DISCORSO DI BENVENUTO del 25-05-2011
Buongiorno a tutti e benvenuti a Catania. L'Istituto comprensivo “ XX Settembre”è molto lieto ed
onorato di avervi suoi ospiti graditissimi. Oggi diamo il benvenuto ai colleghi partner del Progetto
Comenius:”OUR GREEN WORLD” provenienti dal Regno Unito, Spagna, Cipro, Slovenia e
Turchia.
Vi ringrazio tutti di cuore. Perchè essere qui oggi significa amare la propria professione di
insegnante, amare soprattutto la scuola e il compito educativo ad essa assegnato.
Non si può negare che la realtà contemporanea é una realtà multiculturale assistiamo ogni giorno
ad un aumento della variabilità culturale dovuta anche alla presenza di diverse culture o gruppi
etnici all'interno di uno stesso contesto.
Dare la possibilità ai ragazzi della scuola europea di incontrarsi, stringersi le mani, lavorare
insieme, conoscersi è un grande contributo per il consolidamento delle basi di una grande Europa; è
la più sana e sicura terapia contro i nazionalismi, i regionalismi, gli individualismi.
E' per questo grande obiettivo che la nostra scuola ha voluto promuove incontri con le scuole
europee; è, credo, per questo obiettivo che oggi tutti voi, cari amici, siete a Catania. Appare infatti
chiaro che tutti quanti noi lavoriamo per la costruzione dell'identità europea che si identifica con il
concetto di cittadinanza. Quest’anno per l’Italia è un anno davvero speciale perché si festeggiano i
150 anni dell’Unità d’Italia, la nascita di una nazione che ha sempre promosso l’idea di un’ Europa
unita così pure come il rispetto delle diversi identità nazionali.
A voi questo Istituto rivolge un sincero ringraziamento, perché con la vostra presenza in questa
città testimoniate un grande amore per la scuola, per i giovani, per l'Europa.Si è molto lavorato sul
progetto “Our Green World “ che ha toccato molti aspetti della problematica relativa alla difesa
dell’ambiente, facendo diventare questo tema il centro della nostra attività didattica a livello
interdisciplinare.La nostra scuola è situata al centro storico della città ed è purtroppo carente degli
spazi verdi che abbiamo visto nelle scuole dove siamo stati ospiti . Tuttavia abbiamo cercato di
portare il verde all’interno della scuola creando spazi gradevoli e colorati per rendere più piacevole
la nostra giornata scolastica .Oggi abbiamo una scuola in fiore che continueremo a curare e a
migliorare con l’obiettivo di realizzare a breve termine spazi verdi anche all’esterno così come
previsto dal progetto.

Good morning and welcome to Catania. Our school is delighted to have you all as our pleasant
guests; today we'd like to welcome the colleagues of the Comenius projects:” OUR GREEN
WORLD” from UK, Spain, Slovenia, Ciprus and Turkey
I'd like to thank you very much indeed for being here.
Today your presence here means loving our job as teachers, and above all being fond of a school.
We can't deny our society is multicultural: we can see a cultural enrichment, thanks to the different
cultures and ethnic groups that live together.
Giving European students the chance to meet one another, to work all together and to know each
other is a great contribution for the building of a big European union.
It represents the best strategy against nationalism and individualism.
It is for this great aim that our school has fostered meetings with other European schools.
I believe that it is for this reason that today you all are here in Catania.
In fact it is clear that all of us are working for the creation of an European identity which is
supposed to be linked to the concept of citizenship.
This year for our country is a special year because we are celebrating the one hundred and fifthyth
anniversary of the Italy unification. Our country has always encourage the birth of the European
union and the respect for different cultures and different national identity.
We all would like to express our appreciation for taking part in this project because you are
witnesses of a big love for education, for the young, for Europe.
We are working hard on the project “ OUR GREEN WORLD”. The aim is the ecology and the
protection of the environment .
Our school is located in the centre of the town and inside there aren’t the open spaces that instead
there are in your schools. In any case, we are trying to bring the green inside the school to improve
the building and the classrooms.
Today we have a flowered school and we want to take care of it. Our aim is to carry out outside the
school an open space and then promote outdoor learning.
We will try to do our best to make your stay in Catania as pleasant as possible; if something won't
go the right way, forgive us; as we forgive our friends.
