Identità Commerciali - Camera di Commercio Varese
Identità Commer ciali Leader nel Ciclismo Online Leader in on line Cycling A t the beginning there was only a simple on line window concerning a bicycle shop of Varese. Then this web site became the first Italian on line page for bicycles’ sale using Internet. This is the story of Gambacicli, that began in 1999. Simone Gamba, who was in that period an engineer keen on computer science, improved the shop he managed with his brother Cristiano (in Via Piave, in the centre of Varese) with a web site. As Simone Gamba explains: “I opened gambacicli.it, both for a joke and for pleasure. When we received the first demands from places out of Varese, we sensed the business opportunities of this idea. I gradually extended the range of products offered and constantly updated the web site. In a few years we became very famous on Internet”. In 2006 a real e-commerce website wass created, called gambacicli.com. Since sales increased rapidly, the two brothers decided to divide these two activities. Cristiano managed and still manages the shop placed in Varese, while Simone promoted and still promotes on line sales. Simone Gamba created Webstore, an on line page which has maintained its original name (that is famous in Internet yet) and is related to a store in Bobbiate. Nowadays Gambacicli is the Italian on line point of reference as regards cycling and boasts 10 thousand users that daily enter in these two websites. The registered users can directly order items by Internet and receive them in 24 hours. The website and the profiles created on Facebook and Twitter allow to update constantly the on line pages, uploading news, offers and promotions. Simone Gamba continues: “We are very famous in Internet. Moreover we have an on line forum that is particularly used for discussions and important to build our customers’ loyalty”. In this way, if we use Google to search words like “Shimano gear levers”, “bicycle chains” or “bicycle fork”, the first result we have always concerns an on line page of this website of Varese. D Ph. Nicola Antonello Ski is ready I n the past skiing was an elite sport. You had to apply for a loan only to buy ski-equipment. Nowadays you need about one hundred Euro for winter season. We have to thank Due Elle Sport too. This shop, placed in Varese, offers several services like the maintenance of equipments. Besides Due Elle Sport invented the seasonal hire: Therefore skis, snowboards and ski boots are within everybody’s reach. Giancarlo Merzario, that manages the shop together with his brother Pierluigi, has been twice Italian champion with Mastini Hockey. He explains us: “This solution is profitable, especially for people that do not go skiing every weekend. Moreover it is a good idea for children, that grows rapidly and have to change their equipment every two years, and for those people who do not ski for a long time and prefer to test their ability before buying new skis”. Hire is developing, but also the opportunity to purchase the equipment at the end of the trial year. These innovative ideas also allow the improvement of the shop owned by Merzario bros. Since 1986 this shop has been selling sport clothes and can be considered the oldest shop of Varese in this sector. The ex wing of Shimano adds: “In these latest two years we also hire ciaspole. At the same time we are specializing on golf and continue developing our positive workshop’s activity”. Identità Commer ciali Turismo Fuori dagli Schemi V arese, Land of Tourism? Marco Croci A tourism outside the norms I 37 Ph. Paolo Zanzi 36 s Varese a Land of Tourism? Yes, it is. But it does not propose only tourism. The Chamber of Commerce and the Province of Varese invented a famous slogan aimed at promoting the so-called “Land of the seven lakes”. This slogan has been developed and improved thanks to a special agency called “Land of emotion”. This agency was opened in 2007 with the name Cc Tour and the objective of promoting sustainable tourism in Insubria land. At the beginning of 2010 it became a real tour operator, specialized in journeys abroad with unusual programs. But its buttonhole flower is in-coming tourism. As Giulia Contini and Iljic Cesca, member of “Land of emotion” underline: “We pay particular attention to the land of Varese, that our agency includes in its tourist routes”. Among the numerous proposals of this eclectic operator there are trips by mountain bike, horse riding, sailing, routes with electric bikes, diving, explorations in caves and paragliding. Cesca marks again: “The 99% of our market includes foreign people and our activity involves people wishing to make experiences, to search emotions, to go on adventurous journeys and not to choose stereotyped tourist programs”. Ph. Nicola Antonello Glasses ready in less than no time “F lash” by Ilop are glasses ready in less than no time. Your optician usually asks you to choose your glasses’ frame, to order your lens and then to return in his shop. On the contrary Ilop, a firm formerly opened in Cunardo, asks you to wait only thirty minutes or an hour at most. In fact the 80% of the materials is already in Ilop’s well-stocked store. If you are myopic or presbyopic (till six dioptres) or need two-cylinder lens for astigmatism, Ilop’s workshop is able to create immediately your new glasses thanks to its computerized system. The owner of the shop, Michele Giroldi, explains us: “As we guarantee a short waiting, our clients arrive from far villages and towns too”. This is a strategic innovation for Ilop, that is for a shop which is already modern and combines features of firms with the peculiarities of a trade concern. Ilop started with the production of lens, but now it also sells the best made in Italy brands, such as Armani and Valentino. In the latest years these famous brands are presented in fairs for opticians. Ilop also offers a range of products which includes contact lens, medical items, products for partially-sighted people, as well as optical and weather instruments. All these items are rigorously consigned in less than no time. 39 39 Identità Commer ciali Cono Pizza: Tutto da Gustare I 41 Cono Pizza: all to taste T his project combines two of the foods mainly loved by Italian people of any age: Ice-cream cone and pizza. The idea of Cono Pizza derives from a design developed some years ago. In 2004 Spuntibreak of Mornago invented a product that meets the needs of all the gourmands: Pizzacono. This is really a cone made of dough. It seems like the cone used for ice-creams, but instead of pistachioand stracciatella-flavoured ice-cream it contains stringy mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and all the ingredients used for the most traditional Italian pizza (all the ingredients rigorously come from Italy). Cono Pizza is cooked for you as you wait and is to be eaten when hot. Nowadays the holding of Mornago has several takeaways with the brand “Pizza Hands”. These takeaways represent Italian fastfood, are promoted in fifty countries and boast four factories situated in Florence, Japan, U.S.A. and Iran. The manager Marco Messuti explains: “We started this project six years ago. Then, during the first two years, we developed the design of this product and studied how to exhibit it in international fairs. This brand has a patent and now counts about two thousand takeaways”. Ph. Marco Croci Moto: A “travelling” sale T he philosophy on which this activity is based reminds us the mythic Klondike and the époque of the gold rush, when the wagon carried gold diggers’ camps the most miscellaneous supplies. If you deside to understand the project of Moto Bogni of Gallarate you just need to consider the above mentioned image, “motorize” it and interpret it in sport way. In fact since 2009 Claudio Bogni, the owner of Moto Bogni, uses his lorry to reach the motocross competitions of all our Province, where he sells specific items and spare pieces to the competing athletes and their fans. This travelling sale is combined with the traditional one in the shop of Via Ticino, that Carlo Bogni opened at the beginning of the Eighties. During competitions he sells different items: For example levers, chains, pinions, gears, candelas, gloves, tires and elbow guards. Claudio Bogni tells us: “This is a kind of pilots’ assistance, that transforms itself in a form of advertisement for our shop. This idea derives from my great passion for this reality, that often makes me work every day of the week, on Sunday too. Something starts to develop. But I am sure that the results of this activity can be seen in the near future”. Ph. Flavio Zulle 42 43 Identità Commer ciali Ortofrutta: da Varese verso Tutto il Mondo Fruit and vegetables: from Varese to all the world O E very week containers loaded with fruits and vegetables, but also agribusiness products coming from the Province of Varese. These containers allow to regulate their temperature during their travel from Malpensa airport to Japan. Every day fourteen refrigerated containers stock the restaurants of Autogrill, Ikea, Burger King and Gruppo Cremonini situated in Northern Italy. Ortofrutticola Lombarda also supplies an innovative snack made of fruit skewers. This idea confirms the efficiency of a firm that is able to supply every kind or level of restaurant. Sale, delivery, production. Ortofrutticola Lombarda was opened in Gazzada in 1991. It started with agricultural and commercial activities and has now an international business. This firm is specialized in supplying restaurants and is able to guarantee big trade chains the supply of fresh, measured and homogeneous goods in all the North of Italy. To be more precise this firm promoted Hfd, that is the first national association of the field. This association allows supplying in the rest of Italy too. Milene Fornasari, manager of the firm, explains: “Thanks to the cooperation of other six firms we have recently opened the first specialized platform concerning fruit and vegetable supplying for restaurants. This allows to assure standard products for big chains and brands, but also zero-kilometre supplying of local products”. This firm placed in Gazzada is also a producer and manages a factory where fruit is worked. This factory is situated in Pietro in Casale (Bo) and includes the cooperation with an other company called Agribologna. The entrepreneur continues: “We follow the marketing of the brand “Fresco senso”, used in restoration field. Besides we have invented a snack based on a fruit skewer, to be sold in small bags”. Then there is export business: Ortofrutticola Lombarda is the only Italian firm able to deliver weekly its products in the East. It can supply by air the Italian restaurateurs that live in Japan, China, Thailand or Singapore. Ph. Piero Orlando 46 Coat hangers for flight-proof clothes F Ph. Paolo Zanzi rom silk to polyethylene. Elegance can also include the most common plastic stuff. This miracle comes from the Armeria Meschieri of Varese, a shop that dictates the fashion of the town and is an inventor too. Its owner, Luca Valcarenghi, used polyethylene to invent a new coat hanger, which is able to avoid the squashing of a jacket and to crumple it when folding the cloth up. This magic coat hanger is called Lord Iron and is covered with a soft material offering a light and not bulky stuffing that also includes body and arms. As the entrepreneur explains us: “When people travel for work and choose airplanes it is difficult to fold jackets and clothes up and not to crease them. This is a difficult task that normally ends giving clothes to the hotel laundry or with a desperate and often vain attempt to remove the unwelcome creases”. This is what happened to Mr. Valcarenghi in Dubai before a business meeting and with all laundries closed. In that occasion Lord Iron was invented and this idea rapidly became an international patent. In fact the Italian creativity can transform a mirage in reality also in the middle of the Arabic desert. Ph. Piero Orlando Jewels bought using your own computer A necklace, a bracelet or a watch can be selected using your own computer, looking their photos, reading the relative description and comparing their prices, which are directly indicated on the web site. Then you can order the selected item, that can be received within 24 hours. The slogan of this successful idea promoted by Gioielleria Parravicini of Varese is: “Fatti portare un gioiello a casa” (Receive a jewel at home). This jewellery started with a bet, that is to sell some products using Ebay. In four years this jewellery has developed one of the main Italian e-commerce businesses of the field. As Marco Parravicini tells us: “We started this activity in 2008, promoting the sale of products through on line auctions. We wanted to know if people really buy using Internet. In a few months we discovered that this field offered opportunities”. This is how www.gioielleriaparravicini.it opened. Marco Parravicini continues: “At the beginning this was a hard route, because it is demanding to manage a website concerning e-commerce. Therefore we were supported by an expert who followed indexing and marketing and by a skilled analyst who helped us in promoting and exposing our services, but also in assuring continuous updating and security in payments”. The website is connected with www.blog.gioielleriaparravicini.it, that allows to contact directly potential customers and to give news via newsletter and messages too. The brands that mostly suit on line sale are selected and proposed in the jewellery too. Besides the products have a certification called Aicel (Associazione Italiana Commercio Elettronico – Italian Electronic Trade Association), that assures safe on line commerce. Therefore orders increase and nowadays this website can daily count about eight hundred customers. This number increases during Christmas period and reaches 2500 customers. Parravicini jewellery is therefore at the third or fourth place in the list of all the Italian jewellers and watchmakers selling their products on line. Parravicini explains us: “To start e-commerce business is like to open a shop: after furnishing the space, you need to promote and manage it through a qualified staff that can update on line pages and follow all the deliveries”. 49 A Busto le Spade del Signore degli Anelli Identità Commer ciali The swords of the Lord of the Rings are in Busto T Ph. Flavio Zulle 50 here are craft made knives but also the swords of the Lord of the Rings. Collini Cutler’s receives demands from all over the world. It has been selling knives and household objects in Busto Arsizio for forty years and in the latest ten years it has become a point of reference for private customers and professional people wishing to buy on line this type of products. Collini Cutler’s has a web site too, that registers 4500 daily accesses, and a Youtube link, that boasts 5000 daily accesses. In 1999 Rudy Collini opened his first e-commerce website. The website www.coltelleriacollini. it offers every kind of knife: craft made and industrial ones, knives for collections, table and hunting knives, as well as sport and military ones. But this website also includes swords, torches, toiletries, fantasy and historical clothes. In 2002 the first Italian forum about blades was opened: In a short period of time it became a point of reference for lovers, reaching the actual 800-1000 daily accesses. In 2008 the website www. youtube.it/ColtelleriaCollini was opened. Every week this on line page shows a film concerning a new item. After ten years there are fourteen web sites, including the main on line page but also specialized ones, more than five thousand articles that can be bought on line, twenty-eight thousand registered customers, one hundred and seventy videos and 1,5 millions of users all over the world. Rudy Collini explains: “We use several platforms, in order to improve our indexing and to be easily found using different search engines. We create our videos in our premises, we show the features of our items, how they are to be used and we add each video a card. This e-commerce activity is part of our business by now”. Moreover the shop sells swords, lances, the suits of armour of the Lord of the Rings, accessories of Harry Potter, Star Wars and of other cinematographic sagas. Collini continues explaining: “We are one of the few international firms having the licence to sell official items proposed in movies. They are required by collectors or for events including commemorations”. Flavio Zulle 52 Abbigliamento Ideale per Bambini Items of clothing: ideal for children I nnovation, quality and creativity. These three aspects cannot be ignored, especially when speaking about items of clothing for 0-3 year-old children. In fact newborn babies need items realized with soft fabrics, that for example do not cause allergic reactions. Besides when children grow they start having specific tastes and style preferences like adults. Nonsololatte of Busto Arsizio knows well this. Nonsololatte is a company founded at the end of 2005 for commercial distribution. Nowadays Nonsololatte has the exclusive Italian management of a dozen brands concerning textile field and items for 0-3 year-old children. Ludovica Dodero is partner of this company and explains us that these brands mainly come from the North of Europe, because there is for example a production of clothes made of organic fabrics. These fabrics are not treated and are “ideal for children’s skin”. This distribution started in Busto, then it covered all our Region, the North of Italy and all our country. Thanks to this activity the retail shop Biancolatte opened in 2007 in Via Cardinal Tosi. In a few years it became a point of reference for customers that pay attention to the innovations of the field and to items’ quality. I nnovazione, qualità e creatività. Nicola Antonello Pieces of jewellery for teenagers T hese jewels are snappy, branded and cheap. Now the buyer is the teenager, not the lady wrapped in furs. This target revolution began in Busto Arsizio in 2003 thanks to the shop “Dino C”. Alessandra Ceccuzzi, owner and promoter of the shop, manages a jeweller’s which was previously owned by her grandfather Dino and her father Bruno. We speak about a historical shop of Busto Arsizio. Dino C started its activity selling a bracelet when the workshop was in Via Montebello (now it is located in the promenade of Via Don Minzioni 2). From that moment Dino C has never stopped its business. In fact Dino C opened shops in Varese, Como and Rome, but the opening of its first shop in Piedmont is forthcoming too. In other words this idea works. Bruno Ceccuzzi, patron of the shop, explains: “My daughter is a powerhouse. We opened jewellery’s shops for teenagers: There are no metal detectors and jewels are more youthful than the classical ones. Besides we offer easier products, with a more attractive design, high quality and prices that are more affordable for young people”. In our shops there are the most appreciated teenagers’ brands, such as Dodo, Locman, Pianegonda and Mimì. Ceccuzzi adds: “As I am a man and jeweller of old I would never have opened so many shops. But Alessandra has completely computerized our accounting system. Therefore from the mother shop of Busto Arsizio we can know the current sales’ status and the youthful trends of Rome, Como and Varese”. Ph. Paolo Zanzi 54 I 56 nnovazione in pasticceria? C an we speak about innovation in a confectioner’s? Yes, we can. Since 1958 Buosi has been transforming its products in pure art. We can just think about the invention called “Buosino”, an historical recipe based on chocolate and coffee that won the U.S.A. too. The owner of the confectioner, Denis Buosi, explains: “Beside being good the secret of its innovative nature is marketing. Buosino has been copied in all the possible and imaginable ways. But this brand is named after me. Therefore anyone can call it with the same name”. This name has become a global brand in export trade. Paolo Bettini promoted it too. In fact during his training for the Cycling World Championship in 2008 and 2009 he made his national team stop in Piazza Beccaria of Varese for breakfast. The international success of Buosino is also due to a search of more and more tasty products to satisfy customers’ palate. Buosi continues relating: “The latest novelty is an ice-cream made with walnuts of Macadamia, an Australian fruit which cannot be practically found here. I have become a specialist in searching assiduously new products. At the same time, when I am in my workshop, I pay particularly attention to techniques. It is an amusing activity and its success derives from the interest that half of my customers have in my novelties”. In fact Denis Buosi has also become one of Algida’s consultants: He has to develop the new flavours of the famous ice-creams Magnum and Cornetti and in recent times he has been tasting dozens and dozens of spices and essential oils coming from all over the world. This is a hard but sweet job. 57 Ph. This is the activity of Creo, that is an “atelierworkshop” for restoration placed in Varese where it is difficult to identify the border between art and handicraft. Creo opened after the lucky meeting between Lorella Bottegal and Graziella Spanò. Lorella got a diploma in Accademia di Brera and was the owner of a shop in St. Antonio’s cloister, while Graziella Spanò is a creative lover of paper-pulp and Raku chinaware. As Graziella underlines: “We have two different personalities. Lorella is keen on art, while I am keen of handcrafts. Therefore we are complementary”. Their activity derives from this special alchemy: Their shop was formerly in Vicolo Canonichetta, but for a few months they have moved in bigger rooms in Via Sacco, where they developed an activity which goes over the traditional definitions. Lorella Bottegal affirms: “We represent a ‘creative atelier’, but also a point of sale where we offer artistic handicrafts. Our works are made with different materials, from iron to wood, from paper-pulp to stone and chinaware”. In fact Graziella and Lorella design, restore, paint and produce pictures, as well as pieces of furniture made of wood, iron and salvages. They also use several materials to design creative pieces of furniture that are ad hoc for specific spaces. Graziella Spanò explains us: “We offer advices for interior decoration, aimed at re-inventing rooms, styles and colours, but also changing objects’ arrangement”. With the support of smiths, joiners, upholsterers and decorators Creo searches old pieces of furniture in small antique trade markets or in its customers’ attics and makes them live again. Ph. 59 Identità Commer ciali An Elixir of happiness O 60 Un Elixir di Serenità Ph. In the latest six years Al Borducan has been managed by Silvia Basso and Pasqualino Rundine, after being completely restored between 1998 and 2000. Al Borducan offers a unique product called Elisir al Borducan, whose name became famous two centuries ago yet. We refer to the famous liqueur of Sacro Monte, a brew made with orange and sweet herbs that was invented by Davide Bregonzio of Varese in 1872. His flash derives from a journey in Algeria. Bregonzio was an expert herbalist and invented several distillates. In Algeria he appreciated the local oranges and used them to create a liqueur that he called Borducan, name which reminds the Arabian translation of “orange”. Pasqualino Rundine explains us: “We can say without doubts that this elixir is the most relevant pillar of our activity, also because we boast its exclusive sale”. A lot of people (including many foreign tourists) stop spellbound to look at Santa Maria del Monte, but they do not forgo to drink this liqueur. Therefore they sip it while admiring our lakes and the foothills of our Alps, that is a landscape which was particularly loved by the nineteenth-century wanderer called Stendhal.
