laghi alpini che caratterizzano il Sud della Nuova Zelanda. Acque purissime,
pascoli incontaminati, aria libera da ogni inquinamento, fanno sì che le pecore
sviluppino una fibra particolarmente bianca e dalle speciali caratteristiche.

Cariaggi, always searching for excellence in the luxury yarn sector, has made
an agreement with the New Zealand Merino Company to purchase Zque ™
certified merino wool for which the company from the Marche region of Italy
has become official representative in the “Alpine Lakes” programme. The merino
wool selected by the company comes from sheep that live around the Alpine
lakes that are a feature of southern New Zealand. The purest water, unspoilt
pastures and unpolluted air ensure that the sheep produce a fibre with special
characteristics that is particularly white.
The New Zealand Merino Company’s Zque™ trademark guarantees that the
wool purchased directly from New Zealand producers has all the technical and
ethical properties that make it unique in the world.

Cariaggi has identified merino wool produced in New Zealand as being
extremely fine and with an amazing elongation, making it suitable for creating
prized new yarns. Although very different in terms of culture and tradition, the
two companies have the same ethical and social approach to their surrounding
environment and the same attention to high quality and they also lie on the same
parallel: on the 44th parallel North, Montefeltro, the Cariaggi’s headquarters,
on the 44th parallel South, the New Zealand Alps and the Merino sheep farms.

Pukaki, Tekapo, Ohau, sono tra i principali laghi del Sud della Nuova Zelanda,
situati alle pendici delle montagne incontaminate su cui pascolano le pecore
Merino che grazie alle particolari condizioni dell’ambiente formano una fibra
purissima.
Gli allevamenti da cui Cariaggi acquista la lana merino sono situati tra questi tre
laghi ed è proprio per ricordare l’origine di questa pregiata lana che Cariaggi
ha deciso di attribuire i loro nomi ai primi tre filati realizzati con lana 100%
New Zealand Merino.
Pukaki, Tekapo and Ohau, are some of the largest lakes on New Zealand’s South
Island, situated in the unspoilt mountain range where the Merino sheep graze,
which produce a very pure fibre thanks to the special environmental conditions.
The farms from which Cariaggi obtains its merino wool are located around these
three lakes and it is precisely as a reminder of the origin of this prized wool that
Cariaggi has decided to call its first three yarns made with 100% New Zealand
Merino wool after these lakes.
