Formazione: Laureata in Scienze Ambientali all’Università degli Studi di Milano nel 1998 con
una tesi sul chimismo dei laghi alpini d’alta quota.
Dottore di ricerca in Ecologia nel 2003 (Dottorato conseguito presso l’Università degli Studi di
Parma con una tesi dal titolo “Long-term trends in the chemistry of surface waters in alpine and
subalpine areas: the role of atmospheric deposition and climate change”).
Dal 2003 ricercatrice presso l'Istituto per lo Studio degli Ecosistemi del CNR di Verbania Pallanza.
Esperienza: si occupa di eutrofizzazione dei laghi e tecniche di risanamento; apporti atmosferici
di zolfo e azoto; acidificazione ed arricchimento in azoto delle acque superficiali, con particolare
riferimento a laghi alpini e corsi d’acqua alpini e subalpini. Tra le sue competenze specifiche vi
sono: campionamento e analisi di acque superficiali e meteoriche, con particolare riferimento alle
metodiche per l’analisi dei composti dell’azoto e del carbonio organico; elaborazione ed analisi
statistica di dati chimici e meteo-climatici (tecniche di analisi multivariata, analisi delle serie
temporali); utilizzo di modelli dinamici per lo studio dell’evoluzione a lungo termine della chimica
delle acque superficiali.
La sua attività si svolge nel contesto di programmi di ricerca a carattere nazionale e internazionale,
tra cui:

É rappresentante italiano della Task Force del Programma UN-ECE ICP-WATERS (“International
Co-operative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Acidification of Rivers and Lakes”).
È autrice di 30 pubblicazioni su Riviste ISI e 5 su riviste nazionali, oltre che di numerosi contributi
in atti di convegni, report e testi a carattere divulgativo.

Education: Master Degree in Environmental Sciences (5 years) at the University of Milan, Italy
PhD in Ecology at the University of Parma, Italy. Thesis topic: Long-term trends in the chemistry
of surface waters in alpine and subalpine areas: the role of atmospheric deposition and climate
change.
Since 2003, researcher at the Institute of Ecosystem Study of the National Research Council.
Expertise: lake eutrophication and restoration measures. Atmospheric input of sulphur and
nitrogen compounds to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Acidification of surface waters, with
particular emphasis on alpine lakes. Nitrogen enrichment of surface waters. Critical loads of
acidity, and nutrient nitrogen. Dynamic modelling of acidification processes. Impact of climate
change on acidification, eutrophication and N dynamics in aquatic ecosystems. Present activities:
Sampling and analysis (inorganic chemistry) of surface water and atmospheric deposition; data
elaboration, statistical analysis, focusing on the evaluation of long-term trends of chemical and
climatic data; use of dynamic models to reconstruct and predict surface water chemistry in relation
to atmospheric deposition and climate change.
Involved in several national and international research projects:
