Pesaro, "city of motors" in the present and in the past
This territory that, for its undulating shape made of multiple ups and downs, has been the testing ground of
famous centaurs (from Tonino Benelli, Dorino Serafini, , Paolo Campanelli , Silvio Grassetti , Eugenio Lazzarini
to Valentino Rossi) and where the company has headquarters both Benelli QJ, which produces motorcycles
distributed worldwide, both Officine Benelli, a dynamic center of initiatives, exhibitions and documentation,
created to keep alive the memory of a legendary brand.
In September will be celebrated the centenary of the most famous motorcycling house of Pesaro. In occasion
of the centenary (1911-2011) in the Commune of Pesaro - the city which is the birth place of the renowned
composer Gioachino Rossini and the favourite destination of many tourists for its white sand and its blue seathe "Registro Storico Benelli", the "Motoclub Pesaro T. Benelli" and Benelli QJ promote a rich program of
initiatives during the "Benelli Week" from September 12th to 18th. Seven days of appointments for the
impassions of the " Little Lion House". There are a lot of activities in the program.
Every day, from Monday 12th to Thursday 15th, will be organized motorcycles excursions (leaving at 9.30 a.m.
from the "Officine Benelli", lunch included in the trip, return at 4.30 p.m. and visit at "Officine Benelli"). "On the
way of the Champions": 10 routes from the Adriatic Sea across the Marche's soft hills to the Appennino's
mountains, presented in the motorcyclist guide "Pesaro è in moto" (consultable on www.turismopesaro.it page
"città dei motori"), realized by Pesaro Town Hall in collaboration with "Officine Benelli". The Moto club, for the
occasion, will offer the possibility to rent historical motorcycles.
On Friday 16th at 10.00 a.m. the "Benelli QJ open day" propose guided visits inside the productive department
of the "Benelli QJ" (Fornace Vecchia st., Pesaro) and then all on the motorbikes following the itinerary
"Discovering the Caputes", hilly route that allows to admire the moving landscape, as the beautiful Urbino and
the Montefeltro, returning to Pesaro at 7.00 p.m.
Nor just motorcycles tours, but also convivial nights.
On Tuesday 13th at 9.00 p.m.at Palazzo Montani Antaldi's Auditorium- kindly granted by "Cassa di Risparmio di
Pesaro" Foundation (73, Passeri st.)-will take place the "Benelli Talk Show".
The Benellis, the workmen, the technicians, the pilots, the concessionaires and all the people who had been
protagonists of the "BenelliHistory", will speak with Massimo Fiorentino, editor of the "Motoitalia" magazine of

the FMI (Italian Motorcycles Federation).
On Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th at 9.00 p.m., in the "Ospitality Benelli" area in the covered
place of the "Centro direzionale Benelli", "the City of motors meets the City of music": musical nights with free
entry. On Saturday 17th in p.le della Libertà, with the collaboration of all moto clubs of the district of Pesaro
(meeting at 9.00 a.m.), the appointment is for motorcycles of all the marks, with a touristic tour in the morning
and meeting in p.le della Libertà in the afternoon. From 5.00 p.m. music and, come to a triumphant end, at 7.00
p.m., also music with the Rombo di Tuono’s sound: the Benelli's competitors motorcycles, protagonists of
many world-wide contests, drove by the pilots Grassetti, Pasolini, Carruthers and Saarinen in the 60s and 70s,
will emit the unmistakable roar of the motorbike's of Pesaro. Al last on Sunday 18th, at 9.00 a.m. at "officine
Benelli" in Mameli st, "Parata Benelli", reserved for Benelli Moto and MotoBi, on Pesaro's hills with the best
conclusion on Panoramica st,. of San Bartolo Hill and lunch at Villa
Caprile. The motorist vocation of Pesaro is not only joined to the name of Benelli, there are many other marks
from Pesaro like Molaroni (first motorcycles industry in Pesaro), Ape, Di Pietro, Crevimbar, MotoBi (more than
1.600 victories in sport contests in the 50s and in the 60s), Morbidelli (4 times world champion) and TM (leader
in off-road motorbikes) that in 2007 crossed the goal of thirty years of activity and manifold worldwide
successes in motocross and supermoto categories.
In the motorcycles history of Pesaro appear also protagonists competitive motorbikes that obtained successes
on the track all over the world: MBA, Transama, Ringhini, Mancini, Piovaticci, Semprucci, Sanvenero.
Various are the sport teams from Pesaro which participated at the world championship and the Ongetta team of
Giancarlo Cecchini (veteran of moto world championship with more than 50 years of attendances) is engaged
in the world motorcycles championship nowadays too. Still in Pesaro we find the Morbidelli Museum (among
the most important european Museums), which exposes more than 350 vintage motorcycles of every marks.
Just to underline his nature of "city of motors", Pesaro takes part to the Association "city of motors" promoted by
Anci, born in 2008, that join together the Communes of the motorcyclist "Made in Italy" intended in a more large
sense (cars, scooters, motorcycles, aeronautical, railway and naval motoristic cities that give hospitality to
circuits, museums and cultural institutions).

ARRIVE AT PESARO:
It is situated in Marche on the Adriatic coast, in the boundary line with Emilia Romagna. The connections are very useful and
rapid, whether from the North or the South of Italy. The A14 motor-way is at gate of the city, the statale Adriatica st. cross it, the
railway station is very close to the center and to the sea side, and is the most important of the district. The Falconara’s and
Rimini Airports are a few kilometers far. Consult the interactive map on Google maps.
