innovative, exemplary and unique catalogue.
Indeed in the following pages Lordflex’s shows
its mattresses “opened”, illustrating with realistic
graphics technical sheets describing for each layer
all the materials that make them up together with
accurate detailed descriptions.
In the simplicity of the act, we wanted to make
reading clear, transparent and easy.
A brave honest choice owed to our Customers.
A choice that - until today - has been made by
Lordflex’s only.
1967-2012
45 years of work without rest
It has been 45 years since, in 1967, we created
the first mattress. It was made for the special relaxation needs of one of our Customers, who was
the first to trust us. We like to say that he still
trusts us. Since then more than 16,000 days have
gone by! It seems such a long time, but for us it
was like yesterday. All these days we have spent
with passion making products that could help people sleep well. How many things have happened
since that first time! Some were good and some
were bad, but always faced with the enthusiasm
of those who consider every new experience as
a unique occasion to improve themselves in their
private life and at work. A history of years passed
as a dream come true. Each year we made careful
researches for new proposals, technical innovations, inventions and solutions for the products’
aesthetic appearance. Due to this, the company
has progressively developed, enhancing human
resources and technical knowledge, enlarging its
organisational structure and acquiring a reputation for recognized quality production. The new
generation has long been proposing a strong solid
vision of opening up to the new international markets. It is a far-sighted vision - as that of 45 years
ago.
The new idea is based on the values of those who
started the business; and the dream has never
been so exciting and long-lived.

Our sole manufacturing factory is situated
in Italy, in Serra de’ Conti, and guarantees
the 100% “made in Italy” quality of its products. However, we have also wanted to create some operative offices in different parts
of the world in order to handle the peculiarities of the local markets through adapted
commercial, distributional and promotional
activities for the products made in Italy.
Some offices are controlled by Lordflex’s
Italy, which has the majority of the company’s capital. The business plan is defined
together with the shareholder-manager,
selected among the best experts in the local market. Every factory has its own offices, teaching rooms, stocks, vehicles
and showrooms. It uses the collaboration
of specialized staff, who get their training at
the Italian headquarter in different operative
fields: sales, distribution, service, administration. In all the countries where Lordflex’s
is present, it faces major local and international competitors and stands out thanks
to the quality of its products and services.
Lordflex’s is known as a leading manufacturer in the industry.
The company’s mission is to expand further internationally in other countries. The
company is going to do this in the following years, holding steady its approach and
positioning acquired over 45 years. Besides the quality of its products, Lordflex’s
intends to promote all over the world the
image, culture and peculiarity of Italy as
well as its region and small town, Serra de’
Conti, to which the history of our company

The wellbeing sleeping centre
Sleeping well is essential for people’s physical
and psychological wellbeing.
We spend one-third of our lives in bed sleeping.
For this reason the choice of a mattress is so important. There is no such a thing as a mattress
suitable for everyone. Everybody has a specific
weight, height, rest position and backbone profile.
Furthermore there are differences between men
and women, the environment’s climatic conditions in which we live and many more variables.
Everybody should have the possibility to choose
the mattress following their own unique needs
and physical features.
Early analyses of the different models are possible by just looking at the products in a catalogue
and reading the technical specifications.
But the purchase should not be finalised without
testing it for comfort of use. Indeed each model gives different sensations and has a different
bearing capacities.
Only after testing the bed system in one of our
specialized centres you will be sure you have chosen a mattress that is able to properly absorb your
body’s weight, does not prevent blood circulation,
and ensures the right transpiration, hygienic and
climate-control conditions.
It is not possible to perceive such elements if you
decide to purchase a mattress by looking at the
products on the glossy pages of a catalogue.
100% made in Italy
our technology
Each item from Lordflex’s collection is completely
designed and made in Italy in the Serra de’ Conti
headquarters. Each product is made by experts,
artists of quality, who are specialised in their own
fields of work. All the raw materials we use are of
Italian origin and strictly selected.
While a lot of companies on the market have
transferred their factories to countries with low
labour costs and low costs of raw materials to reduce expenses and increase margins, Lordflex’s
has been promoting the value of products made
entirely in Italy and is sure to give more value and
the best quality to its own products.
Lordflex’s important heritage that makes it different from its direct competitors is the ability
to analyse the production processes and the requirements of technical innovation. Thanks to this
ability Lordflex’s works out, creates and develops
inside its factory new complex high-technology
computerized machinery projects to improve
production and achieve major competitive advantages over its competitors.
This machinery is then made on a large scale and
sold to other companies in the industry, though
Lordflex’s withholds for itself the most advanced
developments. As a consequence many mattress
manufactures, both in Italy and abroad, use machinery based on Lordflex’s patents: Lordflex’s
undoubtedly has a leading role in continuous
- sometimes even revolutionary - innovation in
mattress production.

strength. The frame is composed of two systems of gradual cushioning according to the real weight carried.
The first system: one ball under each lath with lath holders made of
caoutchouc, with floating effect, guaranteeing the correct adaptation
of the base to your body’s profile.
The second system: two leaf springs on both ends supporting the
central bar as an additional support.
The leaf springs also protect against irregular shocks concentrated

LORDFLEX’s consistently needs ideas in order to fill the deep gap that exists in the purchasing process of a mattress. Their aim is to
help customers choose the mattress that best
meets all their orthopaedic and physiological
requirements.
Mattresses have always been purchased hastily, without considering the relevant far-reaching consequences (positive but also negative
if the choice is inappropriate), on people’s
health and well-being.
In order to solve this situation, it is necessary
to recommend a medical scientific approach
to the selling of bed systems. Although nearly
everything can be quantified (we can measure
speed, distance, time, weight and so on), we
can see that, however, there is no such thing
as a comfort measurement scale and there are
no specific rules and methods for such measurement.
This is an important assumption that, in the
mattress purchasing process, entails huge
limitations to the difficult aim of “sleeping
well”.
Paying attention to this issue, LORDFLEX’s has
involved The Polytechnic University of the
Marche region as its technological partner, in
particular the Engineering Faculty (Department
of Mechanics) in collaboration with the Faculty
of Medicine, which has also carried out experiments with representative samples.
At the same time a device called the “intelligent mattress tool ” has been created in order
to measure the comfort given and perceived.
This system makes it possible to manufacture
mattresses that can be customized based on
each customer’s physiological parameters.
This device is able to work out a map of the
body’s pressure points on the mattress,
“measuring” people through an algorithm that
takes into account the evaluations and physiological data acquired in the clinical phase of experimentation. By calculating the comfort level
necessary for each person, this allows them
to scientifically purchase the correct mattress.
A technological revolution for the entire field
brought about by LORDFLEX’s, which seems to
be the only Company on an international level
to have achieved such a high degree of knowledge and research.
Lordflex’s has the exclusive ownership of patents on the software and hardware developed
for this aim and is therefore able to create mattresses through scientific methods and to offer
mattresses actually customized for each individual person.

Sleeping is a universal necessity. Nobody can do without it. Sleeping is an essential function for people - after breathing. Drinking, eating and other vital functions
are secondary compared to sleeping. If we don’t drink or eat for a few days, our
organism, though progressively debilitated, spends its reserves to keep functional
for a relatively long period.
This is not the case with sleeping. If we don’t sleep for just one or two days, our
body collapses with exhaustion and we gradually lose our physical, mental and
cognitive functions.
A sleepless night is enough to understand the importance of sleeping in order to
experience a good quality of life. If we don’t sleep enough and if we don’t realize
this, we will suffer such consequences as:
--Low performance;
--Decrease in human relationships;
--Nervousness and moodiness;
--Most importantly, a worsening of the general state of our health.
That is why Science and Medicine are becoming more and more aware of the fact
that sleeping disorders are a widespread pathology affecting a large percentage of
people. Talking about people’s health, we more and more often mention a balanced
diet or good physical exercise, and especially a good-quality rest. Nowadays there
are many clinics, usually in local health centres, which specialize in sleeping disorders treatments.
Nobody can resist the sleep stimulus. Sleeping is one of the greatest balance keepers of life and it is regulated by our inner biological clock. We spend as much as a
third of our life sleeping. In spite of that, we are not entirely aware of what happens
to us while we are asleep. In fact, sleep is not a simple suspension of consciousness, but an active state with deep electrical and chemical activity going on in the
brain. Scientists have shown that, while we are asleep, our brain works in a different
way from when we are awake: it helps our body recover from the previous day’s
efforts and supports important activities such as learning and memory.
But there is another level to be examined and monitored: the quality of sleep. A “good” rest is an irreplaceable element to keep the correct physiological balance,
to ensure our body complete physical refreshment and - last but not least - to ensure the correct spinal column position.
More and more scientific evidence related to the poor quality of a rest has
shown the onset of:
--Anxiety;
--Depression;
--Cardiovascular diseases,
--Gastrointestinal diseases;
It is important, as soon as early symptoms are detected, to step in immediately to
prevent a simple sensation of uneasiness from turning into a pathological state requiring drugs. On the contrary, a vicious circle is often started: people sleep poorly
and then use counterproductive remedies such as sleeping pills for the night, coffee
and stimulating drinks for the day.
Such remedies enhance the problem instead of getting to the root of things. Specific
studies on the subject clearly show that a quality customisable bed system plays
an essential role for a good rest.

Lordflex’s has long been adopting the labelling system of its items as specified by
the new Consumption Code.
The presentation of a Product Sheet attached to each product is a compulsory
provision set forth by the European Union to defend Consumers’ rights and Manufacturers’ responsibility.
This rule protects consumers in terms of:
-Health
-Safety and quality of purchased items
-Proper information and correct advertising
-Correctness, transparency and fairness in contractual relationships.
All products must clearly include the following information:
According to the law, all the items that don’t comply with this rule are banned
from trade, because they are committing an offence against consumers.
Actually LORDFLEX’S is one of the few companies - if not the only one - that
completely complies with this rule, particularly concerning a clear statement of
the materials used.
In brief, the Consortium’s activity consists in granting the Quality Mark, registered
at an international level, which testifies quality from different viewpoints: compliance with Italian and international rules, use of safe, healthy and high-quality materials, manufacturing techniques, research based on in-depth studies of sleeping physiology, human anatomy and techniques of materials, strict conformity
monitoring.
The Quality Mark is reproduced on a label made of fabric, numbered and sewn
on the mattress.
Checking for the presence of this label is the first step in purchasing a new mattress.
The Mark is granted only to mattresses that have passed a series of tests on
quality and durability (at CATAS external and independent laboratories) according to the international rules in force.
A mattress having the Consortium’s Quality Mark:
- has passed all durability and resistance tests, which simulate the most critical use conditions - tested by Catas laboratories);
- keeps its characteristics unchanged throughout its entire life cycle;
- is produced by a company that is based on quality values and protects consumers before and after the purchase.
LORDFLEX’S Product Sheet is shown on a label sewn on the mattresses and attached in a permanent way in order to make all the information specified by the
law visible and traceable for the entire life cycle of the product.

Catas’ 45.000 cycles

Catas has been performing the tests defined by the European Committee for
Standardization (CEN) since 1996.
There are two different types of tests: the dimensional one and the one related to
the durability of the mattress.
The latter is carried out using specific tools able to simulate repeated applications of weight and movement, reproducing real usage of a mattress at home
while sleeping.
Some mattresses from Lordflex’s collection are classified as Medical Devices.
The Ministry of Health defines a medical device as a tool useful to people for
prevention, therapy and mitigation of particular pathologies.
how to become a quality mattress
The subject is regulated by European Directive 2007/47/EC put into effect in Italy
with Legislative Decree No. 37 dated 25th January 2010.
According to the tax rules (consolidated act of TUIR Incomes Taxes, art. 15, par.
1, point C), the people with certain requirements, when they buy an item classified and marketed as a Medical Device class 1 registered by the Ministry of
Health, are allowed to deduct this “medical sanitary cost” from their tax returns
within the scope set forth by the laws and with the relevant medical certificates.
In relation to the parameters specified in the European rules, the Consortium
of High-Quality Mattress Producers has defined in its protocol - in order to
give more warranties to consumers - durability tests up to 45,000 cycles, i.e.
50% more than CEN’s parameters.
Only the items that pass fatigue tests will be certified and will be granted the CATAS and Consortium of High-Quality Mattress Producers logos.

The purpose of the test is to evaluate all the transformations of the mattress’
proprieties as a result of its real usage as simulated by a roller with an overall
mass of 140 kg.
Before starting and at the end of the test process an evaluation is made of the
weight deformation curve, the value of mattress hardness (calculated as the result of resistance to pressure caused by a tool of suitable shape and size), and
the height of the mattress.
All the elements of a mattress must be intact at the end of the test process.

One of the most important aspects that affects sleep quality is the ideal microclimate that each bed system must ensure. A good microclimate in particular is due
to the transpiring materials involved: they must be able to guarantee air passage
in order to prevent sweating and body cooling as a consequence. It has been
shown that a number of cooling diseases (such as flu or cold) may be contracted
in bed. So a direct benefit from good transpiration is the lack of sweating and an
environment without bacteria and mites. Hemp is a natural fibre that has recently
been re-discovered; it keeps the right thermal balance between the ideal body
temperature and environment temperature (even more than natural cotton fibres).
This ability to balance temperatures comes out especially in the summer season,
when it ensures a fresh effect and a dry sensation (hemp retains a large quantity
of dampness but you don’t get this sensation when you touch it). Hemp is a highquality natural fibre of vegetable origin and it has high mechanical toughness and
resistance to traction and wear - like no other fibre. It is also resistant to mites,
mildew, fungi and clothes moths. It is anti-static and antiallergenic.
Ii is well-known how many people benefit from the daily usage of natural materials rather than synthetic materials: for example there is a big difference if we wear
a cotton T-shirt or a synthetic T-shirt in the summer! In addition to this, hemp
is also eco-friendly in that its production and disposal have no impact on the
environment.
Although used by LORDFLEX’s as a mattress covering fabric for some time now,
the silver fibre fabric is still a great innovation. It is the most useful, efficient and
healthy fabric on the market and for this reason should be present in every mattress.
Nowadays silver is used in a number of highly specialised industries (antibacterial toothbrushes, sticking plasters and many other medical aides) to protect and
treat the body thanks to its many properties. The Ancient Romans already knew
its properties and, because they didn’t have modern technologies available, they
used to put silver balls in the water tanks to purify the water.
In the mattress silver acts as a powerful means against mites and fungi; and it
regulates the temperature by dissipating humidity.
Another major feature that makes this fibre different from the others is its antistatic quality. As one of the materials with the highest electrical conductivity, it
can absorb and remove the magnetic fields in the environment. With a mattress
covered in X-static fabric, your body will naturally reduce any risk of stress and
muscular tension.

Following research by the Polytechnic University of the Marche region, the Engineering Faculty and the Faculty of Medicine, on the subject of “Ergonomics applied to mattresses”, besides the development of a computerized measurement
station able to detect body shape and the intensity of body pressure in each point
of a mattress, Lordflex’s has managed to create an absolutely innovative product covered by a patent. This mattress is built based on the physical features
of each person in a completely personalized way by paying attention, exactly,
to the pressure point map. This system makes it possible to actually customize
each mattress, point by point of the body’s pressure and not following macro
zones in a trivial way, according to a medical-scientific method. LORDFLEX’S
exclusive system consists in a supporting structure inside each mattress similar
to an independent pocketed spring system, where there aren’t springs but cylindrical layers made of Waterform inside each single pocket. The touching-surface
of these springs is made of a memory foam layer, while the other layers are made
of different combinations (Linpha, Watergel, Waterform, and so on) for different
ergonomic levels and bearing capacities. This system follows point by point the
directions of the pressure point map. A mattress created with this technology ensures transpiration, dispersion of moisture, hygiene and air conditioning at the
highest levels, in comparison with a traditional spring mattress. The Waterform
cylinders have open intercommunicating cells and the empty spaces between the
different memory springs make it easy to exchange humid air with new fresh air.
Watergel is a new high-technology material composed of high-density Waterform
in a mixture of gel foam.

Watergel, although providing the same relaxing sensation as traditional gel, is
substantially different in that traditional gel is enclosed in an external waterproof
surface similar to a thin plastic film, thus creating sweating, increased temperature and moisture. As a consequence this affects the most important aspect of a
mattress: hygiene. Watergel, on the contrary, ensures excellent perspiration, because the gel foam is mixed with Waterform and becomes an expanded material
with open intercommunicating cells. This ensures the same extraordinary sensation of gel, which gets modelled according to body shape, for unique comfort,
correct posture, ventilation, freshness and hygiene of the material.
LORDFLEX’S uses finished gel with anatomic outlines and different zones of bearing capacity for the internal structures of its mattresses, and stratifies it with
other high-technology expanded layers. These special combinations offer the

LORDFLEX’S philosophy has always been to use exclusive innovative ecofriendly raw materials with a high performance level.
Linpha is a new micro-cell expanded Waterform achieved with a special formulation of natural and renewable elements of vegetable origin, simple in its
composition. Only vegetable elements, steam and carbon dioxide are used in
the Linpha cycle production, getting a high-quality foam that is certified by
Oeko-Tex, CertiPUR and HealthGuard.
Linpha is used to make the internal bearing structure of mattresses made from
stratified Waterform. The new vegetable mixture offers a great relaxing sensation thanks to its excellent elasticity. It supports the body perfectly well, thus
increasing the quality of sleep, and also guarantees high transpirability, which is
a key factor for the right level of air conditioning in the different seasons.
Such excellent aeration prevents the accumulation of heat and sweat in order
to ensure the best hygienic condition of the mattress, which is free from mites,
bacteria and mildew.

Viscoelastic Waterform is a very comfortable material which is used as a mattress-supporting structure, because its characteristics make it possible to follow
and adjust to your body’s shape by getting compressed in an intelligent way and
to ensure maximum adherence only to certain zones as “pointed out” by your
body weight and heat. Any pressure and limitations on blood circulation are
consequently alleviated and any sensations of dullness, pain and need to change
position during the night are prevented. The feeling you experience is similar to
total absence of weight. You can take on a natural resting position and a perfect

The HealthGuard treatment is a special hygienic protection applied to expanded
fabrics and material (Waterform). It is able to prevent the proliferation of microorganisms, mites, bacteria and mildew, consequently protecting you from any
deriving allergies.
Latex is originally a dense whitish fluid extracted from the caoutchouc tree (caoutchouc). Through the first process (foaming), this fluid is mixed with air in order
to achieve the desired density and the required bearing capacity of the block.
This special treatment keeps the materials’ original characteristics unchanged
and prevents the development of bad smells due to sweating so that the materials
are always fresh and hypo-allergenic, thus ensuring a high level of hygiene, safety
and well-being.
The treatment was initially worked out in the medical field to prevent tropical
diseases such as malaria: the use of HealthGuard-equipped products ensures
protection against mosquito and insect stings too.
The treatment is long-lasting and biodegradable, and it causes no irritation.
Depending on the air/fluid proportion, it is possible to produce latex blocks with
different zones. Lordflex’s uses calibrated 7-zoned and 3-zoned blocks in order
to have the best bearing capacity for the different body parts. The result is a
highly ergonomic structure. Mixed with air, it produces tiny intercommunicating
cells that, together with the vertical channels, allow perfect transpiration of the
material.
Latex is an alternative to innerspring mattresses that offers perfect adaptation to
the body profile. It is preferable to choose latex mattresses with animal hair layers, because they are cooler and more ventilated. Latex is natural and anti-static,
it protects from sources of electromagnetic pollution and it favours well-being in
the sleep environment.

Textile fibre of animal origin obtained from the sheep fleece. Characterized by
excellent absorbing and insulating properties, wool fibres are composed of amino
acids which can absorb water up to 33% of their weight, leaving no wet feeling.
Wool also has natural thermo-regulating properties and so keeps body temperature constant in all seasons: in summer it insulates the body from external heat,
while in winter it retains the warmth accumulated.
This fibre is remarkably resistant to wear and friction and, thanks to its natural
curling, it always springs back to its original shape.
Lordflex’s uses only pure new wool certified by Woolmark that is sanitized, carded and pressed. We never use recovered or regenerated wool. For some particular products Lordflex’s uses a special soft wool of superior quality: combed
super-washed Merino wool, which is shorn where the animal’s fleece is longer
and softer.
Merino wool allows good transpiration by absorbing excess sweat and moisture.
Merino wool holds a considerable mass of air in the top layer of its fibres and,
thanks to its high lanoline contents, it has a beneficial and preventive effect on
rheumatic, muscular and joint pains.
Textile fibre of vegetable origin. It comes from the cotton flock, precisely from the
hair covering the seeds growing inside the plant’s flower. The flower’s seeds and
vegetation get caught in the filling fibres, showing the material’s natural origin.
Although the most widely used natural fibre in the textile industry, it has recently
been used in many other sectors too.
Even in its original form it has very good qualities: it is a good heat conductor
and is consequently used to dissipate body warmth. It is the best solution for the
fresh summer filling of a mattress. Lordflex’s always uses sanitized, carded and
pressed cotton. We never use recovered or regenerated ones.

Lordflex’s has been using stratified fillings in all its new-generation products. This
means that the layers made of Woolmark-certified pure new wool (winter side)
as well as those made of pure staple cotton (summer side) are coupled to a
special padded support that is quite large and has high resilience. In this way the
mattress will ensure and maintain maximum elasticity and perfect recovery in
all conditions, avoiding any flattening effect. Lordflex’s High-Tech filling provides
superior technical performance in both traditional materials and expanded materials, because it has a “tridimensional” reticulate structure that supports and
pushes upwards. The mattress will also be able to ensure a comfort level much
higher than standard mattresses. The reticulate structure creates wide gaps for air
exchange and excellent transpiration. Any moisture produced by the body dries
up quickly. The High-Tech filling is odourless, devoid of chemical additives, anallergic and non-toxic.
Hair is a natural fibre of animal origin similar to wool. To produce insulating materials, the fibres are uniformly bound together with tiny latex drops.
This process creates a compact indissoluble layer without adding man-made
chemical glues, thus preserving the fibre in its natural form.
Animal hair does not flake off through time, it does not produce any dust and immediately reacts to strain without any consequences. It is permeable and absorbs
moisture without transferring it to the lower layers and without creating unpleasant wet feelings. It is not attacked by micro-organisms.
Processed as an insulator, animal hair fibres are properly spaced and fixed to
form a compact layer in order to assure good transpiration and ventilation inside
the mattress. Just like wool, this fibre will protect you from rheumatic diseases.
In a mattress the insulating layer made of animal hair is usually put between the
latex bearing monoblock and the wool or cotton layer (different sides).

Bonnel springs
Springs are one of the key elements of a mattress. There are many types of
springs available. Lordflex’s uses only tempered phosphated carbon steel wire.
The tempering process plays a fundamental role, because it strengthens the steel
and makes it non-deformable over time, thus avoiding those unpleasant depressions in the mattress surface due to sagging of the spring system. The springs
make up the bearing structure that, together with the cushioning layers, support
the loads and the stresses during sleep.
Pocketed springs are the most sophisticated solution, which ensure an ideal performance and a higher quality of sleep. Each spring is enclosed in a fabric “pocket” which links it safely to the other springs. However, each spring is separate
and moves independently from adjacent springs in order to follow the body shape.
Thanks to its small circumference, it is possible to create a structure composed
of 850 elements (double bed), thus enhancing the ergonomic performance of the
product and ensuring a more physiologically correct sleeping position.

The number of springs used is determined by the size of the external rings. With
Bonnel springs it is possible to produce both anatomic mattresses with medium
bearing capacity and orthopaedic mattresses with high bearing capacity.

Lordflex’s has always chosen mattress fabrics with the utmost care: we consider not only quality and strength, but also aesthetic appeal and feel. Studies and
research lead to continuous updates of patterns, textures and yarns, to offer the
best technical and aesthetic solutions. Constantly keeping an eye on market
trends, Lordflex’s has selected strong yarns in natural ecru cotton giving a pleasant sensation of relaxation. For the greatest resistance over time the fabric must
be composed of a thick yarn (in weft and warp) with many threads arranged in
a particular woven pattern. With different yarn compositions and processing, it
is possible to make washable, fireproof or antibacterial cloth. Industrial research
has focused on this last feature, in order to protect the well-being and health of
consumers. It has been found that some fibres naturally have anti-mite properties, without being subjected to any treatment. A further innovation is the use of
natural pure silver fibres with beneficial properties. This particular fabric is naturally anti-mite, thermo-regulating, anti-moisture, antimagnetic, anti-odour and
anti-decubitus.
All Lordflex’s technical supports are exclusively made of natural steamed beechwood. Its peculiar properties ensure insulation from harmful magnetic fields, optimum bearing capacity, non-deformability and stability. Steaming is a treatment
used to give beech-wood more flexibility and strength.
The bed frame is made of lamellar, unidirectional multilayer natural beech-wood in
order to offer excellent resistance to strong pressure upon the longitudinal planks.
Thanks to the cohesion of the wood fibres, the structure is stronger and doesn’t
bend. Moreover, it has double resistance and durability if compared with normal
multilayer wood. The staves are made of curved multilayer natural beech-wood
that are pre-loaded in order to be able to absorb and then gently release significant
static and dynamic loads without sagging or adjusting. The curving and coupling
of the beech-wood multilayers make the staves remarkably elastic and consistently resistant to weight and body movements during sleep. In double beds they
form a single arch from side to side.

The choice of the ideal mattress
The mattress and its support cannot be recommended by other people or anyway chosen in a superficial way,
since every person has particular and specific sleep needs that must be taken into consideration.
Lordflex’s has a series of Sleep Well-Being Centres where customers can try many different kinds of products
before buying them, in order to choose the one which best responds to their needs.
The right support
We suggest laying the mattress on the base and making sure its sagging is less than 5 cm when body weight is
applied. If supported by an inappropriate base, a mattress will show signs of early ageing due to bad working
conditions and not to its structural characteristics. The right support plays an important role in the mattress’s
life cycle and is a key element for a good sleep. For this reason, wired bed bases or bases without uniformflexibility surfaces are not recommended. We recommend lath supports with caoutchouc shock absorbers,
because they enhance its performance, and supports able to guarantee the transpiration of the mattress.
Initial adjustment
After a certain time, the mattress has to show the signs of the person who has slept on it. A good mattress
automatically adjusts to the body shape, having been subjected to its slight pressure. Only in this case can we
be sure that the mattress is a healthy tool of well-being. Slight adjustments testify to such excellent qualities.
Otherwise we would be using an inflexible, and therefore extremely incorrect, support which forces the body
to take up unnatural harmful postures.
Lordflex’s products undergo many tests carried
out by influential laboratories in order to check
their condition after stress and ageing tests. These
tests consist of intense cycles of 45,000 forward/
backward movements of a roller with a frequency
of 16 ± 2 cycles/minute, i.e. a 140 kg load: much
heavier than the weight of an average person borne by a mattress during sleep. This test is a laboratory reconstruction of the real conditions and
strains experienced by a mattress during 15 years
of use. In LORDFLEX’S collection there are only
products that have passed this “durability test”.
RECOMMENDED IDEAL DURATION
Scientific studies and extreme laboratory tests
have determined that the ideal lifetime of a mattress is max 8/10 years. Beyond this period of
normal use, every mattress progressively loses
its hygienic features, ideal bearing capacity and
greatest comfort.
Useful accessories
Lordflex’s always recommends the use of a base cover to protect the mattress from wear and tear and avoid
contact with the base, and the use of a mattress cover to protect it from getting stained. Both of them act
as good dust barriers too. The accessories of the Merino Set are also very important in that, thanks to their
excellent thermo-regulating properties, they create the most appropriate microclimate and have a positive
impact on the quality of sleep.
Rules for the measurement of mattresses
Dimensions and tolerances according to UNI. The product dimensions can be slightly different from the nominal dimensions shown. In fact, the product is composed of several elastic materials, which can undergo
adjustments. For its products LORDFLEX’S complies with the size tolerances provided for by the rules of the
international standardization body UNI concerning the “Methodology for the measurement of mattresses”.
