Le “furlane”sono un tipico esempio di oggetto che contiene storia, cultura e tradizione e allo stesso
tempo è proiettato nel futuro. Esse infatti nascono dalla cultura contadina delle campagne friulane, alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale. La grande capacità di sfruttare al meglio tutto ciò
che è disponibile, nata dal profondo rapporto tra uomo e natura che si vive nelle terre coltivate
del nordest, si mescola alla sapiente e già avanzatissima cultura del riciclo, che parla oggi al nostro
mondo assillato da grandi problemi ecologici. I vecchi pneumatici delle biciclette sono usati
per fare la suola, impermeabile e resistente; le tele dei sacchi di juta, che provengono
dal trasporto delle sementi e granaglie, vengono trasformati in efficaci imbottiture; le
stoffe, addirittura gli stracci di risulta, provenienti da vecchi vestiti, diventano le tomaie. Il basso costo di questa pantofola la rende accessibile a tutti al posto delle irraggiungibili scarpe
in cuoio, la sua delicatezza e particolarità presto divengono un pregio, trasformando necessità in
virtù. Si diffondono rapidamente, grazie all’intuito di alcuni friulani, anche a Venezia, dove i Gondolieri le usano trovandole perfette, con quella suola in gomma, per non rovinare la vernice delle
gondole. Gruppi di donne friulane, fiere contadine ma anche infaticabil venditrici, attraversano con
le loro ceste in vimini a tracolla, campi e calli della città lagunare, per proporre le loro pantofole.
Ed è proprio il Comune di Venezia che assegna in concessione ad un friulano, un posto
per aprire la prima bancarella, ai piedi del Ponte di Rialto. Ancor’oggi, a pochi metri dal
maestoso ponte, si possono trovare le vecchie “furlane”fatte alla maniera tradizionale, insieme alle
nuove generazioni di pantofole come ad esempio le”veneziane” e le“sabot”, ispirate ai fasti settecenteschi della Serenissima, impreziosite con velluto o con variopinte sete orientali, tutte rigorosamente cucite a mano. Ma per chi le vuole uniche è possibile portare o spedire il proprio
tessuto: verrano fatte su misura. Utilizzando quella mestria artigiana che si tramanda da
generazioni ed è già nel futuro.
Furlane Slippers are a typical example of an object that contains history, culture and tradition and at the same time a sense of the contemporary. Their origin come from the
peasant culture of the Friuli Venezia Giulia countryside at the end of World War II.The great capacity to exploit all that is available from the environment, arising from the deep
relationship between man and nature that existed in the farmlands of northeast Italy, mixes with the already advanced culture of recycling, that speaks today to our world beset by
major environmental problems. Old bicycle tires are used to make the sole, which is waterproof and durable; jute canvas bags, which come from the transport of seeds, are transformed into effective padding and fabrics, even the rags from old clothes, become uppers for the slippers. At that time the low cost of these slipper made it accessible to everybody as
opposed to expensive leather shoes.As well as being affordable, the slippers’delicacy and uniqueness turned them into a product that is still aesthetically pleasing as well as practical.
Thanks to the inventiveness of the peasants of Friuli, the success of these slippers/shoes spread rapidly, reaching Venice, where the gondoliers found them perfect, as the shoes’rubber
soles prevented the paint of their gondolas being ruined. Groups of Friulian women, proud countrywomen but also tireless sellers, carried their wicker baskets through Venetian
“calli & campielli”(streets and squares), to sell their slippers.And it is the City of Venice which granted concessions to a Friulian for a place to open the first stand at the foot of the
Rialto Bridge to sell its slippers. Even today, a few meters from the magnificent bridge, you can find the old “Furlane”made in the traditional way together with new generations
of slippers, such as the “Venetian”and “Sabot”.These latest two designs were inspired by the glories of eighteenth-century Venice, embellished with velvet or with colorful oriental
silks, but strictly hand sewn. And for those who want them exclusively, just bring or send your own fabric: they will be made to measure, always using the craftsmanship handed
down from generation to generation.

1. RAMBAUD
E’ il modello più antico e più classico della nostra collezione.
Interamente confezionato con materiale riciclato, stracci di cotone per l’interno, iuta e cartone per la suola che è rivestita con
pneumatici di bicicletta usata. Camicie reciclate per la fodera
della tomai. // This model is the oldest and most classic of our
collection. Entirely made with recycled material, cotton rags for
the interior, Jute and cardboard for the sole that is covered with
bicycle tyres. 100% cotton velvet for the upper.
2. SHAW
E’ il modello più antico e più classico della nostra collezione
proposta nella versione aperta. Confezionato con materiale riciclato, stracci di cotone per l’interno, iuta e cotone per la suola
che è rivestita con pneumatici di bicicletta usata.Velluto di cotone al 100% per la tomaia. // This model is the oldest and most

Naturale evoluzione della vecchia friulana (Rambaud),
anch’essa cucita a mano, l’unica differenza è nell’imbottitura

4. MODIGLIANI
Rappresenta un naturale sviluppo della tradizionale friulana
(Breton),maggiormente curata dal punto di vista estetico nella
ricchezza dei particolari.Vengono eliminati i contrasti cromatici. // Represents a natural development of the traditional Friuliana (Breton), with more aesthetic care and richness of details.
Chromatic contrasts are eliminated.
5. SALOME’
Rappresenta una variante del modello Breton. Le bordature
sono di colore diverso rispetto al tessuto della tomaia. // This is

the fabric of the upper.
6.WILDE
Modello che sintetizza la fusione dell’artigianalità friulana con
lo stile settecentesco della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia. //

7. DANDY
Una Wilde aperta dal design più slanciato. // An open Wilde,
with a sleeker design.

Lavorazione artigianale, esterno interamente rivestito di seta,
sottopiede in tessuto pregiato. // Handcrafted, exterior entirely

9. BRUMMAEL

Dalla commistione di tre modelli diversi, nasce Grace. L’autentico punto d’arrivo della ricerca formale della pantofola/calzatura in tessuto. // From the mixture of three different models,

ambaud è un ponte gettato tra passato e futuro. Rappresenta sicuramente
la“classica ciabatta friulana” ma corrisponte anche ad un tipo di lavorazione assolutamente eco compatibile. Una lavorazione antica che in tempo di
crisi... sta affaciandosi all’orizzonte reclamando tutta la sua modernità. RAMBAUD
sono interamente confezionata con materiale riciclato, vecchie camice per l’interno,
iuta e cartone per la suola che è rivestita con pneumatici di bicicletta usata. Velluto
di cotone al 100% per la tomai.Tantissimi colori, un’infinità di geometrie nella parte
interna della ciabatte, una possibilità infinita di personalizzazione. Materiali che ritrovano una nuova vita e un nuovo utilizzo grazie al ripensamento della loro funzione.
Rambaud is the bridge between the past and the future. It absolutely represents the “classical Friulana slipper” but it also corresponds to an environmentally friendly type of
process. An antique workmanship that in these times of crisis emerges and claims all its
modernity. Rambaud are entirely created from recycled materials, old shirts for the interior, jute and cardboard for the sole that is covered by bicycles tyres. 100% cotton velvet
for the upper. Many colors, infinite geometries in the interior of the slippers, the huge
possibilities for customizing. Materials that find new life and a new function just by
re-inventing their use.

iedàterre ha creato una variante originale della“classica furlana in velluto
di cotone”. Una Rambaud ideale per i mesi estivi, da abbinare con un abbigliamento femminile o maschile, di tessuto di lino. L’aspetto“stropicciato”tipico di questo tessuto, conferisce al prodotto un aspetto vagamente bohemien.
Piedàterre has created a fanciful version of the “classical furlana in cotton velvet”. A
Rambaud is perfect for the summer months, matching both ladies and men’s outfits in linen fabric. The “washed out” effect is typical of this fabric, giving the product a vaguely
bohemian look.

il prodotti divenga ancora più unico ed irripetibile. Questa volta la richiesta era di
realizzare una collezione privata per un evento legato al mondo della nautica, che si
ispirasse ai colori identificativi delle quattro repubbliche marinare. La definizione è
in genere riferita in particolare alle quattro città italiane i cui stemmi sono riportati
nella bandiera della Marina Militare: Amalfi, Genova, Pisa e Venezia. Una privatecollection in“qadricromia”di lino.
The boutique has always manufactured special projects commissioned by its loyal cu-

ur rappresentando il naturale sviluppo della tradizionale friulana (Breton), il modello Modigliani non rinuncia all’artigianalità tipica di tutta
la collezione Piedàterre, ma aggiunge una maggiore ricchezza di particolari dal punto di vista estetico. La Modigliani diviene una ciabatta duttile, adatta ad un utilizzo quotidiano grazie anche all’imbottitura della suola che la rende
estremamente confortevole.
Il modello prende i nome da Amedeo Clemente Modigliani pittore e scultore italiano, noto anche con i soprannomi di Modì. Celebre per i suoi ritratti femminili
caratterizzati da volti stilizzati e colli affusolati.
Though representing the natural development of the traditional Friulana (Breton), the
model Modigliani does not give up the craftsmanship typical of the whole Pied à Terre
collection, but it adds a greater richness of details from the aesthetic point of view. The
Modigliani becomes a flexible slipper, suitable for everyday use thanks to the padding of
the sole that makes it extremely comfortable. The model is named after Amedeo Clemente
Modigliani Italian painter and sculptor, also known by the nickname Modi, famous for
his female portraits characterized by stylized faces and tapered necks.
