The French oak-aged 2005 Boscarelli (100% Merlot) is a sensual wine endowed with a
generous expression of sweet plums, baking spices and minerals. It is a pleasing, supple red
to enjoy over the next decade or so. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020.
This is an excellent set of releases from Boscarelli, a reference point producer for fine Vino
Nobile. Winemaking is overseen by talented consulting oenologist Maurizio Castelli.
2004 Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

Black cherries, mint and sweet toasted oak emerge from the beautifully-delineated, layered
2004 Vino Nobile di Monteplulciano. This sweet, pure offering boasts awesome clarity and
focus, with finessed tannins and terrific overall balance. A blend of 80% Sangiovese with the
addition of Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it spent 24 months in oak barrels of
various sizes. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.

The 2005 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is full of energy and vibrancy. This polished, taut wine
flows from the glass with attractive dark cherries framed by firm, yet well-integrated tannins on
a medium-bodied frame. It should drink beautifully over the next few years. A blend of 80%
Sangiovese with the addition of Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it spent 24 months
in oak barrels of various sizes. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017.

The single-vineyard 2004 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Nocio dei Boscarelli adds 15% Merlot
to the indigenous Sangiovese and Mammolo. It is bigger, rounder and sweeter than the
regular Vino Nobile bottling, with superb volume and depth in its ripe, dark fruit, smoke and
earthiness. It offers an engaging, enveloping personality but not appreciably more complexity
than the straight Vino Nobile. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2019.
