The institue is part of the “Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche” (CNR). Condensed matter ab–initio theory. Theory modeling and applications. 1 The main goal of the FLASH-IT project is to describe pump and probe experiments. In particular the development of a first–principles code (Yambo) which describes the ultra–fast electrons dynamics within the out–of–equilibrium Green functions framework also including the spin-orbit interaction. The simulation are directly compare with the experimental measurements from the Politecnico di Milano on bulk Silion and Molibdenum disulfide. 2 Extended systems, molecules and nano–structures. In particular I’m interested in the physics of systems with different dimensions, ranging from 3D semi–conductors, to 2D layered materials, such as MoS2, to 1D systems such as carbon nano-tubes. A first– principles approach is able to capture, for example, how the electronic screening change in different dimensions. Also in the past I worked on the effect of magnetic field in particular geometries, such as the Aharonov–Boh effect in carbon nano–tubes. 3 Development of new approaches for the description of absorption spectra within the many–body perturbation theory framework. In particular for the absorption of polarized light connected to magneto–optical effects, such as the Kerr effect. December 2010 – May 2013. The research project was focused on the physics of F e doped ZrO2 (F e:ZrO2 ), a dilute magnetic oxide. My role was to investigate the atomic and magnetic properties of F e:ZrO2 in close collaboration with the experimental activity of the lab. 2 I also had an active role in the experimental activity in the OSEA project. After a 6 months stage on X–Ray photo–emission, I took care of the XPS measurement of the samples grown by atomic layer deposition, both for the core–levels and the valence electrons. 3 Nano –Bio Spectroscopy group, San Sebastian (Spain), visiting PhD. April 2010 – July 2010 4 Universitá di Roma Tor Vergata, visiting PhD. February 2009 – July 2009 (CNISM grant) 5 Universitè Chatolique de Louvain (Belgium), Master thesis student.
