Ateneum Art Museum »
Ateneum Art Museum houses the largest collections of art in Finland with more than 20,000 works of art from the 1750s to the 1950s. T he changing exhibitions
are on display on the ground floor and in the exhibition halls on the second floor. Ateneum also organises various workshops, guided tours and other
programme. The Ateneum building was designed by the architect Theodor Höijer and it was completed in 1887. Ateneum Art Museum is part of the Finnish
National Gallery.

Helsinki Cathedral »
When Helsinki became the capital of Finland in 1812, Helsinki's centre was established around the Senate Square. Architects C.L. Engel and A. Ehrenström, who
adapted the grand Empire style architecture of St. Petersburg, designed all the buildings surrounding the Senate Square including the Hel sinki Cathedral. The
cathedral was completed in 1852.
National Museum of Finland »
The National Museum of Finland illustrates Finnish history from prehistoric times to the present day. Major archaeological finds, the historical, numismatic and
ethnological collections have been put together for over 170years. Workshop Vintti on the third floor is an interactive exhibition especially designed for children,
where visitors can study the history of Finland and its culture using their hands and heads. VINTTI is suited to everyone over the age of seven. Younger children
can visit in the company of adults. There is no upper age limit. Temporary exhibitions.
Parliament »
Finland's 200-seat parliament gathers in this impressive building representing 1920s Classicism. The facade of the building is made of red granite from Kalvola.
The main facade includes 14 Corinthian columns. Possibility for the public to see the plenary sessions. An Information Center for the citizens in the new annex
(address: Arkadiankatu 3) of the Parliament is open Mon-Thu 10-18 and Fri 10-16. In the annex also the Europe Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Café Pikku Parlamentti and access to internet.
Senate Square »
The Senate Square and its surroundings form a unique and cohesive example of Neoclassical architecture. The square is dominated by four buildings designed by
Carl Ludvig Engel between 1822 and 1852: Helsinki Cathedral, the Government Palace, the main building of the University of Helsinki and the National Library of
Finland. Helsinki Cathedral is arguably Finland's most famous and photographed building; it celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002. The oldest stone building in
Helsinki is the Sederholm House located on the southeast corner of the square.The main building of the City Museum can be found on the Sofiankatu museum
street.
Seurasaari Open-Air Museum »
The Seurasaari Open-Air Museum provides an insight into Finnish housing in days gone by and Finnish folk tradition. The buildings and interiors transferred to
the Museum from the Finnish provinces reflect the life of crofters, peasants and gentry from the 18th to the 20th century. Guides in national costumes lead
visitors back to the cottages and salons of former times during the summer season 15.6. - 15.8. The guided tour begins from the ticket kiosk daily, 12.00 in
German, 13.00 in Finnish and in Swedish, 15.00 in English. The guided tour is included in the museum ticket. Craft demonstrations, concerts, Midsummer
festivities. In 2009 the museum celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Sibelius Monument »
In the Sibelius park is the world famous composer Jean Sibelius' (1865-1957) monument by Eila Hiltunen. It was unveiled 7.9.1967. The Sibelius Monument,
recembling organ pipes, is made of welded steel with the bust of the composer on one side. The monument is one of Helsinki's most popular statues and one of
the most well known tourist attractions. The monument is 8,5m high, 10,5m wide and 6,5m deep. It is built of over 600 pipes and weighs 24 tons.

Temppeliaukio Church »
Quarried out of the natural bedrock, Temppeliaukio Church is one of Helsinki's most popular tourist attractions. The interior walls are created naturally by the
rock. The church was designed by architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen and opened in 1969. Due to its excellent acoustics the church is a popular venue for
concerts.
Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral »
Completed in 1868 in the Katajanokka district of Helsinki, the Uspenski Cathedral is the largest orthodox church in Western Europe. With its golden cupolas and
redbrick facade, the church is one of the clearest symbols of the Russian impact on Finnish history.
