RAFT polymerization in flow - Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche
Università degli Studi di Padova Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche Lunedì 16 settembre 2013 alle ore 15 presso l’Aula F del Centro Interchimico via Marzolo 1 John Tsanaktsidis CSIRO - Melbourne Materials Science & Engineering terrà un seminario dal titolo: RAFT in flow Continuous flow processing (CFP) using tubular reactors represents an emergent paradigm shift in chemical processing that is poised to change the way chemicals and polymers are manufactured. Benefits include more sustainable (green) manufacturing processes, a shift away from resource dependence and unacceptable waste generation, to cleaner production and enduring resource use. In this presentation I will outline CSIRO’s capability in CFP and will provide representative examples in polymer synthesis, including the synthesis of well defined polymers using RAFT polymerisation technology. Dr Tsanaktsidis is a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO Materials Science & Engineering (CMSE) with over 20 years of experience in developing and delivering scientific outcomes, with demonstrated achievements in scientific research and management, technology commercialisation, and business leadership. He is a synthetic organic chemist with broad interests, as reflected by his involvement in the application of continuous flow processing methods to chemical synthesis and its application to process development for industrial applications, the application of RAFT polymerisation technology to drug delivery and bioactive molecule discovery, and the conversion of renewable biomass feedstocks into fine chemicals and fuels. Dr Tsanaktsidis led the establishment of The Flow Chemistry Laboratory in CMSE. This laboratory embodies a world-class capability in continuous flow processing, and represents a significant capital investment by CSIRO. This laboratory is both unique in Australia and world competitive, and complements CMSE’s demonstrated strengths in batch mode chemical synthesis at both the laboratory and pilot scales. La presenza della S. V. sarà molto gradita Michele Maggini Il Direttore del Dipartimento Prof. Paolo Scrimin
