Sagmeister, è stato incaricato di
dedicarsi ai contatti con i costruttori di macchine utensili. Allo stand
Durcrete nel padiglione 7 sono stati

High Performance Concrete) applications
(see Portland No. 43, August 2008). Thanks
to the incredible properties of the modern,
nano-engineered high-tech materials,
concrete can now be used in completely
new fields, such as the construction of solid
machine beds and tool frames in order to
achieve faster precision machining and
obtain less wear and tear of the equipment.
With Nanodur®, it is possible to achieve an
evenness accuracy of approx. 0.1 mm simply by constructing the correct formwork.
A few manufacturers of woodworking and
metalworking equipment have already
introduced this new material into mass
production, successfully differentiating
themselves from the competition. The
special concrete dampens vibrations up to
80% faster than traditional materials. With
the concrete body the machine attains new
dynamics, which are expressed in higher
feeding speeds and axis accelerations.
Therefore, concrete bodies made with Nanodur® allow the tools to work faster with
less wear and tear than conventional cast
steel structures. However, it is not just the
technical characteristics of Nanodur® that
are so impressive, the resulting machining
is longer-lasting and more respectful of the
environment when compared to competitor
products made with polymer concrete and
natural stone. These factors are convincing
an ever growing number of manufacturers
to use this innovative product.
To promote the use of Nanodur® in the
construction of machine tools and to create
awareness of the product among industry
operators, we decided to participate in
the EMO 2013 trade show. The EMO is the
largest venue in the world for metalworking equipment manufacturers that takes
place every two years, alternating between
Hannover and Milan. Dyckerhoff provided its technological expertise in concrete,
while the Managing Director of Durcrete,
Bernhard Sagmeister, was responsible for
developing contacts with machine tool manufacturers. The Durcrete stand in pavilion
7 also featured a new concrete body for woodworking machines, a tool for measuring
rectangular mounting surfaces with a
precision of up to 5 µm = 0,005 mm, and
a tool frame constructed of UHPC and cast
steel. Positive contacts had previously been
initiated with various industry operators
before the trade show, thanks to an extensi-
ve mailing and direct contact campaign.
The overall consensus among the journalists at the press conference organized at
the stand during the show was also very
encouraging. Besides the Managing Director of Durcrete, Thomas Deuse, Product
Development Manager for WDI also attended the show. They both made themselves
available to customers for the entire duration of the show, offering technical advice
on concrete. Heinrich Wasemann, Technical
Director of the Sudholt-Wasemann GmbH
firm of Herzebrock-Clarholz, a company
which has been greatly involved in the use
of ultra strong concrete based on Nanodur®
in the machine tool manufacturing sector
during the last few years, also helped
contribute to the great success of these
products on the market.
Since concrete bodies for machine tools
could be of great interest for the international market, Massimo Bocciolini, Special
Products Technical Assistant for Buzzi
Unicem, attended the show for a few days
in order to gain an overview of the market
and its possibilities. The next EMO will
take place in Milan from October 5 - 10,
2015, with the slogan “Let’s build the
future”.
