Laureus Sport for Good Foundation e per l’operato dell’Academy.

I vincitori sono selezionati dalla massima giuria sportiva – composta da 52 membri della Laureus
World Sports Academy, leggende viventi dello sport che premiano i più grandi atleti di oggi.

La programmazione televisiva di Laureus è seguita da milioni di spettatori in oltre 180 Paesi.

Ai Laureus World Sports Awards partecipano personaggi della scena mondiale dello sport, dello
spettacolo, degli affari e della moda.

La Laureus è stata fondata dai patroni Richemont e Daimler ed è supportata dai suoi Partner
Mondiali Mercedes-Benz e IWC Schaffhausen.

La votazione per stabilire i vincitori è divisa in due parti: in prima istanza un comitato di selezione
dove redattori, scrittori e giornalisti televisivi di spicco di tutto il mondo di oltre 100 Paesi creano una
lista di sei nominativi per ogni categoria. Successivamente i membri del Laureus World Sports
Academy votano, attraverso uno scrutinio segreto, per selezionare i vincitori dei premi.

è
monitorato
dalla
società
indipendente
di
verifica
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Le categorie votate dalla Giuria Laureus costituita dai rappresentanti dei media sono sei: Laureus
World Sportsman of the Year (Campione dell'anno), Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year
(Campionessa dell'anno), Laureus World Team of the Year (Squadra dell'anno), Laureus World
Breakthrough of the Year (Rivelazione dell'anno) e Laureus World Comeback of the Year (Ritorno
dell'anno) e Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year (Atleta dell'anno di uno sport
d'azione).
•
La categoria votata dalle giurie speciali è: Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability
(Atleta diversamente abile dell'anno), scelto/a dal comitato esecutivo del Comitato Paralimpico
Internazionale.
•
Il Laureus World Sports Awards 2015 si è tenuto il 15 Aprile a Shanghai, in Cina.
•
Laureus deriva dal latino “laurel” (lauro) – il simbolo universale che indica la vittoria nello sport.
•
Ogni vincitore riceverà una statuetta Laureus prodotta in esclusiva da Cartier. La natura
universale dello sport è celebrata dalla rappresentazione dei cinque continenti, che sono incisi alla
base del premio. Le statuette sono alte 30 cm e pesano 2,5 kg. Ognuna contiene 670 grammi di
argento massiccio con una base d’oro di 650 grammi.
