The monks of Norcia welcome you to a beautiful experience of prayer. The Gregorian chant
that you will hear is an exceptional art form with a mystical quality. It is the Church’s love song to her Lord, and expresses the deepest emotions of the human heart in search of God.
In this CD, the monks have chosen from the vast repertoire of Gregorian chant those pieces
which meditate on the life of the person closest to Our Lord: his mother Mary, whom we
monks affectionately call Regina monachorum, the Queen of Monks.
The CD bears the title Benedicta, which is a Biblical word (cf. Luke 1) taken from the passage in which the angel Gabriel exclaims to Mary: Benedicta tu!, Blessed are you among women.
There are many recordings of Marian chants. In this CD we have carefully chosen pieces that
are less common, in order to offer our listeners something special, something unique. The monastery of Norcia is a young and vibrant community, located at the birthplace of Saints
Benedict and Scholastica in the region of Umbria, Italy. We invite you to come visit us, and
experience our life of prayer.

In questo CD, i monaci hanno scelto da un vasto repertorio di canto gregoriano i brani che
meditano sulla vita della persona più vicina al Signore: la madre Maria, che i monaci chiamano
affettuosamente Regina monachorum, la Regina dei Monaci.
Il CD porta il titolo di Benedicta, un termine biblico (cfr. Luca 1) tratto dal passaggio in cui
l’angelo Gabriele esclama a Maria: Benedicta tu!, Benedetta tu tra le donne.
Ci sono molte registrazioni di canti mariani. In questo CD abbiamo attentamente scelto brani
meno comuni per offrire ai nostri ascoltatori un’esperienza speciale, unica. Il Monastero di Norcia è una comunità giovane e vivace situata nel luogo che diede i natali a
