Gioisca was formed in 2014 to explore the wealth of repertoire for high
soprano, Baroque trumpet and organ. The group’s repertoire has
expanded to include a variety of works in different styles, and this
evening’s programme reflects both the musical aims of the Exeter Bach
Society and the fascinating and unusual history of the Customs House.
Héloïse West is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and of the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Known especially for her work in
oratorio and solo song, Héloïse has established a career in the South West
and beyond.
Claude Lamon is head of brass at Exeter College, having worked
throughout South Africa with the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic
Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra and the Durban City
Orchestra.
David Davies, a former conductor of the Exeter Bach Society, has
worked in church music in the UK and the USA for over 30 years.
Having held the Assistant Director of Music role at Exeter Cathedral until
last year, David now pursues a freelance career as a solo performer,
conductor and writer.
