SOCIAL SERVICE PROJECTS
“The UNICEF Education Programme”: International Inner Wheel at the
convention of triennial meeting held in Christchurch, New Zealand on
May 2006, has pledged to support the project over the next three years,
and the funds raised will be utilised for education of girls and women.
“UNICEF Education Programme”: Alla Convention triennale di Christchurch-New Zealand Maggio 2006 International Inner Wheel si è impegnato a sostenere il programma per i prossimi tre anni, e le raccolte
fondi saranno utilizzate per la scolarizzazione delle bambine e delle
donne.
“MED CHILD” Service Project: Inner Wheel Italy supports the project,
presented at the Forum of 5th February 2005 at Genoa, by the President
then, Mrs. Rossana Rizzo. The aim of the Project, is to promote help to
the needy Mediterranean children, by offering them a better environment, where their growth, not only physical but also psychological is assured.
“MED CHILD”: International Inner Wheel Italia appoggia Il progetto presentato al forum di Genova il 5 febbraio 2005 dallʼallora Governatrice
Rossana Rizzo. Il progetto ha lʼobiettivo di promuovere un aiuto ai bambini bisognosi del Mediterraneo, offrendo loro un ambiente migliore dove
la loro crescita non solo fisica ma anche psicologica, sia assicurata.
“SORRISO NEL MONDO”: Improvement of childrenʼs facial malformation in developing countries; Central America, Asia and Africa. Volunteers of this Association intervene by a sanitary surgery. Dr. Andrea Di
Francesco has been very successful in illustrating the project, and many
IIWC of the District 204° PHF have contributed with remarkable generosity.
“SORRISO NEL MONDO”: Miglioramento delle malformazioni congenite del viso dei bambini, nei paesi in via di sviluppo Centro America,
Asia ed Africa, I volontari della Associazione intervengono con la chirurgia sanitaria. Dr. Andrea Di Francesco ha avuto molto successo nel illustrare il progetto e molti IIWC del Distretto 204° PHF hanno contribuito
con notevole generosità.

To promote friendship, encourage ideals of personal service, and foster
international understanding most of the clubs of the District 204° PHF
have their own individual Service Projects; Adoptions, Contacts, Twinnings, Humanitarian and Educational Social Projects etc. in various
countries.

BIELLA PHF. 1. Service in favour of a Project. A Project in collaboration
with Rotary Club, and the District 2030. Construction of an office for the
“MISSION NDARAGWA” in Kenya, where “SISTERS of CASA MARIA”
welcome over 40 children in a nursery school, in a territory where a public school does not exist.
BIELLA PHF. 1. SERVICE a favore di un progetto, UN progetto in collaborazione con il Rotary Club ed il Distretto 2030. Costruzione di una
sede della “MISSIONE NDARAGWA” in Kenia, dove le “SUORE di
CASA MARIA” accoglie oltre 40 bambini in una scuola materna, in un
territorio dove non esiste una scuola pubblica.

through “Mission of Ingore” Guinea Bissau, where some individual members of the club also have their personal adoptions. Maintains contacts
with the club of IIWC Montreux Vevey in Switzerland, and a meeting with
the club is on 25/6/2008. Brig Switzerland.

del club, hanno adozioni personali. Mantiene contatti con il club di IIWC
Montreux Vevey Svizzera, ed un incontro con il club è il 25/06/08 a Briga
Svizzera.
COLICO. 1.CONTRIBUTES TO “LA CASA DO SOL” In El Salvsdor de
Bahia, Brazil, to help the children of a favelas.2. “SUOR AIDAʼS MISSION” in Mozambique. 3. a) The club maintains the friendship with the
IIWC Bideford (GB&I Dist.17). While in England, a number of members
of the club had been hosted, by the IIWC of Bideford. The IIWC Colico,
prepares for a twinning ceremony with the club, in month of may 2009.
b) In short time, some members of the club together with the Rotary club
of Colico, are going to visit IIWC & Rotary Club of Bonn Germany, to solidify the tie of their friendship.

club di Bideford quando erano in Inghilterra. Il club di Colico sta preparando per un gemellaggio con il club, in mese di maggio 2009. . b) Tra
poco alcune socie del club con il Rotary club di Colico vanno a visitare
IIWC & Rotary Club di Bonn Germania, per solidificare loro legame di
amicizia.

CHILD”3.A contribution to the “KARIBOUNI ONLUS.” The association
with headquarters in Como, serves in Kenya Africa. Assists in health,
Education, Training, Micro credit to poor women, etc. 4. Adoption of two
girls, 13-and 14 years old, since June 2000, in Fathimanagar India.

sede a Como, serve in Kenia Africa. Assiste in Salute, Istruzione, Formazione e Micro Credito alle donne povere ecc. 4. Adozione di due ragazze, di 13 e 14 anni, dal giugno 2000, in Fathimanagar India.

Mondoviʼ hosts children from Chernobyl, since last five years. 4. Contributes to Don Chiera Renato for the houses “DO MERINOS” in Brazil, to
help and receive poor children. 5. Contributes to Father Luciano Verdoscia to help “Zabaleen” in Cairo Egypt, 3rd year. 6. Gives a contribution
to “ PASSIONE DI VILLANOVA.” The Mission is in Rumania and Equador 5th year. 7. Has an adoption of a girl, of an orphanage Bambola, in
Sri Lanka, 4th year..

The School Uniform. 5. Club contributes to the “GOA”, a project in collaboration with the Rotayr club Nairobi, initiation of Prof. Mastragostino,
serves two “Disable Childrenʼs House” in Nieri & Nakuru Africa. 6. The
club participates in “Micro Credit” project of the District 2030 Rotary International , which gives a help to poor women in India, to start a small
commercial activity,

club contribuisce al “GOA”, un progetto in collaborazione con il Rotary
club Nairobi, iniziativa di Prof. Mastragostino, operano in due “Disabile
Childrenʼs House” in Nieri e Nakuru Africa. 6. Il club partecipa in “Micro
Credito” progetto del Distretto 2030 Rotary International, che aiuta alle
donne povere in India ad avviare le piccole attività commerciali.

in collaboration with the Foundation Ivan Ramiro Cordoba & Maria Yepe,
would create new missions & health facilities, along the coast of the Pacific Ocean Colombia, into the localities, where its difficult to arrive.

club has decided to follow the project in Albania. Artisan products, by
women in Albania, and the collocation, also in Torino, 3. “Fratel Albino,
Sacra famiglia Chieri” A mission in Nanoro Burrkina Faso follows the
projects like wells for water, health service, vaccination for children etc.
4. “Paediatric Hospital of Kimbondo” Kinshasa Congo. Assists and
cures, around 500 children. Service free of charge for children of 0-15
years; orphans, disables, and affected with infective disease. Close to
the same structure, in future, a primary school and a professional school
is foreseen.

Il Premio Letterario Inner Wheel, come è noto, dal 1996 è presenza qualificata nellʼambito dei Concorsi Letterari Femminili. Aperto alle Socie
Inner Wheel ed alle Consorti dei Rotariani, si pone ormai da più di un decennio come iniziativa culturale che, unendo le donne e le Socie Inner
Wheel intorno alla scrittura, valorizza appunto quella comprensione internazionale, che è finalità ʻfondamentaleʼ dello Statuto Inner Wheel.
Premio internazionale. Europeo. Tanto da chiamarsi Premio Letterario
Inner Wheel Europa nelle due ultime edizioni. Progetto pregevole che
unisce lʼItalia con Paesi di lingua francese, tedesca, spagnola, inglese.
Progetto capace di innovarsi nel tempo, attraverso la ricerca di nuove
formule ed aprendosi a collaborazioni sempre più stimolanti. Capace di
essere anche strumento di service.
Ascoltare a Torino, nella bella sede dove abbiamo celebrato in ottobre
la cerimonia della XII Edizione, le parole di consenso e di apprezzamento della Presidente Internazionale Kamala Ramakrishnan per il Premio Letterario Inner Wheel, ci ha riempito di gioia, di personale ed intima
soddisfazione. Soddisfazione perché è stata riconosciuta al Premio dalla
più alta carica Istituzionale dellʼInner Wheel una funzione importante,
maturata e guadagnata anno dopo anno.
Kamala ha detto: ʻHo appreso con piacere del vostro Premio Letterario,
che, cominciato da uno dei vostri Club, abbraccia oggi molte nazioni e
lingue diverse. Questo è davvero un bellʼesempio di comprensione internazionale.. Joyce Carol Oates ha scritto “la letteratura è la via maestra per indossare, spesso involontariamente e inconsciamente, unʼaltra
pelle, per avere unʼaltra voce ed unʼaltra anima”.
Il vostro Premio Letterario nato nel 1996 ha contribuito grandemente a
promuovere la Comprensione Internazionale. La crescita del Premio
Letterario avviene grazie a Socie impegnate nel progetto, ma sensibili
alle necessità di innovare per farlo crescere. Purtroppo succede che alcune Socie impegnate in un progetto lo considerino proprio e non ne
permettano la crescita.
Questo non è avvenuto per voi grazie alla mentalità aperta che ne ha
permesso uno sviluppo impensabile. Mi complimento con Luisa Vinciguerra non solo per aver avuto inizialmente questa brillante idea, ma
per il fatto che continui ancora a seguirlo con il suo Comitatoʼ.

The IW Literary Prize, as we all know, is a qualified womenʼs literary
competition since 1996. It is open to IW members and to the wives of the
Rotarians, and it has been for over a decade a cultural brainchild gathering women and IW members together around writing, and promoting
international understanding, which is a fundamental aim of IW Constitution.
It is an International Prize. A European Prize (this is why it has been called IW-Europe Literary Prize over the last two editions). It is a valuable
project, involving Italy and international participants from French, German, Spanish, English-speaking countries. Our project is capable to
renew itself over time, through the search for new approaches and ever
more inspiring cooperations. It is developed as a tool for our service.
The chance in Turin of hearing President Kamalaʼs words of praise and
approval for the IW Literary Prize, in the beautiful venue in which was
held the XII Edition prize ceremony in October last year, filled us with joy
and self-fulfillment. An important role, developed and gained over the
years, has been acknowledged to the Prize by the highest IW Officer.
Kamala said: ʻIt was really interesting to read about your literary prize
that began as a single clubʼs project and has now gone on to take within
its fold different countries and varied languages. What a great way to
foster international understanding. As Joyce Carol Oates says “literature
is the sole
means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's
skin, another's voice, another's soul.”
Today this attempt to foster mutual understanding, your literary prize
that was born in 1996 it has grown phenomenally in its reach. Such
growth is not possible unless we have people committed to the project
and with a vision to take it forward incorporating changes as it grows.
You know many people who are put in charge of a project get so possessive and so set in their thinking that they often stop growth. I am
happy that this project is in the hands of forward thinking members who
have taken it much beyond anyone could drean of. And I congratulate
Luisa Vinciguerra for not just coming up with such a brilliant and imaginative idea but continuing with her committee to looking after it stillʼ.

An important event of International relationship, the visit of IIW President Kamala Ramakrishnan 25-31 March 2008. Proposed and promoted by the District
204° PHF, a warm welcome was also given by the Board Director Gabriella
Adami, National Council President Rosa Maria Lo Torto, and National Representative Maria Beatrice Guerrini with their presence in Genoa.
During her visit to Genoa Turin and Milan, the President was received with a
very warm welcome by the authorities Inner Wheel Italy, District Chairman Paola
Lagorara, almost all the President of the club of the District 204°PHF, members,
and new entering members.

Visit of The IIW.Vice President Suzanne Hem Nielsen
IIW. Vice President Suzanne Hem Nielsen was invited in occasion of
“Festa dellʼ Amicizia” Forum “Human Rights”, on 7-9 March 2008, IIW Italy annual meeting. A very warm welcome was given in Venice, to the Vice President
by the Authorities Inner Wheel Italy. During the convention the presence of institutional authorities in Italy of UNICEF, Amnesty International, EIUC, and University rendered the occasion interesting and important.
The clubs of Venice organised the event efficiently, and the presence of more
than 300 members showed the enthusiastic interest. We wish Suzanne a bright
future, and a great 2008/2009.
