Basilica di San Francesco – Get hypnotized by the gothic charme of the Cathedral that keeps inside its walls one of the most amazing masterpiece of the italian Renaissance: the Legend of the True Cross, the fresco cycle by Piero della Francesca that decorates the Bacci Chapel. 2. Santa Maria della Pieve – The wonderful romanesque parish Church strikes you with its loggias, columns, gates and its belfry called “the 100 holes tower” for the many windows. Do not miss the golden bust dedicated to San Donato, a real masterpiece of jewellery made in the XIV Century. Tradition tells us that San Donato had his head chopped off in the Duomo Cathedral and his head rolled down to Pieve Church. 3. Palazzo della Fraternita dei Laici – In the wonderful Piazza Grande square you’ll surely notice the facade of this Palace for its decorations by Vasari and its unique astronomical clock. Based on the geocentric model, this clock is still working and indicates hours, days, lunar cycles and the sun activity. You can watch its mechanism and help reload it with your hands. 4. Logge del Vasari – The Loggia, le last extraordinary work by Vasari, is the magnificent frame of this medieval square. It’s considered as a masterpiece of architecture for its bright and simple structure. 5. Casa del Petrarca – Just under the Duomo Cathedral you’ll find the native home of the famous poet Piero della Francesca.
