EDPA® SCABIES TEST What service do we offer? We diagnose human scabies examining directly the environmental dust collected by the patient from his bedroom and sent to our Laboratory by mail in plastic jars. The test report is sent by us via e-mail in a very short time. What does our test consist of? It is a microscope examination of the traces of Sarcoptes scabiei processed through our innovative technique EDPA® (Esame Diretto delle Polveri Ambientali), Italian patent granted by the Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico. What is new about our test? Our test allows to detect the infestation from S.scabiei without any invasive intervention on the patient, even when the typical burrows are not present. It avoids a painful skin scarification to the patients and the risk of contamination to medical staff ! How reliable is our test? We garanteee the maximum of accuracy as this is a direct parasitological test applied to house dust. There cannot be mistakes, if the samples are well collected. About us The Urania Research Center is a Laboratory founded in 1992 and specialized in Medical Entomology and Acarology. Our EDPA® (Esame Diretto delle Polveri Ambientali) is available on internet for any people that want to benefit from it, currently requested by individuals, doctors, hospitals and other Institutions from all over Italy. Sarcoptes The mite can dig also tiny intraepidermal niches, causing lesions hard to be diagnosed as scabies. In both cases, our EDPA® Scabies Test allows us to know if the patient’s lesions are caused by Sarcoptes scabiei.
