FIRST CIRCULAR
We are pleased to announce that the 25th International Nuclear Physics Conference
(INPC 2013) will take place in Firenze (Italy) on 2-7 June 2013. The 24th INPC
2010 was held in Vancouver, Canada, in 2010.
The Conference is organized by the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) and
several Italian Universities, and it is sponsored by the International Union of Pure and
Applied Physics (IUPAP).
INPC 2013 will be held at the Palazzo dei Congressi in downtown Firenze. It will
consist of 5 days of conference presentations, with plenary sessions in the mornings,
parallel sessions in the afternoons, and one poster session.
The Conference will officially start in the evening of Sunday, 2 June, and will end in
the early afternoon of Friday, 7 June.
We look forward to welcoming you in Firenze in 2013!

SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND PROCEEDINGS
We encourage the submission of oral and poster contributions in the indicated
scientific areas. The Program Committee, in consultation with the International
Advisory Board, will invite plenary talks and select contributions for the parallel and
poster sessions.
The abstract submission will be open through the Conference website
from 15 October 2012 through 15 January 2013.
The oral and a few selected poster contributions will be published in the Conference
Proceedings, which will be issued in electronic format.
GENERAL INFORMATION
To secure IUPAP sponsorship, the organisers have provided assurance that INPC2013
will be conducted in accordance with IUPAP principles as stated in the IUPAP
resolution passed by the General Assembly in 2008. In particular, no bona fide
scientist will be excluded from participation on the grounds of national origin,
nationality, or political considerations unrelated to science.
BADGE
Each participant will receive a name badge upon check-in at the registration desk. The
badge will be the official Conference pass and should be worn at all time in order to
gain entry into the meeting rooms.
CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
Regularly registered participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

COMMERCIAL EXHIBITION
A space, adjacent to the lecture and poster rooms, will be available for the exhibition
of leaflets, books and equipments, for information please contact the Organizing
Secretariat OIC.
INSURANCE
The Conference Organizers do not assume any liability for personal injuries sustained
or loss of, or damage to, property belonging to Conference participants (or their
accompanying persons), either during or as result of the Conference. Participants are
requested to make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel
insurance.
LETTERS OF INVITATION AND VISA REQUIREMENTS
Participants are invited to check with their local travel agency regarding any visa
requirements to enter Italy. Application for letters of invitation will be accepted by the
Organizing Secretariat OIC before 15 February 2013. These documents cannot grant
any financial support by the organizers.

CITY OF FLORENCE
Florence is one of the most beloved cities in the world, an open sky museum famous
worldwide. In the fifteenth-century Florence, a self-governed, independent city-state
with a population of 60.000, became with its writers, painters, architects, and
philosophers the cradle of Renaissance culture; Renaissance shifted mankind into the
centre of the known cosmos and man became its measure.

The conference will take place at the Palazzo dei Congressi
(conference center) of Florence, hosted in the Villa Vittoria, a
jewel of the 19th century architecture surrounded by a park.
Palazzo dei Congressi is in downtown Florence, at 5 minute
walking distance from the main railway station in a central area
crowded with restaurants and commercial activities.

CATERING FACILITIES
Coffee breaks are included in the registration fee. A welcome reception and a poster
reception will also be offered. Bars serving coffees and snacks at individual payment
are also available in the Conference area. The Conference venue is located in a very
central area with plenty of restaurants and snack bars.

TRAVEL ADVICE

By air
There are frequent direct flights to all the most important European cities as well as
convenient intercontinental connections.
Florence Airport "Amerigo Vespucci" is only 5 km from the city centre. Bus and taxi
transportation is available between the airport and city centre.
The Pisa Airport "Galileo Galilei" (80 km far from city centre) is served by several
international airlines and is connected to Florence by a shuttle train operating every
hour. The trip takes approximately 1 hour.

By train
The new high speed trains conveniently and comfortably connect the central station
"Santa Maria Novella" to Paris, Munich, Geneva, Amsterdam, Vienna, Barcelona,

Zurich, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, etc. Eurostar trains connect Florence with Milan
(2 hrs approximately) and Rome (1 hr and 30 min approximately). The main railway
station in Florence is "Santa Maria Novella" which is very near to the Conference
venue.

Florence is centrally situated along the major north-south motorway.

TRANSPORTATION TO THE CONGRESS CENTRE
• From the airport
A bus connection (Volainbus) is operating from the airport to the city centre (main
station) every 20-25 minutes.
• From the main train station
From the main train station you can reach the Conference venue in 5 minutes walking.
• Taxis
Taxis in Florence can be ordered by telephone (055 4242 or 055 4390) or found at the
official taxi stands. You cannot stop a taxi on the road.
• Bus
Florence has a comprehensive network of local bus routes. Most of them stop at the
main railway station and therefore near to the convention venue. Bus tickets can be
purchased at most coffee bars and kiosks. Fare is € 1,20 (March 2012) multiple trips,
valid up to 90 minutes.
Tickets valid for 3 or 7 days are also available, at the fare of € 12,00 and € 18,00
respectively.
• Car parking
There are several paying parking areas around the Conference Centre.
WEATHER
The weather in Florence in June is usually warm and pleasant even if occasional
showers can occur. The average temperature is 23°-28 °C.

The full registration fee amounts to 400 Euros, which will be increased to 450 Euros
after 31 March 2013. All students are eligible for a reduced registration fee of 240
Euros, which will be increased to 280 Euros after 31 March 2013.

STUDENTS SUPPORT
The Conference Organizers encourage the participation of young scientists working on
the topics covered by INPC 2013. A limited number of students will be granted a
waiving of the registration fee and will be supported for accommodation expenses.
Applications for student support should be submitted as part of the INPC 2013 website
registration and will be accepted until 31 March 2013.
A number of low-rate, double-occupancy rooms for young participants will be available
as well.

Visit to the world famous painting Galeries “Galleria degli Uffizi” or “Galleria

Optional tours to Siena, Pisa or a Tuscany winery will be organized through the official
