La sua caratteristica particolare è il mandrino folle che si aziona soltanto con la pressione dell'accessorio da filettaree torna automaticamente indietro con la pressione contraria. Una speciale guida permette di filettare perpendicolare senza rovinare il pezzo . Il mandrino folle autocentrante può montare filettatori dalla misura M1 a M8. Il processo di filettatura serve per ripulire la sede delle viti di montaggio dalle imperfezioni del trattamento superficiale come la placcatura , nichelatura e qualsiasi altro trattamento galvanico con apporto di materiale .
