he city of Fermo is honoured to play host
to the eighth edition of the International
“Days of Percussion” Festival.
An important appointment for the city which cannot be missed and we are ready to receive, with our
usual affection and warm welcome, the very numerous participants from 26 countries who are ready
to perform for the International Competition.
An event which, thanks to the Competition and
quality of the world-level artists and the importance of the programme, has succeeded in obtaining
unique attention in just a few years.
Therefore, I direct my warmest welcome to the musicians, real talented people who come to Fermo to measure themselves against one another in a difficult competition.
The Competition has demolished all frontiers and, as a well-established custom in these years,
the one hundred and eighty participants will know how to strike up friendships among themselves
although they speak different languages and belong to different cultures: only one language, only
one passion is the underlying theme which unites them: Music, for which they nurture a passion
and a love which exalts them and distinguishes them and which emphasizes their great abilities
and artistic qualities, thanks to which I am certain they will become excellent professionals.
Therefore, I direct a greeting and thanks to the organizers for their work, which is always careful and
thorough, and in particular my deep-felt expressions of praise to the Artistic Director, M° Antonio
Santangelo.

a città di Fermo è onorata di ospitare l’ottava edizione del Festival Internazionale
“Giornate della Percussione”.
Un grande appuntamento per la città a cui non si puo’ mancare e siamo pronti ad accogliere, con
l’affetto di sempre e con un caloroso benvenuto, i numerosissimi partecipanti provenienti da 26
Paesi pronti ad esibirsi per il Concorso Internazionale.
Un evento che, grazie alla Competizione e alla qualità degli artisti di livello mondiale e per lo spessore del programma, è riuscito ad ottenere, in pochi anni, un’attenzione singolare.
Rivolgo quindi il mio piu’ caloroso benvenuto ai musicisti, veri talenti che giungono a Fermo per
cimentarsi in una difficile competizione.
Il Concorso ha abbattuto ogni confine e, come consuetudine consolidata in questi anni, i centoottanta partecipanti sapranno stringere amicizia tra loro pur parlando lingue diverse e pur appartenendo a culture dissimili: una sola lingua, una sola passione è il filo conduttore che li accomuna:
la Musica per la quale, nutrono una passione ed un
amore che li esalta e li contraddistingue e mette in
luce le grandi capacità e le qualità artistiche, grazie
alle quali sono certo, diventeranno eccellenti professionisti.
Rivolgo quindi un saluto ed un ringraziamento al
lavoro sempre attento e rigoroso degli organizzatori ed in particolare le mie piu’ vive espressioni
di elogio al Direttore Artistico M°Antonio Santangelo.

nche quest’anno si accendono i riflettori sul Festival Internazionale “Giornate della Percussione” e sulla Competizione italiana riconosciuta oggi come una delle più importanti al Mondo, non solo per l’altissimo numero
di partecipanti, ma anche per la sua complessità organizzativa; basti pensare al numero dei Docenti (22) che formano le 6
Giurie. Questa 8.a edizione vede la partecipazione di 26 Paesi Europei, Asiatici e Americani con un numero di 180 iscritti:
record per una competizione di percussionisti solisti!

Tante le difficoltà di questi anni, ma la mia tenacia non ha permesso agli eventi negativi di avere la meglio su questa
iniziativa perché è troppo grande l’amore che ho per questi strumenti ed altrettanto grande il rispetto verso tanti giovani
talenti che meritano di essere ascoltati, valutati e considerati dai grandi Artisti che ogni anno mi onorano della loro presenza e della loro “preziosa” amicizia.

La novità di quest’anno è il cambiamento della sede della manifestazione che si terrà nello splendido Centro “Villa Nazareth” alle porte di Fermo e mi preme ringraziare i responsabili nelle persone di Don Enrico Brancozzi e Rosario Chinnici
per questa opportunità e ancora Don Sandro Salvucci, Rettore del Seminario Arcivescovile, per la disponibilità del meraviglioso Auditorium del Seminario, che ospiterà la chiusura della manifestazione il 12 settembre.

There have been many difficulties in these years, but my tenacity has not allowed the negative events to get the better
of this initiative because my love for these instruments is too great and just as great is my respect for so many talented
young people who deserve to be listened to, assessed and considered by the great Artists who, every year, honour me
with their presence and their “precious” friendship.

The great Names of the sector, too, have understood very well the importance of the event so much so that they back me
considerably and for this I thank them again.
This year’s novelty is the change in the event’s centre which will take place in the splendid “Villa Nazareth” Centre at the
gates of Fermo and I am anxious to thank the people in charge, that is, Don Enrico Brancozzi and Rosario Chinnici, for
this opportunity and then Don Sandro Salvucci, the Rector of the Archiepiscopal Seminary, for putting the marvellous
Seminary Auditorium at our disposal, which will host the conclusion of the event.

I am very proud to have obtained in Italy, because of the importance of this project, the Support of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, the Ministry of Turism, the Minister of Youth and the Italian Authors and Publishers Association of Rome.
I thank the City of Fermo represented by the town mayor, Dr. Saturnino Di Ruscio, who has been backing me for years and
believes in the value of this event, even for the image of the City itself in the World and for the great tourist influx which
assails it every year in the month of September.
