Se Volunteers Needed to Decorate & Clean Church Palm Sunday after the 11:30 Mass – meet in front of the altar to move costumes – 10 to 15 minutes needed. A team of volunteers will be needed on Good Friday for two hours to help clean and prepare the church for the Easter Vigil. Volunteers are requested to meet in the church at the front of the altar at 6:30pm. WHY ARE THE STATUES VEILED? It is customary to veil devotional images and crosses from the 5th Sunday of Lent until the Easter Vigil. This ancient custom has much to commend in it terms of religious psychology, because it helps us to concentrate on the great essentials of Christ's work of Redemption. Devotional images will remain veiled until the Easter Vigil. The Cross will be solemnly unveiled during the liturgy of Good Friday. DAY OF CONFESSION To return to the Lord with integrity, we benefit greatly from celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This year, we will provide the opportunity for all Catholics to avail themselves of this sacrament. Preparation for and the celebration of Confession allows us to set aside disruptive ways, to be renewed in heart and spirit, to be reconciled with our God who abounds with gracious, gentle tenderness. On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, we will be having a Day of Confessions throughout the Archdiocese. Confessions at our parish will be available from 8:45 – 11:30 am, 1 – 3 pm, 6 - 7 pm. NB If we have a funeral, the morning times will be disrupted. We realize as a Church that Jesus is the bread of life: ”Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (John 6.51) By sharing in the upkeep of the Holy Land and the mission of the Custody, we give witness to commit our life to help others; the lives of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. It is the assurance of a true friendship for LIFE. By giving to the Holy Land, we strengthen our bond of friendship with our fellow Christians who live in the land of Jesus. We support the Christians who live there, eat there and who are struggling and live in hope. This word of the Gospel is an affirmation of the One who loved to the end. Our donation is a step forward towards the awareness of others and an invitation to change our relationship with the Living.
