholarships and internships were granted to three graduates.
On 3 and 4 June, on occasion of the Stefano Capitanio prize-giving ceremony, the ANVE Meeting,
Convention, and events, which brought numerous novelties as well as the celebration of the first
10 years of the Association, took place. In fact, the Shareholders Meeting with the relative voting
operations for the renewal of the Board of Directors in office until 2018, were held on 3 June. This

Right after the election of the 15 Directors, the Meeting voted for the new President and, the
outgoing President Marco Cappellini has been formally and unanimously re-elected.

associations at Italian level, with international projection and collaborations with the most

important associations in the world. I would like to thank all the members and those that, even
before me, have been working to create and strengthen the Association, and today, 10 years after
its foundation, we can affirm to have worked together, and obtained great results for the entire
sector. We have demonstrated, not only with words, but with actions and earned esteem and
consideration of many new companies, districts, and institutions”.
The ANVE Convention, during which the internal activities and Service companies affiliated with
the Association were presented, took place following. The Secretary Edoardo Sciutti intervened
presenting the opportunities offered by the new VivaiFiori process certification, the new Phytoweb
portal rich in custom procedures and phytosanitary information for the export in the European
countries and co-financed by ICE/Agency and MISE, the botanical database that allows consulting
1500 plant nursery varieties and the INFODESK agreement for the MPS ABC certification. Regarding
the Phytoweb portal, the ICE Agency also intervened through its representative Marcello Gentile
who explained the activities proposed to the companies and aimed at the internationalisation,
specifically to those of southern Italy thanks to the funds from the EXPORT SUD plan.
Very interesting was also the intervention of Padova Fiere that presented the programme and
commercial proposals reserved to the Members for the next Flormart that will be held from 21 to
23 September.

The first meeting of the Board of Directors took place in the afternoon, and on proposal of the
President, Leonardo Capitanio was appointed Vice President and Antonino Giambò Treasurer.
Therefore, the Board of Directors is made-up of the representatives of important companies, such
as Vivai Acciarri, Vivai Aumenta, Arena Vivai, Vivai Buemi, Buongiovanni Vivai Piante, Vivai
Capitanio Stefano, Giorgio Tesi Group, Vivai d’Adda Gianpietro, Piante Faro, Terra Alta, Sicilia Verde,
Vivai Imperatore, Ideaverde, Vivai de Laurentiis, and Compagnia del Lago Maggiore.
ANVE is composed of a network of more than 800 companies representing all the Italian regions
where nursery-gardening activity is more developed, thus guarantying the maximum territorial
distribution at national level.
The gala dinner was held in the evening and the President Cappellini assigned to the founding
President Maurizio Lapponi one recognition plaque to celebrate the ten years of ANVE and his
efforts in the foundation of the Association, and another two commemorative ones for the
founding members Stefano Capitanio and Giorgio Delfino.
On 4 June the convention entitled “The production and commercial future of nursery-gardening:
new development scenarios determined by European regulations”, was held. The speakers have
discussed the aspects linked to phytosanitary safety and to the next Plant Health regulation; they
also gave all the information about the situation relative to the Xylella Fastidiosa emergency and
the scientific measures adopted to eradicate this scourge. These were the interventions of the
convention moderated by the Editor-in-Chief of TG 5 Giuseppe de Filippi:

The convention ended with the assignment of the Degree Prizes “Stefano Capitanio” that, for the
first time had three winners instead of two. In fact, for the master’s degree theses, having obtained

Nicolò Pagliani, graduated at the University of Bologna with the thesis entitled “Logistica e
competitività nel comparto vivaistico ornamentale: il posizionamento degli operatori”

Chiara Aglietti, graduated at the University of Florence with the thesis entitled “Messa a
punto della tecnica LAMP per ladiagnosi di Phytophthora ramorume Xylella fastidiosa”
The following graduate was awarded for the three-year degree:

Lucrezia Lopes, graduated at the University of Florence with the thesis entitled “La corte
delle stagioni: progetto di giardino pubblico per la riqualificazione di Piazza dello Spirito
Santo a Pistoia”
Finally the visit to the botanical garden at the hosting structure of the Vivai Capitanio Stefano with
the wish of a greater development of the future activities and perspectives.
ANVE is the only national association of nurserymen operating at national and international level.
ANVE, aware of the strategic importance of exporting, is not only directed to Nursery-Stock
Exporters, but operates protecting the interests of all Italian nurserymen.
ANVE offers support and protection services to nurserymen and is an efficient representative
instrument of Italian nursery companies to dialogue with national and foreign institutions. The
association was constituted at behest of the operators of the sector interested in having access to
more specific information aimed at their activity and participating in sector consultation systems,
in Italy and in Europe, as well as beyond the EU boundaries.
