Bergamo, Montelungo and Colleoni Barracks Location The complex, composed of the two adjacent former barracks Montelungo and Colleoni, is located in the historical centre of Bergamo, within the dense road network which characterizes the lower town. The complex is delimited by Viale Muraine, Via San Giovanni, Vicolo San Giovanni and Via Frizzoni and it forms a compact building structure characterized by a large central courtyard. The area is characterized by historical and artistic buildings and by two large green areas. Bergamo, Montelungo and Colleoni Barracks Description Occupation state Restrictions The Montelungo and Colleoni Barracks were built at the end of the nineteenth century one next to the other, along the perimeter of the roadway system and of the ancient fifteen-century town walls, the Muraine. They are composed of buildings with up to three above-ground levels, each one with an internal courtyard. The buildings are in a mediocre state of conservation and maintenance. Unoccupied (with the exception of a portion of the Colleoni Barracks, occupied by the Carabinieri Corps) Subject to restrictions by the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities. Possible enhancement Enhancement through a functional mix for the preservation of both public and private uses. Urban status Based on the current planning rules and regulations, the building is classified as «Renewal area».
