CERTIFICATO DEL CASELLARIO GIUDIZIALE
Come si richiede il certificato del casellario giudiziale (generale, penale o civile) dall’estero?
Il cittadino italiano o straniero residente all'estero dovrà indirizzare la richiesta a qualunque ufficio del
casellario giudiziale presso la Procura della Repubblica.
La domanda in carta semplice deve contenere l'indicazione delle:



generalità dell'interessato (per i nati all'estero si raccomanda di precisare in stampatello quale sia
il nome e quale il cognome) data e luogo di nascita
l’indirizzo di attuale residenza (per la spedizione del certificato richiesto).

La domanda deve essere firmata dalla persona cui si riferisce il certificato e deve recare l'indicazione
della tipologia di certificato richiesto.

L’importo previsto per il tipo di certificato richiesto e per le relative spese di spedizione va versato
secondo le modalità previste in base ai Paesi e alle convenzioni (assegno bancario internazionale, vaglia
postale o eurogiro), intestato all’ufficio locale del casellario giudiziale della Procura della Repubblica del
luogo cui si inoltra la richiesta.
Per ogni ulteriore chiarimento sulle modalità di pagamento sarà opportuno contattare l'ufficio del
casellario a cui si indirizza la richiesta.
Alla domanda va allegata:



la copia di un documento di identità valido;
la ricevuta del pagamento dell’importo complessivo per i bolli, i diritti e le spese per la spedizione
del certificate;
la busta compilata con l’indirizzo per la spedizione del certificato richiesto.

HOW TO GET A POLICE CERTIFICATE

Italian citizens and non-Italian citizens having resided in Italy should obtain:
1) Certificato Penale del Casellario Giudiziale (Criminal Certificate);
and
2) Certificato Penale dei Carichi Pendenti (Outstanding Criminal Proceedings).
Apply to the “Procura della Repubblica” in your normal town of residence or the town from which your
town of residence depends (usually your provincial capital). You must specify you need a ten-year record
if applicable, and produce evidence of your identity.
1. Procedure for applicants who have lived in Italy:
The request must be addressed and sent directly to the “Procura della Repubblica presso il
Tribunale di ….”, indicating the Province where the person last resided in Italy (for example,
Milan);
2. Procedure for applicants who have never lived in Italy:

However, since nowadays the database is unified, any Procura della Repubblica should be able to
issue Criminal Records Certificates (therefore, it might be easier and quicker to apply to a smaller
Province’s Procura).
Please note that the Embassy of Italy cannot issue declarations stating that you have not lived
in Italy.
2. International bank cheque: it must be made out to the same PROCURA to which the application is
addressed.
The abbreviation of the Procura for purposes of the international cheque is:
“Cas.Giudiz.Proc.Rep.Trib. Roma” (or name of the province as per your application, for example:
Milan).
3. Forwarding address for envelope:

4. Documentation: a copy of your passport must be attached, including the page with the signature.
5. Expected waiting time: approximately 6 to 8 weeks (about 6, if urgent fees are paid).
For a quicker delivery you may give the authorization to a friend or relative in Italy (see
Authorization to apply for or to receive a Police Clearance Certificate) to request the certificates in
your name or address to an “Agenzia Certificati” (you may search in internet under the words
“Agenzia + Certificati + Casellario”).
6. If police certificates are unavailable in due time
If you cannot get a police certificate in due time, you may provide to the NZ Immigration
Authorities detailed information of your attempts to get one (i.e. proof of the application sent),
together with a separate statutory declaration in both English and your own language, to be
signed in front of a Justice of the Peace.
The statutory declaration must detail your attempts to obtain a police certificate and state
whether or not you, or any accompanying family members, have been found guilty or convicted
of, or charged with offences against the law in that country. The statutory declaration should also
be corroborated by other information attesting to your character. However, not all the NZ
Immigration Branches may accept the above and may return your visa application and ask you to
wait until the actual certificate has arrived.
