Un po’ di storia personale del Webmaster che però rappresenta anche un po’ di storia di S. Albino
(o meglio di Cascina Bastoni, come si chiamava il centro del paese, detto anche Cuntrada)…
Per Patti MacLean e tutti i suoi parenti che vivono in Canada ma il cui bisnonno Guido Riva,
fratello di mio nonno Paolo, veniva dalla nostra “Curt di Fopa”.

Dedicated to Patti MacLean and all her relatives living in Canada but whose great-grandfather
Guido Riva, the brother of my grandfather Paolo, came from our "Curt of Fopa."

Credo sia Giuseppe Caprotti che collaborava con i Riva (divenuti ormai “mercanti”) nella cura dei
loro campi.
I think could be the farmer Giuseppe Caprotti which collaborated with the Riva (which have
become "merchants") in the care of their fields.

nella foto coi bambini c’è il primo asilo laico di S. Albino, fondato da mio nonno Paolo Riva,
fratello di Guido Riva. Erano socialisti (attorno al 1910). La terza bambina a sinistra è mia zia
Amelia Riva , sorella di mia madre Enrica. In basso vicino alla carriola Emilio Riva, fratello di
Amelia e Enrica.
In the picture with the children is the first not religious nursery school in S. Albino, founded by my
grandfather Paolo Riva, brother of Riva Guido, Patti’s great grandfather. They were socialists
(around 1910). The third girl on the left is my aunt Amelia Riva, sister of my mother Enrica. At the
bottom near the wheelbarrow Emilio Riva, brother of Amelia and Enrica.

La prima foto qui è la “Trattoria Lombarda” di Riva Guido a Zurigo (in Militarstrasse). Lui è sulla
porta e ci sono moglie e figlie. Pare che qui abbia ospitato (spesso gratis) un bel po’ di socialisti
famosi, compreso Mussolini, allora renitente alla leva (1907?). Quando divenne il Duce, Mussolini
lo fece convocare al “Covo” di Milano, ma Guido non ci andò e per decennni i familiari lo presero
in giro dicendo:” Ti avrebbe nominato vicerè dell’Abissinia!”.
The first picture here is the "Trattoria Lombarda" managed by Riva Guido in Zurich
(Militarstrasse). He's at the door, and there are also his wife and daughters. It seems that here he
was hosting (often for free) a lot 'of famous socialists, including Mussolini, then draft dodger
(1907?). When he became the Duce, Mussolini did call Guido to the "Covo" in Milan, but Guido
did not go and for a longtime family teased him saying: " Stupid, you would have appointed
Viceroy of Abyssinia!”
