Thank you
Dear Church Family,
Thank you all so much for the bridal shower in March! It was such a lovely day and I was
overwhelmed by how many people shared in celebrating mine and John’s upcoming marriage!
Thanks especially to the ladies of the shower team for working so hard and providing such a nice
afternoon for everyone.
Love, Kasey Rhyne
Thank you for the cards, flowers, and expressions of sympathy at the loss of my
Grandmother Thompson. We are so blessed to have such a loving church family.
Sincerely,
Paige, Steve, Connor, & Sydney Sisk
Thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers, cards, and phone calls during Mother’s
lengthy illness and then her death. Also, a special thanks to the Bereavement Team for the
delicious meal they prepared.

Misplaced or Lost??
Many of you may know that Matt and Brooke Richardson had a beautiful wedding a few
Saturdays ago. What you may not know is the great grief that day caused me.
No, it had nothing to do with the couple. It had everything to do with my keys. The wedding
was at 5:30 so I had every intention of leaving the house with Amanda at 4:20 so I could be at
the church an hour early. I always like to get to the church with plenty of time so the bride and
groom (and the wedding director) don’t have to fret over whether the preacher will show, and
so I can make sure to take care of any incidental issues that arise the day of the wedding.
I began to look frantically but could not find them. Jan was out of town. I looked again and put
Amanda to searching, but we couldn’t find them anywhere. The clock was ticking and I was
sweating; I realized I needed someone to take me to the church. I began to call and text folks
desperately. I couldn’t get a single member of First Baptist that lived in Deerfield at that
moment! It’s now almost 5:00, the wedding is in 30 minutes, and I have no way to the church.
As I prepared to hit the panic button, Scott Griffin texted me to ask if I was in my office and if I
needed him to bring me the wireless microphone for the wedding. I texted back: 911 Emergency.
Call me immediately. Scott did. He only chuckled a little at my predicament (well, at least to my
face!), and he came and gave us a ride. I made it to the church at about 5:15 and only caused a
slight panic for the groom. (We told the bride after the lovely service!)
“So you lost your keys?” was the refrain I heard on Sunday morning from several folks.
“No,” I said with a smile, “I didn’t lose my keys; I misplaced my keys. They are in my house
somewhere. I just don’t know where.”
Misplaced or lost. Which is it? At the same time, does it matter? When we feel out of place in
life or lost, it does not matter which it is; it matters that we have a way out. More specifically, it
matters in whom we trust to be the Way! Indeed, we have a Savior that will love us through such
moments. We have a Savior who reminds us that He is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
My experience that Saturday reminded me that we have a Savior who’s always with us. It also
reminded me of the power of the Christian family. My keys may have been lost, but I was not. I
have a Savior, and I have a Christian brother there with me. At the end of the day, that was all I
needed to find my way.
Grace and peace, Kendell Cameron
P.S. For those wondering, I found my keys the next day behind a trash can while cleaning the
house. Jan’s dictum: When you can’t find something, start cleaning!
C HURCH L IFE
I was continually checking in with Amanda to make sure she would finish her baking project in
time for us to go. I several times reminded her of our departure time. Sure enough, the
appointed time came, and she was ready. I gathered my things and was going out the door when
I realized I couldn’t find my keys – to the house, the car, or the church!
