Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival – 5th edition
March 18-21, 2015
CONTEST REGULATIONS
Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival is the short film festival organized by Ca’ Foscari University of
Venice. It is going to be held from 18th to 21st March 2015 and will be divided into three different
programs:
 international competition of short films made by students involved in the world of film and media,
or by undergraduates attending cinema courses;
 competition of shorts made by high school students from the Veneto Region;
 out-of-competition short films, retrospectives and other special presentations.
1. International Short Film Competition
To take part in the competition the following criteria must be met:
a) the film must not exceed 30 minutes; only fiction films, documentaries and animation will be taken
into consideration;
b) the film must date from January 1st, 2014;
c) it has to be shot in PAL or NTSC format, and recorded on digital media (DVD or Blu-ray, both
region free); in case of a Blu-ray format, the applicant must submit an additional DVD copy of the
film;

d) English soundtrack or English subtitles if the movie uses a language different from English.
The deadline for submission is January 31st , 2015;
applicants must forward the following documentation:
a) entry form (see the attached document);
b) a screener of the film in its original language;
c) a copy of the short film with English subtitles.
d) 1 minute video clip, 3 stills, an Avi or Mpeg format copy of the film.

Applicants will be informed of the selection of their film by the end of February, 2015. No film
selected may be withdrawn from the Festival programme once the selection has been made.
The Festival invites film directors (or their substitutes) as its guests, offering free Festival accreditation
and free accommodation when available. Travel expenses are not covered.
The Head of the Festival appoints at least three members of the International Jury. No jury member
may have been involved in the production or promotion of any film in the competition.
The international jury will award one:
Grand Prix for the Best Short Film, with no tie exceptions
Prize for the Best Soundtrack
The International Jury may issue up to three Special Mentions for various achievements.

All costs related to the shipping of the preview copies (Blu-ray and/or DVD) and materials are under
the applicant responsibility. The aforementioned copies will not be returned and will be stored in Ca’
Foscari Short Film Festival Archive for further screenings within University programmes.
