Dear friends,
Receive our greetings from Karungu. We would also like to appreciate your continued support to
the children and the centre. To you all, we are grateful and we pray to the Almighty God to grant
all of you long life so that you can be at a position to continue assisting the needy children in the
society. Dala Kiye fraternity once again feels happy to share with you the happenings at the
centre during the month of October through our monthly newsletter, ‘Milome’, this being the
October 2011 edition.

Cari amici,
Un saluto da Karungu. Vorremmo ringranziarvi ancora per il vostro continuo supporto ai bambini
e al centro. Siamo grati a tutti e preghiamo l’Onnipotente Dio che vi doni una lunga vita , che vi
permetta di continuare l’assistenza ai nostril bambini. Ancora una volta siamo felici di
condividere con voi gli avvenimenti del centro nel mese di ottobre, attraverso la nostra lettera
mensile ‘MILOME’.

1st October
A group of nursing students from St. Camillus Mission in Tabaka came to the centre and had
some great moments with the children. They brought sodas and sweets to the children. The
visitors also had an opportunity of taking lunch together with the children at the Dining Hall.

Un gruppo di allieve infermiere del St.Camillus Mission di Tabaka, sono venute al centro e hanno
trascorso dei bei momenti con i bambini. Hanno comprato bibite e caramelle per loro.
Le studentesse hanno inoltre avuto l’opportunita’ di pranzare insieme ai bambini.
3rd October
Dala Kiye Program started shelter improvement support in Karungu and Gwassi community. The
intervention seeks to improve the shelters of caregivers who are taking care of orphans and
vulnerable children in the community. The intervention is a joint initiative between Dala Kiye and
Intervita Onlus.
3 ottobre
Al Dala Kiye e’ iniziato il programma di rinnovo di alcune case nella comunita’ di Karungu e
Gwassi. Tale intervento ha lo scopo di migliorare l’assistenza e la cura dei bambini piu’ bisognosi
della comunita’. Questo progetto rientra nel piano di intervento di Intervita.
7th October
Ana Perez Lorente, a volunteer, and Elizabeth Awuor who is a staff at the centre visited a home
of two children that are enrolled at B.L Tezza Complex Primary school. The children are under
the care of their mother who is blind. During the visit, they interacted with the blind lady and
offered her emotional and psychological support. They also educated her on a number of health
issues touching on HIV and AIDS. The lady was very pleased with their visit.
7 Ottobre
Ana Perez Lorente, volontaria, e Elisabeth Awuor,dipendente del centro, hanno fatto visita a
casa di due bambini che sono nel programma del Dala Kiye. Questi bambini vivono con la loro
mamma che e’ cieca. Durante la visita hanno conversato con la signora e le hanno offerto
supporto emozionale e psicologico. Le stesse l’hanno informata per quanto riguarda l”HIV e AIDS.
La signora e’ stata molto contenta di questa visita.
8th October
The children went for a swimming at the lake and were accompanied by Anna Perez Lorente, Fr.
Elphas Kolia and Dala Kiye staffs. The children usually enjoy very much the swimming in the lake.

Lo staff del Dala Kiye, Padre Elphas Kolia e Ana Perez Lorente, hanno accompagnato i bambini a
nuotare al lago. I bambini come al solito si sono molto divertiti.
9th October
Frances Fredricks, a nurse from Rochester, Newyork in USA who is visiting St. Camillus Mission
Hospital as a volunteer nurse for one year, visited the centre and interacted freely with the
children.

Al St. Camillus Mission Hospital e’ arrivata come volontaria per un anno Frances Fredricks,
infermiera da Rochester, Newyork (USA). Ha visitato il centro conoscendo anche i bambini.
13th October
Dala Kiye Program distributed school uniforms to a number of Orphans and Vulnerable Children
from different primary schools in Karungu and Gwassi as part of its education support to
vulnerable children enrolled in 18 primary schools in Karungu at a ceremony that was presided
over by the social workers. The guardians of the children were present to witness the event. The
children, teachers and guardians were very pleased and thanked Dala Kiye for the support.
13 Ottobre
Il programma di sostegno del Dala Kiye ha distribuito le uniformi a bambini orfani e bisognosi
delle 18 scuole primarie di Karungu e Gwassi. La cerimonia e’ stata presieduta dagli assistenti
sociali. I tutori dei bambini erano presenti per testimoniare l’evento e insieme ai bambini e
insegnanti hanno ringraziato il Dala Kiye.
14th October
Passionist Fathers Guiseppe Adobati from Cameri Italy, Guiseppe Martinelli from Bergamo Italy
and Eugenio and Chiara Sala from Cuneo Italy visited the centre. They visitors were taken and
shown round the facility by Fr. Emilio. Later, the visitors had the opportunity of interacting with
the children who received them with a lot of joy and happiness.
14 Ottobre
I Padri Passionisti Giuseppe Adobati da Cameri, Giuseppe Martinelli da Bergamo e i nostri amici
Eugenio e Chiara Sala da Cuneo, hanno visitato il centro accompagnati da P. Emilio. Poi hanno
conosciuto i bambini trascorrendo insieme a loro momenti di gioia.
17th October
Fr. Elphas Kolia presided over prayers during the B.L Tezza Complex Secondary School prayer
day. The prayer day was planned for the form four students who were going to commence their
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) on 18th October 2011. Philip Ochieng
Nyalele from the centre will be among the candidates sitting for the examinations.
17 Ottobre
P. Elphas Kolia ha presieduto alla preghiera alla scuola B.L.Tezza. La preghiera e’ stata condotta
con gli studenti del quarto anno, in preparazione degli esami di maturita’ che iniziano in 18
ottobre. Philip Ochieng Nyalele, del Dala Kiye e’ uno dei candidati.
20th October
This is the day when Kenya as a nation celebrated heroes’ day and so the children did not go to
school. On this particular day, the children hosted their counter parts from Our Lady Of Orore
primary school that is situated in Gwassi and is run by the Marist Brothers. The children played
football and netball together. They later on drank sodas together with Dala Kiye staffs.
20 Ottobre
Oggi in Kenya e’ festa nazionale e si celebra “la giornata degli eroi” e le scuole sono rimaste
chiuse. In questo particolare giorno i bambini hanno ospitato gli studenti della scuola primaria
Our Lady of Orore nei Gwassi gestita dai Frateli Maristi. Insieme hanno giocato a pallone e a
netball, festeggiando con lo staff del Dala Kiye.
