CARLO SILIOTTO
COMPOSER
Carlo Siliotto is a Golden Globe nominated composer who was born in Rome. He studied guitar and violin
prior to studying composition at the Conservatory of Frosinone, under the guidance of Meastro Daniele
Paris. He was a founding member of the group "Canzoniere del Lazio" for which he adapted both pop and
traditional Italian music, creating a new sound out of tradition, mixing languages and instruments of rock,
jazz and classical music with the elements of ethnic music, an area in which he is considered an expert.
Carlo has worked as a composer, orchestrator, violinist and producer with many Italian artists including
Santo e Zappa, Domenico Modugno, Francesco de Gregori and Enzo Gragnaniello. He has also
composed for symphonic orchestra (Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte Montepulciano) and managed ancient
music for several ensembles.
Carlo has composed music for over 70 films with such directors as Carlo Carlei (Fluke, the Flight of the
Innocent) Maurizio Nichetti (Honolulu Baby, Palla di neve, L'una e l'altra) and Ricky Tognazzi (Tutta colpa
della musica, The Father and the Foreigner).
In 2013, Carlo collaborated with Director/Writer Cherien Dabis to create the score for her Sundance
feature, May In The Summer. In the same year, he wrote the score for Eugenio Derbez's Instructions Not
Included, which is the fourth-highest grossing foreign language film to date, grossing $10.4 millions in its
opening weekend alone. Carlo and Derbez formerly worked together on award-winning film Under the
Same Moon.
Carlo was nominated for his score to Nomad: The Warrior at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards.
