9:00 am: departure for Fossacesia and visit to San
Giovanni in Venere, a great example of Romanesque
architecture that stands on a hill where you can enjoy a
breathtaking view.
The reference to Venus comes from a tradition that
locates a pagan temple dedicated to Venus on this site.
Another reference to Venus is the fact that the Abbey is
situated on the so-called Fountain of Venus, a Roman
fountain where, according to a pagan tradition lasted
until the mid-twentieth century, women who wanted to
have a child had to collect water flowing from this source.
Along the beautiful Costa Trabocchi, you will reach
Ortona, where you can visit the Aragonese Castle, built
in the 15th century on a cliff overlooking the sea; the
Cathedral of St. Thomas the Apostle, a great tourist
destination where there are the relics of the Apostle
Thomas.
Do not miss the F.P. Tosti Theater, the Convent of St. Anne
in which there is the Museum of the Battle of Ortona. After
a short walk on the Orientale,free lunch and departure.

Arrivo in B&B e drink di benvenuto con degustazione
presso la Cantina Vigneti Radica.Visita del vigneto
e scoperta dei processi di produzione del vino.
(pernottamento in una delle strutture convenzionate).
Cena libera presso gli stand allestiti per la
manifestazione in piazza.
Sabato 20 luglio
Prima colazione in B&B.
Ore 9:00 partenza per Bucchianico e visita del
Museo dell’Olio in cui all’interno sorgeva un antico
frantoio del ‘700. I visitatori saranno guidati attraverso
una degustazione, che consentirà di scoprire il tipo di
produzione, la modalità per riconoscere i difetti degli
oli, gli abbinamenti con gli alimenti.
Ore 11:00 partenza per Crecchio. Visita del borgo
e del Castello Ducale, che attualmente ospita il Museo
dell’Abruzzo bizantino e medievale.
Ore 13:00 Rientro a Tollo e pranzo in un ristorante tipico.
Ore 15:00 Visita della Cantina Tollo. Visita del
vigneto e scoperta dei processi di produzione del vino,
degustazione.
Ore 17:00 Laboratorio di cucina tipica in un ristorante
locale. Rientro in B&B.
Cena libera presso gli stand in piazza.
Domenica 21 luglio
• Ore 9:00 partenza per Fossacesia e visita dell’Abbazia San
Giovanni in Venere, splendido esempio di romanico che si
erge su un promontorio da cui si gode una vista mozzafiato.
Il riferimento a Venere deriva da una tradizione che
individua un tempio pagano sul luogo dell’attuale chiesa
dedicato a Venere Conciliatrice.
L’altro riferimento a Venere, è dato dal fatto che sotto
l’Abbazia è ubicata la cosiddetta Fonte di Venere, fontana
romana dove secondo una tradizione paganeggiante
sussistente fino alla metà del Novecento, le donne che
desideravano concepire un figlio si recavano ad attingere
l’acqua sgorgante dalla stessa. Percorrendo la splendida
Costa dei Trabocchi, si raggiunge Ortona, dove sarà
possibile visitare il Castello Aragonese, edificato nel
XV secolo, costruito su uno sperone a picco sul mare; la
Cattedrale di San Tommaso Apostolo, grande meta turistica
contenente all’interno le reliquie dell’Apostolo Tommaso.
Da non perdere il Teatro, l’ex Convento di Sant’Anna nel
quale si trova il Museo della Battaglia di Ortona. Dopo una
breve passeggiata sull’Orientale, pranzo libero e partenza.

BACCANALI” PROGRAM 3 days | 2 nights*
Bacchus, god of wine and grape harvest,
was honored with the cult of Bacchanalia, a
propitiatory festival dated back to ancient Rome.
The bacchanalia involved more populations of
the same territory that met for several days in a
symbolic place.
July 19 – Friday:
Arrival at the B&B.
Welcome drink with wine tasting at the Winery
Vigneti Radica. Visit to the vineyard to discover the
process of wine production.
Free dinner at the stands set up for the event in the
village square. Overnight in B&B
July 20 - Saturday
Breakfast in the B&B.
9:00 am: departure for Bucchianico and visit the Oil
Museum, built on a 18th century oil.
Guided oil tasting, so as to understand the process of
oil production, how to recognize the oil defects and
pairings with food.
11:00 am: departure for Crecchio. Visit to the village
and Ducal Palace, which hosts the Museum of the
Byzantine and Medieval Abruzzi.
1:00pm:Return to Tollo and lunch in a typical restaurant.
3:00 pm: Visit to the Cantina Tollo. Visit to the
vineyard to learn the process of wine production.
Tasting of the local wines.
5:00 pm: Tipical kitchen workshop in a local restaurant.
Return to the B&B.
Free dinner at the stands set up for the event in the
